The hospice nurse that was finally assigned to my mother was very good, BUT, I would never recommend this Hospice. There were serious issues with her care coordination, intake process, medication orders and supply, etc. My mother was in pain for 2 of the 2 1/2 days she was on hospice before she died. We knew she was very near death so we just tried to correct the issues instead of changing the hospice company. That meant we had very little time to sit vigil with her, and instead were trying to figure out how to get all these issues resolved. I did hear from the clinical Director afterwards, and shared the details and I appreciated her listening, but I'm sharing this for the sake of others who could hopefully avoid it. read more

Absolutely horrible experience. Started out good with support for hospice but when my mother passed that's when the support stopped. The morning my mother passed we made 4 calls to them over 3.5hrs!! 3.5hrs for the first representative from Thema just to respond on the phone. 4.5hrs for the first nurse to come to the house. 6hrs for them to finally get the mortuary to come pick up our mother. Things that happen to a body that long after passing are things no family should ever have to endure. Even the CEO called later to apologize and claimed this was being handled "personally". Was promised a call back 4 days later to explain more. 16 days later I had to call the CEO. He didn't even remember this event nor did he ever call to explain what happened and how they made sure it wouldn't happen again!!! read more

They provided unwavering support, ensurng my family and I felt prepared and at ease while caring for my mom at home. everybody was amazing and caring and helpful but the Chaplin Bill went out of his way everybody in my family and for my dad and his last week of life he made it so amazing. I have never met somebody so caring so outgoing were truly blessed to have him in our lives he truly brought peace and blessing to my dad and I will forever be grateful for everything. I have had the pleasure of working with her for the last year and she has been a great partner for me and our hospice residents. They kept promising to deliver a wheelchair for a week and kept us waiting at home giving us a time window everyday for the delivery and they never delivered the wheelchair. It's been a week as I write this review and still don't have the wheelchair. This is the kind of business to avoid. read more

In the beginning, the service was very good. The nurse came on time and was actually interested in my collection of problems. The nurse tried different things. No sense repeating what failed. Then there was a change of management. Two of my three contact people left to participate in medical programs. Now? Meh. It keeps me from going to the hospital. It supplies the most important medicines. It is pretty distant. I prefer the more interactive experience the current leadership is eliminating. read more

I am so grateful for the nurses and staff at Thema Hospice. Everyone went above and beyond. I'm grateful my mom could be admitted after hours so she didn't have to go back to the hospital. Nurse Kylie was absolutely amazing. Her compassion, empathy and respect for my mom were very much appreciated. She had so much knowledge and experience...she helped my mom and my whole family in our time of need. Kylie responded quickly when we needed her. She was on it right away when we needed meds. I can't thank her enough. She was truly an Angel. The DME company responded so fast when they had to come back out and bring my mom a second concentrator. Everyone was so kind and respectful. Admission nurse Shelly was so kind and sweet. She made the admission process fast and easy. Bert was so thoughtful and kind. I appreciated her call and her comforting words and prayers. I also received calls from Patrick and Rex after my mom passed and also very kind and much appreciated. I had to switch my mom's hospice company because the transitional care specialist was very unprofessional from the beginning. Thema was recommended to me. When I met Thema's transitional care specialist Lisa Paulson she was so compassionate towards me and my mom. She spoke to my mom like they had been friends for years. She showed her so much love it brought tears to my eyes. I know my mom felt every bit of it too. Whenever I needed something for my mom I would text Lisa, she immediately responded and got it done. She was an angel sent to me and my mom. All of the nurses and staff personal at thema hospice care was great as well. When my mom passed I received calls from thema's staff sending their condolences. Every person we encountered at Thema was respectful, courteous, and kind. They were on time and came immediately when we called in a panic. From meeting Will for the initial conversation to the nurses who cared for our mom, we were absolutely blown away. Candice came when mom transitioned and prepared her to be picked up by the crematory. We could hear her talking to mom, just like we had been. VERY shady company. Neve authorized their services. When we asked their services to be removed they continued to "treat" her leaving other remedies for treatment unavailable. Clearly worked with the facility she was in to continue as it was to both their benefit and Thema's. Continuing without any authorization from the family. Disgusting. It sped up her demise. The nurse lied over and over about how good she was and kept coming back anyway. Bizarre. NO ethics. They just overload patients with painkillers even if not warranted. Do NOT recommend. read more

Can't speak for the other hospice nurses that maybe with this unit but the one they sent out to my father smelled like the nastiest back room bar in the world. Nicotine saturated nurses really shouldn't be sent out for hospice patients. The last thing anyone wants to smell is some nurse who has been partying all day rolling in to give morphine. read more

Every employee of Thema was amazing, caring, respectful, and knowledgeable. They made me and all my families feel comfortable and equipped to deal with having my Mom in home hospice. They made it possible to make sure she passed peacefully in her home. They were all AMAZING and a gift from God when we needed it most. read more

We used Crossing Hospice Care for a loved one for several years until our loss a year and a half ago. I failed to write a review then but the time has come once again to call Hospice for a family member and we will call no other. The social workers, visiting nurse "Cindy" and the chaplain "Becky" are the best. So caring and loving towards all of us. read more

I am so grateful to the whole Thema team for all their help with my mom. They were so friendly on the phone and seemed eager to help in any way to get my mom started with a Home Health Nurse and Physical therapy. The nurse was so thorough and helped my mom understand and organize her medications which is such an important step in recovery. My mom was taking medication she should have stopped! I'm so grateful to the nurse for that. The Physical Therapist assessed and addressed my mom's needs as well as gave my mom some great tips and helped her learn how to transition from sit to stand and stand to walk without getting dizzy and passing out. That's a huge plus since that's been a struggle for her. They were so kind and respectful with my mom treating her with compassion the whole time. Thank you Thema! It was a relief to know I had back up in a difficult time. I highly recommend this company and will use them again if needed. read more

They sure sold themselves well, but very poor service. First "nurse" who was supposed to come in and help my brother had no idea what she was doing, and she wasn't even a nurse. Had no idea she was there to change a portal bag, and did not have to do it, which caused an emergency visit to the doctor. I thought these people were supposed to make the last days easier for those involved. Instead my brother's last days were filled with stress thanks to this horrible place. When it came time for hospice, no one involved showed any empathy or caring . It was like they had a job to do. When my brother passed, no calls, nothing. Their sales pitch is about being their to support thos people involved. They cared more about getting their equipment and getting out of there. No one checked in on my sister-in-law. She felt she really let my brother down in his final days, not doing more research. And to show how little they care or even try to know about those in their care, I got a sympathy card a week after my brother passed, saying how much they liked taking care of my father!! Seriously??!! If you care for your loved ones, do more research and choose another facility read more

I have a high regard for those people who do hospice work, but sometimes people who are on hospice service get better and they get discharged from that service. If it is your loved one who gets discharged, and Thema is your hospice company, I hope you have a better experience than I did with my father. I am a licensed social worker in another state, so I know that there are state regulations that must be followed regarding discharging someone off of a service, in fact my dad's social worker at Thema told me the same thing. She assured me that we would get a plan in place so that I would know exactly what needed to happen so that my dad didn't go without any service disruption at the assisted living facility where he resides. I live 1700 miles away and can't be there to fix every little thing, and I rely on these companies to follow through with their responsibilities. It was only when the facility to called to tell me that my dad was almost out of medication, which had previously been provided by Thema, that I became aware that the discharge had happened. I was given 2 choices of doctors by the facility, although Thema had told me that they would help me find a physician for him if I didn't want to use the facility's choices. So much for that plan. I called Thema to ask about why we had no discharge plan in place, and the person I spoke to clearly had no idea what I was talking about. I explained that my father's social worker Jean had assured me that we would have one and I was just told that I would get a call back. There has been no accountability, no concern for what I might find myself dealing with from 4 states away. I am so disappointed in Thema and I will be reporting them to the Area Agency on Aging. read more
