My husband and I decided to walk-in and see if they could adjust our glasses since they kept sliding down our noses. We were greeted as soon as we walked in by the manager, Malik. He was very polite and immediately told us to sit down he checked our glasses and started adjusting. Came in just to buy more contacts. They already have my prescription. The place had no customers and there were 4 employees behind the counter talking about what they bought for Valentines Day. Neither asked me if I needed help after I stood up and walked around so I would be visible. Finally after 10 min I asked if someone could help me order contacts. The associate says " Oh I thought you were here for the doctor." Well, I'm not sure what gave her the impression I was there to see the doctor or was it that her Valentines purchase conversation was important and didn't wanna even check to see if I was good or acknowledged my presence. Don't be on the phone when you walk in or they'll skip you. I was on the phone when walking in and hung up immediately as I got inside. I was waiting at the counter (no longer on the phone) for an employee named Johnny to come help me but he was on the computer so I was trying to be respectful and wait for him to finish what he was doing and ask me what I needed. A family walks in and the lady immediately tells him she's there to pick up some glasses. I turned around and let the lady know that I was there to pick up glasses too and the lady starts to get crazy with me telling me to shut the eff up and Johnny tells me that I won't be helped first because I was on the phone when I walked in and proceeded to help out the lady that walked in after me. Definitely a weird and uncomfortable experience for me. I thought I was doing the right thing by being respectful and waiting for him to finish what he was doing and approach me. Not only was I verbally attacked by the other customer for simply letting her know that I was waiting to get helped before her, but Johnny really confused me by assisting the other customer first. I will have to agree with all the reviews I've read, It was my first time getting my eyes checked since high school, and Teresa was very very helpful, got me in the exam room within 10 minutes do to someone not showing up for there appointment. I got new glasses a couple of weeks ago, when I went to pick them up, my wife came along and liked the place. Last week she asked me to take her for new glasses, unfortunately she didn't find frames she liked, but we ended up getting new glasses for my 20 year old and for the 10 year old. I have used glasses over 35 years and have had many exams in that time, this experience was by far one of the best. Their optometrist Ms. Teresa Mel O.D. was very professional and has a great way of treating young patients. Their associated Malik was also very helpful, pattiant and accommodating. Stay away from this place! Such a disappointment coming here. When I made the appointment I specifically told the receptionist I was coming in for eye contacts and was told the exam was covered. Everything was fine at first, I do the exam and an extra test that supposedly the doctor recommends everyone to do for an extra 20 dollars. Which I was ok paying, I saw the doctor and he explains my vision issue. When I come out to the lobby to check out the optician Laquita assist me with checking out. She explains that my total with the exam and 6 months contact is going to be about 150(because I have a special type of lense) I proceed to checkout and she advises that my lenses won't be delivered till a week. Due to the inconvenience I went ahead and canceled the order. This is when the scam starts!!! She magically comes up with a "fitting fee of 50" that I am responsible for. I asked her to explain why all of a sudden a fee was made and she kept dancing around the question. She even had the audacity to tell me the my trial contacts( which in the label specifically says NOT FOR RESALE) were not free . I asked her for a manager and the "higher up " who spent almost 20minutes gossiping about how long it takes her to straighten her curly hair to her coworkers in front of everyone says the doctor made a mistake. When I asked her to explain the mistake Laquita chimes in and says that "Diana" will get upset if she doesn't change a code! I have no idea what that means!! I was so fed up I ended up paying the amount and left! I will never come back to this business again! read more

Chris was soooo helpful. The America's Best where I purchased my glasses made two half-hearted attempts to adjust my loose fitting glasses. Rather than waste the time and gas for a third trip to that store, I thought I'd stop in at this store. I'm really glad I did because Chris took the extra time and extra effort required to get both of my pairs of glasses fitting just right. This involved replacing a screw that was most likely already broken when I purchased the glasses initially (from the aforementioned other store). I came in for my dad's eye exam, and all staff was super friendly from the moment we walked in. Shout out to Chris, DR and Malik!! Chris who was first person to see my dad, was very polite and had lots of patience for my dad who doesn't speak English and is very forgetful with his letters. Chris took his time and was in no rush with him(even when he had to repeat himself twice). The Dr who was also very polite and knows his basic Spanish(big plus.!) Explained very well the results and gave us very good recommendations. Malik was also very polite and understanding as he allowed me to translate everything in Spanish to my dad with no rush whatsoever. Overall great staff and experience.!!! Where do I start? A year ago the optimist suggested I needed bifocals. Came back a year later and the new optometrist states I don't. Walked in to buy contacts abs had to wait more than 15 mins for some one to grab the contacts scan them and let me pay because there are only certain people qualified to check me out. Two women sitting behind the desk are not qualified to grab the box and let me pay. Seems like everyone should be trained on how to scan a box and let the costumer swipe their card. I would leave but I really need the contacts. THEN TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE I WAS CHECKED OUT BU A WOMAN THAT I WAS TOLD WAS NOT QUALIFIED TO CHECK ME OUT. THEY LIED. read more

It was OK, My regular eye doctor I've been seeing for years moved away so I came here I just felt they weren't personable even the eye doctor and also the wait time was pretty long longer than I usually ever had to stay in an eye doctor appointment I was there almost 2 hours I may not go again I just had to because I needed to get a new prescription on my contacts. read more

My daughter and I came for eye exams and new glasses and I am extremely impressed with the customer service. Malik assisted us. He was so knowledgeable and patient. The eye exam here is worthless and their contact lenses are a waste of money. I was told by the manager Cynthia, my eyesight could be worse after two month and need a new eye exam , which is Ridiculous. I purchase eye glasses in the past which were okay, (overpriced and I was up sold on everything but at least they worked) The contact lenses I bought from this store are defective and don't work like the sample contact lens that I received during my eye exam ( which lasted 30 days). The Contacts they sell at the store seem defective, they don't work like the sample . They don't stand by the products they sell and only want to pressure you into coming back in for a whole new exam. nobody needs a new eye exam after only two months unless they have an underlying condition, which I do not. Very professional setting. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. I brought in a pair of glasses that I needed to replace the nose pads for me. They took care of that within seconds. I fear anything having to do with doctors or exams, but I felt comfortable and my anxiety wasn't triggered. This was huge for me. The optometrist was also very kind and communicated without making the process feel rushed. He took the time to explain and inform me of everything and answered every question I asked. Jason, the manager helping out from the Torrance location, was the all-star. It's incredible to see a manager be so grounded and humble. He helped me pick frames that complimented me better. He also took the time to pick as many pairs to try on. I'm usually uncomfortable, but I felt at ease with him. The power also went out, I saw him navigate through that with the team and he's the type of manager you want to work for. We completed everything necessary. Once they got the power back up and running he called me to process the payment. This was the best experience I've had with any optometrist. I found my regular spot to go to. Although, if I'm being entirely honest... i might go to Torrance and see Jason since he helped me step out of my comfort zone. Shoutout to the entire staff at this location though. Lawrence. he was very condescending and not pleasant to be around. I then was handed off to Fatima who had to keep getting up to ask questions, she said they would call when they got my contacts in without checking to see if they had them first & they did. i got them with no bag i asked for a contacts holder and a sample solution she gave me an attitude and said well did you need one .. i wouldn't be asking if i didn't need one for my new contacts. overall a rude and not welcoming place. KNOW WHAT YOUR INSURANCE COVERS BEFORE SCHEDULING AN APPT. This store lied to my elderly mother that my son's vision coverage, VSP thru Anthem, was not covered at their store. When I confronted them on the issue, they played games staying that they could not find my son's eligibility in their system. I must say, at first I thought, just another shop in a strip mall only because of high traffic. I was wrong, very wrong. The customer service was great, not good, great. They were very thorough with the pre exam, and I was not rushed in deciding what lens were better for me, I made a very comfortable, accurate choice on my lens. The facility was clean, the displays were clear, and easy to read. I'm handicapped, and they went out of the way to make sure I was comfortable, and able to complete my visit.. the staff was courteous, and I have nothing negative to report. The eye exam is 65.00 no glasses included and when a prescription for glasses was given it came out to over 300 dollars i felt totally blindsided what if you don't have that type of money to spend and you are relying on them for affordable eye wear. I really wanted to change my frames for a while now. My daughter went two weeks ago and when she got her back glasses back within five working days they were amazing. For the price the quality was unbelievable. I ended up purchasing four pairs of eyeglasses with prescription and was blown away the total of four would have cost me one pair at my regular ophthamology. Let me start by saying. This was my 1st visit. They were great on the 5 call I received before the visit. Everything went downhill after the eye exam with Dr. Mui. Our appointments were at 12:00 and 12:10, we arrived early. They took us in for the exam in less than 15 minutes. Today was someone birthday (Juan) or something like that. Three workers went to lunch at the same time on Saturday, so my husband and I sat there for over an hour before someone helped us choose eyewear. There was Malik and Kathy who were diligently working with other customers that were there before us. I didn't understand why ALL three had to leave for lunch at the sometime. It ALL made sense when that came back with birthday cake and ice cream. To make matter worst the office manager comes over and ask us who had been here over 2 hours already, if we didn't mind if Malik took 10 minutes to sing HAPPY BIRTHDAY with them and that we could have some cake. He and I both said no I had been there way to long. The was very inconsiderate. I need American Best to understand that time is very important to me and thinking that I had time for an unplanned party was not right. Even the man standing at the counter for over 20 minutes to make an appointment, c heck the camera on Saturday after 1400 and see the man standing there.
