I'm an OG patient here, can't believe it's taken me so long to write a review. I've been coming for 30 years since back when Dr. Gee was originally my optometrist. I have a very specialized job where my eyesight is my lifeline. I've had countless frames, contact lenses, special FX lenses both standard size and sclera (prescription) always exactly what I need as my eyes changed over the years. When Dr. Gee recommended LASIK Surgery (which lasted 15 years) I still came for my regular check ups. Fast forward to today, I'm back wearing glasses and being cared for by the new Dr's now that Dr Gee is no longer with us. I'm so grateful that the team continues the same level of care and precision with their exams and all my crazy requests. Now my son, my husband and my siblings and parents come here. I was referred here by my coworker who is a Carson native. Long story short -- the Doctor I saw was Dr. Misty Mello. She wrote my glasses & contact lense prescription wrong for both of my eyes. When I ordered my glasses from Warby Parker & my contacts from 1-800 contacts, with the prescription I was given from Dr. Mello I couldn't see at all because the prescription was 100% INCORRECT. The office refused to update & change my prescription until next year 2027... even though this was their mistake ! Also, regardless if I went through a 3rd party for my glasses & contacts, I did get a second opinion from another optometrist in Los Angeles and the prescription was STILL WRITTEN WRONG FOR BOTH EYES. I would not recommend this optometry office and doctors here. They're very unprofessional. I wasted my time, insurance & money being a patient of theirs. I scheduled an appointment to have my eye checked out for possible abrasion. I was able to call and immediately get an appointment. Day of appointment was a breeze. Staff was very friendly and attentive, I did have to wait 20 minutes after my scheduled appointment time because they were very busy, but once I was called to the back the process was very quick and easy. The optometrist listened to my concerns, answered all my questions and didn't make me feel like I was being rushed out. Dr Yuan and Wong were fantastic and provide top notch eye examinations. As an optometrist myself, I do enjoy getting my eyes checked at different doctors to support my profession and keep up with my health. It is a bit hard to look in my own eyes to make sure that everything is ok. I can tell you that as a "secret shopper" Dr Yuan was extremely informative with outstanding bedside manners. IIf i could give endless stars i would. Came in on friday october 7th and i was in and out in less than 30 minutes. With pockets still full lol! I was expecting to pay but they made it clear that everything was covered. Everyone was friendly! Wait time was less than 10 minutes, i was seen by DR. Vione Wong-Yuan. She knows what she's doing and doesn't leave you confused about your questions and what you feel and how you feel. Educated and professional snd her energy made me feel better since it's my first time visiting. Dr. Yuan and his team were professional, kind, and knowledgeable in addressing my needs, and I was ultimately very happy with the service they provided. Everything leading up to the visit was super easy - making an appointment by calling their office, finding plenty of free parking in the back, and checking to see if I qualified under insurance. When I arrived, I didn't wait very long at all to be seen and the office itself is super clean, organized, and spacious! No appointment was needed to pick up my new glasses. I stopped into Avalon Optometry and was seen immediately! My glasses fit quite well and didn't need any adjustments. I was handed a paper with different font sizes and was amazed at how well I could read even the smallest font. They gave me a cleaning cloth and a nice hard case to protect my glasses, complimentary with my new "eyes". I was out the door in 10 minutes. I had already paid during my initial visit, $20 insurance copay and $24 for special polycarbonate lenses. I'm really glad I found Avalon Optometry! I'm sorry I didn't go sooner. read more

The process of making an appointment over the phone and signing in on the day of was smooth and easy. We were both seen by Dr. Yuan. He was professional, knowledgable and so down-to-earth. He was very thorough with the exam, and addressed all my questions in regard to my daily eye care (I wear glasses and contacts), concerns and even Lasik. I was also able to fax over my records from my previous optometrist, and I appreciated him taking the time to go over the records to give me an overall review of my eyes. Both the front and back office staff were all so friendly and helpful. They were also very patient; we didn't feel rushed being the few last patients of the day. The staff made the entire process so efficient. The office is also kept very clean and tidy. I was so excited to get the first appointment of the day anticipating that I didn't have to wait long. I think I waited longer to use the restroom than I did before they called me to do the exam. The young lady that helped me get checked in was fantastic (sorry, I forgot her name) and then shortly after Dr. Yuan came in. He was very thorough and the exam was very comprehensive. He took the time to answer my questions and did not seemed rushed at all. He even chased me down to tell me additional information. Overall, this was a great experience and I will be back!
