Only reason for this being the ratings is due to the facts of... Only has one eye dr at this location and is not there on Mondays either. 2nd reason you will have an appointment and have to spend like 2-3 hrs to be seen. 3rd reason is Dr made my mom get into the chair after she had just lost her leg, then have her go back into the waiting room, then do it one more time and she couldn't get up a 3rd time. On January 20 ,2020 I was in this location They were very unprofessional only one that did the pre exam had some professionalism. Didn't catch his name. But anyway, after it was finished with him and the doctor that I recorded the time spent with the Dr everything that was said. I should have recorded the checkout with Ms Gabriel. She was very unprofessional, didn't get up from her desk even when questions were being asked regarding the frames. She sat... When the frames were picked, she was asked if one of them came in different colors she said no and didn't know Then started making fun of the lens she tried her best to get me to upgrade even after I told no I couldn't do it. Then she went on making fun saying I was going to be whaped sided I would need a weight on the other side I was going to be bugged eyed. Shaking her head... Not only was I miss informed by the length of the time it was going to take but I was lied to and over charged and didn't notice the overcharge until yesterday when I started looking at my receipt. She also told me these would not have a warranty , but again as I looked at this receipt it states 1 year. One told me a few days for their return, I called on the third day and the woman that answers said it takes 14 or 15 business days. But then a person by the name of Nancy left a reply saying 10 days. It also states that comment was from the owner. When it's far from the owner. No contact by phone nothing but email. So, I was lied to , I was made fun of, had no help trying to choose frames , was trying to be forced to take a higher price and was over charged , when I said no over and over that's when she started making fun of how it was going to be saying I was basically was going to look ridiculous. she is the one I should have recorded , but they should have voice on their security cameras. But I do have voice on the doctor. Oh yeah this Gabriel person said I had a stigmatism but yet the doctor never said such. Two or three different doctors told me I had NF in the eyes but this Dr said he didn't see anything. All was good just my vision was bad. So before y'all go to this place just be aware of the unprofessionalism even tho the other two employees were laughing one next to her and the one that was behind the desk I point my finger to the woman that was supposed to be helping me , the customer the one that should be ashamed of herself. Took my mom in to get new glasses for her and had a wonderful experience with almost everyone with the exception of Ruby the lady that fit her glasses and stuff she was a bit on the rude side but all in all we were happy with America's best. read more

I don't have vision coverage so I'm limited in where I can go for eye exams and buying new frames. Going to a private doctor who sells mostly designer frames is not an option for me. I normally deal with Walmart optical center, but I've grown increasingly frustrated with their total lack of customer service and I will gladly go elsewhere if at all possible. I did an online search and found America's best, decided it couldn't possibly be any worse than Walmart, so I made an appointment online. I have to say that I'm impressed with their Dothan location and will definitely go back. I read online that appointments take aproximately 55 minutes. My appointment took a little longer than that, but was under an hour and a half. In that time I filled out paperwork, had my eye exam, my eyes dialated, picked out frames, had the second part of my exam, and purchased two sets of frames. That's pretty good IMHO. I also really can't believe how affordable the visit was. I spent $91 and got a comprehensive exam and two sets of glasses. They had a 2/$69 with free exam (the dialation service was $15 extra) deal that I decided to try out. Beat that Walmart. Oh no, you can't. I'm not sure who can actually. And their frames aren't total junk. I had a really hard time narrowing down my choices because of the wide selection. I also liked the doctor there, Dr Jensen. He had a lot of patients during my time there, but the line moved pretty quickly. He was just as thorough as any other eye doctor I've been to and had a pleasant demeanor. I've been suffering from really dry eyes and he recommended drops that have helped a lot. I didn't feel like I was being rushed at all during my exam and that I got a thorough evaluation. The staff was all very courteous and helpful as well. I was very happy with my experience and would give them repeat business in the future. Note: I haven't picked up my frames or had them fitted yet so I'll have to update later with that part of the review. read more

I stopped by the store today to see about scheduling an appointment for later in the week, I found out there was a spot open in about 45 after I had stopped by, so I took that. The staff was real nice and the prices looked awesome. I will tell you this before I get to the rest, the sign, yes it does say 2 pair for $69.99 including the lenses and eye exam, they will try to sell you extra packages, they are a business, the same thing happens at McDonald's. Anyway, I went in to see the O.D. Dr. Jenkins, awesome Doctor! Very nice, thorough, and quick, not rushing, and he does listen to your concerns and wants, something that more M.D.s need to do, he heard my concern about my cataracts, and was the first, in the ten years that I have been diagnosed with them, to actually explain to me that I have had them since I was born. He is the first O.D. to ever correct my eyes to 20/20. I have never seen 20/20 since I was in the Navy. Now about the purchasing part. Like I said earlier, while the staff are nice, and friendly, they are also sales people, they are there to sell you something, it is their job. They also do not want you to be an unhappy customer. I found a pair I liked, and because of a condition that I have with my eyes, I have to have anti reflective coating, so my glasses are going to cost more than the window price, which is OK. The window price is for plain jane lenses with no protection. I opted to get the "warranty package" which costs the same as the basic package, only you get more, you get the coating, a UV coating, scratch resistant coating, and a tint if you would like. The staff was well educated and very friendly. I ended spending about $160 on one pair. But considering what I got, still not a bad price. The frame did cost the sticker price. I got an exam, and glasses that I like. Most places in the area, would have cost around 300-400 for the same thing(my shopping, not a company comparison). Stop on in, give it a shot! Customer service from office staff was poor on initial visit. Doctor did a very thorough exam. He changed my contact prescription and seem to genuinely care that he got it right. He ordered week of trials in my usual brand. After 2 wks I finally called and my trials were there. (Guess they don't call when your product comes in.) I picked up and tried them the next day, but couldn't see. Had to wait 5 days to come back in to see the Dr again. Turns out the office staff had ordered the wrong prescription for me. I wait around again, but never hear anything. Called and left a couple voice mails, but no return call. Walked in the store (3rd visit), but the trial pairs weren't there (ok, probably shipping delays). I called 5 days later and the contacts were in....but staff never called to let me know. So by this time I had been wearing the extended-wear pair for a month (and I like to wear daily throw-aways). Picked up the trial of dailies and the office staff won't tell the dr I like the prescription....."because you have to wear this brand, then I'll let him know". I literally walked out to my car and called the store from the parking lot and said "I like this brand". What should have taken 1 visit to the store for an exam, turned into a 4 visits over a month with multiple calls to the office. PITA!!! read more

Dr's and exam were fine, it was everything else that wasn't. The people who work in the store portion are rude & act like you are completely inconveniencing them. The lenses I got didn't qualify for the 2 for $70 b/c they are specialty lenses, fine, but the frames I got are super cheap & won't hold the shape, really wish I'd gone elsewhere for those. I ended up getting my contacts elsewhere for about the same price for 2 boxes as I would have paid for 1 here. My advice, make sure you get that prescription before you leave b/c it is MISERABLE trying to deal with these people and have them send the prescription elsewhere for you. The girl who answered the phone was INCREDIBLY rude as soon as she heard me say I was ordering them somewhere else cheaper & needed them to fax the prescription, I also had to call 3 times about this. I would go here for an exam again, but I will make sure I get the prescriptions before I leave so that I never have to deal with any of the sales associates again. read more

I went to America's Best because they advertise 2 pairs of bifocals with eye exam for $99 on their website. They refused to sell me a pair at that price. I contacted customer service, which offered to deduct the $45 cost of the eye exam from a purchase of 2 pairs of bifocals at $59.95/pair. Here's my reply to them: "It looks like I can't get the 2 pairs of bifocals for $99 deal. If I get 2 pairs of $59.95 glasses and frames, it'll cost me $119.90. When you subtract the $45 cost of my eye exam, you're left with $74.90. When you add $74.90 + $45=$119.90, which is my out-of-pocket cost. It's a ripoff. It's misleading advertising, and I'll never set foot in an America's Best store again. Because this is deceptive advertising, I'm reporting it to the Federal Trade Commission, and I'll warn every person I can on social media about this scam." read more

I am so impressed with this company ! I do not carry vision insurance so I always look around for a great deal. and this is it ! as a matter of fact if you do carry eye insurance this is still it !! I was greeted cheerfully at the front door and given the smallest new patient form ever. which I loved. got that filled out and turned in then I was escorted to the waiting room where I waited to see the optometrist for 15 mins maybe less. I had done my research before making my appointment so I was familiar with the packages they would try to sell. they were not pushy at all. and I got 3 different packages. #1 the eye club for 99.00 #2 two pairs of glasses for 69.99 #3 the test to check for underlying health issues. $15. the only thing that wasn't clear to me before I arrived was the cost of the lenses. mine were $130 for two pair because I have severe astigmatism. so this was not a huge shock to me. they do have free lenses but they're not very attractive very thick. so keep that in mind. I would recommend this business to anyone ! also I highly recommend the eye care club for $99 it can't be beat. read more
