Customer service. My appt was 5:30. The office closes at 7:00. At 6:55 I told them that I was leaving. Was never seen for my appt. Was never approached about any delays. Unacceptable and will not return. Selection of eyewear wasn't great too. read more

Shame on me for giving Americas Best 3 chances. Every pair of glasses I've gotten have lasted maybe 4 months before the "scratch resistant" lenses looked like I cleaned them with sandpaper. I always used the proper methods of cleaning and they all were useless after 4-5 months. The old saying is true, "you get what you pay for". Spend the extra $200 and go to a locally owned reputable place that provides better quality. read more

I have used Americas Best at the Boardman location and in Florida, si I have had quite a few exams. This last one this past we eek was the worst exam ever. First inoverheard one of the technicians talking to the dr. He coukdnt give her an answer about a patients exam to save his life. He changed his mind several times. The tech prompted him and he eventually agreed with her recommendation. I had my fingers crossed he would not be my dr. In addition he had a cough and cold and sounded horrible. I really prayed he wasnt going to be my dr. No prayers snswered. I should have asked for the other dr. My fault. Same issues with this dr. Came in with very old glasses as i could not find my newest pair. Said the rx was fine. I ssid "really? These are ver old rx and i font see very well out of them.." he then said well, ok then change the left eye rx. No, makevtgat the right one, on second thought, ch a nge t h em both..i tgsnked him and just left. I willbhave to go elsewhere and psy for another exam..never again will i go there. read more

Let me preface this by saying that I've gone o this location for my own vision exams and glasses. I love seeing Dr. Shoemaker. I've recommended him to others. So, naturally, when my 5 year old failed her school vision test, I scheduled an exam here (despite the one hour drive). When making the appointment online, I indicated she is under age 7 (which is a question on the scheduling form) and included her DOB. After arriving at the appointment (after I've already picked my child up early from school, arranged my work schedule, arranged transport for another child, and brought my infant with us -- if you have a job and/or kids, you get it)... I am informed that the doctor is not in the building (and won't be for over a week)!! So, it's a vacation, not an incidental call-off, which implies prior knowledge of him not being there. And, Dr. Shoemaker is the only Doc there who sees young kids. Prior to the appointment, I received three email confirmations and five text confirmations (if I could post pics, I would) for this appointment. I made my husband's appointment at the same time (for another day), and he received a phone call within 30 minutes letting him know there will be no doctor available that day! So, one, why is there never a doctor during the appointments offered for scheduling? And, two, why did he get a call for his adult appointment, but we didn't get one for a child's appointment (which is arguably more complicated to make happen)? There were a bunch of people visibly working on the front end (reception, ordering, fitting, etc.), so it didn't seem like a lack of help. When I asked why this happened, when it is indicated on the appointment that she is under age 7, I was told they "normally call the day before." Well... that clearly didn't happen. It doesn't matter how kind and attentive the doctors are, if the front-end management is this poor. So, find another provider or make sure you call and confirm your appointment before making arrangements to show up... maybe call a few times, just to be sure. Because, they surely can't be trusted to respect your time. read more

Just got back from a total waste of time. Saw this Colonel Sanders looking guy who told me that in 35 years of administering his service, HE WON'T PROVIDE ME CONTACT LENSES. I have a lazy eye and I've been wearing lenses for 19 years counting. It's his personal belief that I should wear glasses at all times in the event of a freak accident that I ever lose vision in my other eye. I'm already in desperate need to address the astigmatism I'm developing but lucky me! I get to find a new doctor when they all open on Monday! Waited a whole month to see this guy and he doesn't even provide what's in the title of his business. read more

Terrible experience, as soon as I walked in was told that I would have to wait one hour after my scheduled appointment to see the doctor because he was running behind. Currently it's been over an hour and still have not seen the doctor. To add insult to injury, americas best has a 10 min late policy, meaning if you are 10 mins late you are unable to go to your appointment and need to reschedule, it's a good thing I took the day off work. At least it gave me enough time to write this review so hopefully more people will steer clear of this place. read more

Dr. Mellott was very kind and explained everything in detail. He sanitized the equipment prior to use in front of me while explaining why he was doing which parts of my exam. He is very knowledgeable, as are the wonderfully kind staff. Since COVID they're taking extra precautions for our safety and it was very obvious, & as a RN I'm impressed. They got me in & seen and taken care of in a very timely manner. Ordered my contacts & they arrived within days. Very pleased. read more

Honestly a good selection and great service. My boyfriend and I came here, he was scheduled quickly and everyone was reliable. However, it isn't "one hour lenses" or "one day" or anything- we will receive the glasses in about a week. Also they have great "2 for XXamount" deals, and a free eye exam if you get two pair. I had to return here for service, and I am still giving this place a one star. First of all, they only had two staff working the floor, so there were five of us waiting in line for service, while the two staff were waiting on three other customers between them. The staff person that waited on me was wearing gloves, which is fine. I understand she is protecting her hands from Covid. However what I did not like is that she never disinfected the gloves on her hands after touching so many things from all of the customers in front of me, and then she touched what I brought in and gave it back to me. She was already waiting on two people that were not in line, and touched everything they touched. The person in front of me brought in items that she touched before touching what I brought in. She never went in the back the whole time I was standing in line, and I watched her wait on everybody and touch everybody's items that they touched without ever disinfecting her own gloves. Obviously, she's only concerned about protecting herself, and doesn't care about spreading everything on her gloves to all of the customers! Management - you need more staff and you need to educate your staff on protecting your customers from your staff that do not disinfect their hands between customers! read more

I got the 2 pairs and free exam, getting the cheapest frames. While waiting for the exam I had enough time to check out all the frames and the most expensive ones didn't seem any better than the lower priced ones. It seemed like I was waiting a long time, even though I had an appointment I waited at least a half an hour. When I finally got called in for the exam, the optometrist was very nice, and explained a lot to me about my vision and condition of my eyes. After, I gave one of the helpers the frames I had chosen, paid immediately, and was told my glasses would be ready in a week to 10 days (they were very quick to get my payment). My glasses came in, and they called like they said they would, only they called too late for me to get them on that day. I went in the next day to pick up my glasses, and it was not very busy, so I thought, great, I can get my glasses and get out fast. Not so. first I had to stand there while someone finally acknowledged I was there. I told her I was there to pick up my glasses, and she said have a seat, someone will be right with you. So I sat, and sat while the people working there pretended to be busy. I think there were about 5 of them. There were only 2 people ahead of me who were being helped, and when they were done, another person came in, and got waited on immediately while I still sat there waiting. By this time I had been there at least 25 minutes. I started to wonder if I was invisible. Finally the optometrist came out and asked me what I needed. He got my glasses out and made sure they fit right, I'm not sure I'll ever go back there, because I don't like to waste my time needlessly waiting. If they had been very busy I would not have minded waited that long, but there was just no excuse for their careless lack of concern. read more

I've always had a great experience with America's Best! My insurance didn't cover my eyes so I went there and signed up for their $99 for 3 years worth of eye exams! That's been an incredible deal! As I get older my eyes have been changing and I need to alter my prescription more often, thank goodness for this plan! Everyone there is very helpful and friendly....and to think the last place I went to I spent almost $600 on eyeglasses! Never again!! From now on I'll be going to America's Best! read more
