This is my second time we have used this business. The first time- not too bad but I went in a few weeks ago for a contact lense exam and it was just horrible. Now I will say, everyone that work behind the counters are all very nice but my exam and subsequent interactions were the problem. My exam was later in the afternoon, and the pre eye tests (glaucoma, eye pressure, corneal topography, and OCT (that I paid extra for), were a mess. The technician did not wipe the machines (I did it myself) and she had to do the test where they flash the bright light in your eyes 7 times! She kept saying the machine was not getting close enough.....but she controls how close it would get! I had such skewed vision and a headache after all the flashes. When I saw the Dr (Winward) and I came in the room, he was looking at his pc, didn't look at me and just said sit down. He did the exam in less than 5 mins, he said my eyes had gotten a bit worse and that my astigmatism was a bit worse. We spoke about lenses for astigmatism and off I was sent out. Only after I left did I realize he didn't even discuss the extra scan I paid for- I had to wait to go back and ask him and he said "it was fine". Every other dr I have seen would put it up and discuss the health of my eye etc. When I was paying, they were charging me extra for the lense exam, even though my insurance covers it and when I questioned the extra charge, the technician said it must be for 'the free trial lenses' Huh? If it's free why am I paying for it. I paid rather than argue. Then after deciding to not use astigmatism lenses, I went by to pick up my regular prescription, and noticed that the script somehow (based on last exam) had gotten better??? How so, when the dr said my eye were worse- I can barely see with my old script, and now it's better! Absolutely not going to spend money to buy lenses for that prescription. I have scheduled an exam a real optometrist. Save your money and find somewhere else to get your eyes checked....... read more

The service is fine in of itself. Nothing crazy or outstanding. But the phone provider/service is absolutely horrible. There is a delay EVERY TIME I call. I know it isn't an issue on my end as I have no troubles with anyone else besides when I call Americas Best. Please fix as it's very frustrating on both ends when there is no answer besides waiting 5 seconds between each answer. read more

You were recommended to me by my sister so I brought my prescription from excel I center into you to get glasses. I selected my glasses which were bifocals and you billed me for 50% which I paid and then I came in to pick up my glasses and paid the rest, It was about $275. The glasses were so bad that I had to bring them back in the first couple of weeks, Since you didn't do the eye exam there I asked you if you would do it and you did and redid my prescription I came in and picked up the glasses. They were a little bit better but still not great but I decided to give them a chance I have only worn those glasses three or four times in the whole year my $1 reading glasses from the Dollar Tree at a 2.75 lens are as good as your $275 glasses. I get angry when I see your commercials on TV with your little owl that says you bought your glasses at the wrong place I truly believe I did. read more

I don't write reviews ever so the fact that I'm writing this should tell you how strong my feelings are for Americas "Best" Contacts blah blah. I've been coming here fore almost 4 years now and I WILL NOT be back. It has taken me nearly 2 months to get my contacts. I first had to go in for a updated eye exam, which I scheduled 2 weeks in advance, I have a very busy schedule so I scheduled my exam with plenty of time to get to school after. However, even though I had an apt I waited 2 1/5 hours to even get into to the doctor, making me late for school. Then they insisted I change contact brands so I had to get a "trial" pair of contacts to wear for a week which they didn't have so they had to order them. When ordering these they told me they would be shipped to my house, so I waited... and waited and waited until I finally called and the girl on the phone said "oh yeah they're here." Very frustrating but whatever. I picked them up tried them out for a week and ordered a 6 month supply of them, which they also told me would be sent to my house in 5-7 business days... it's been a week and a half and I have YET TO RECEIVE MY CONTACTS. If I call and they are sitting there, they will feel my wrath sorry but not acceptable. I've gone without contacts for 2 months now. Not worth my time and effort just to try and get a simple contact order. Terrible terrible service. read more

went in for the 2 pairs of glasses and eye exam for $69.95. It was as I imagined, very limited glasses with the minimum charge. You get 2 free glasses that are listed as $69.99 or less. I found a pair listed at 69 and 79 that I liked, I would liked to have paid the difference of $10, but instead I paid over $100. In the end, an exam and 2 pair for $100 isn't bad, I imagine. I made an appointment, but had 1 guy ahead of me that seemed to have every question in the books, it took about 45 minutes to see the Dr. and I was done in about 5 minutes. 15 minutes later, after they helped the same diarrhea mouth order his glasses I had my glasses ordered within another 5 minutes and I was out the door. read more

So, I had an overnight flight to Utah from Hawaii, next thing I know I have extremely eye pain and my right eye was going blind. Luckily I was a member of the eye club from when I got my contact lenses about 6 months ago and they were able to get me an appointment in the same day. Dr Cooper looked at my eye that was in really bad shape with a really bad ulcer and knew exactly what to do and what prescription I needed. He did a follow up in two days and with my eye getting significantly better. No more pain, no more blurry vision and getting better. All I can say is thank you for the great professionalism and the staff being so proactive. Don't get carried away by the other reviews. 10 out of 10! read more

This place lost my wife and me as customers after we've been coming for almost a decade. There was a big staff change in the past few years, and not for the best. Before the change everyone at this location was OK to great. But the new staff is uniformly horrible. The eye doctor (tall younger white guy with pale short hair) rushed through the exam with a very cold and indifferent manner, didn't check my wife's eyes visually (up close with a magnifier) even though the previous MD noted a possible iris problem in her file that required annual monitoring. The optician (young dark haired woman) who sold the glasses was a motormouth, interrupting us when we asked questions, and she failed to answer our questions in simple terms. We are not opticians, we don't understand all the technical terms. You need to dumb it down a bit. They made a mistake on my wife's contacts prescription, something that had never happened before, and it required a second visit to adjust. There was also an error on her glasses , so there was another delay in getting it fixed (right and left lenses were flipped, but I don't know 100% if this was the fault of America's Best or the company that made the glasses but it had never happened before all the staff changes, so do the math). Worse of all, they never told us how people with new progressive lenses shouldn't drive with the glasses for a few days until you adjust to them. We had to learn about this fact on a YouTube video, because the motormouth optician left us deeply confused. Stay away. Horrible store, horrible people, horrible business, horrible customer service. read more

Do not come to this location and check other reviews! I had a eye exam here a few months back, paid an extra $15 bucks for the special exam too. Just found out from a real eye doctor that I have a stigmatism in my eye and stigmatisms don't just grow overnight. They also gave me a cheap pair of contact's that 2 out of the box were already unwearable. Stay away from America's best! Look for some papers in the mail you theifs! read more

You are considered a customer at this place, not a patient. I was content with the service I got during my first visit except that they did not have the contacts I needed in stock. I was told they would order me trial lenses in the brand I needed and let me know when they arrived. The Dr. offered me monthly lenses then that message got lost so I had to ask for one set of monthly lenses to hold me over until they came in. It didn't register in any staff member's mind that they were sending me away with glasses that were an old prescription and no contacts (or they didn't care) Fast forward one and a half months: I am in the middle of a hectic school and work schedule and realize that I have been wearing the monthly contacts for over a month and am wondering where my trial lenses are and why a month and a half after my visit I have not been contacted. At this point I had no contacts, no glasses and the Dr. had not even given me a generic prescription (I later did some research and found out not giving out a generic prescription after an exam is illegal). I called America's Best and asked to order six months worth of the contacts and was told I needed to come in for a follow-up exam. I was not told this when I originally visited. Their excuse for that was that whichever staff member failed to inform me about the follow-up was in training. The funny part about this is that it was the same staff member. I scheduled an follow-up for the next day. I get to the follow-up and am asked why I am not wearing my contacts. I tell them that I have to use my glasses because the ones they gave me are too old and are irritating my eyes. I was then informed that they cannot do the follow up until I'm wearing my contacts (that they still haven't given me). This is where it gets really interesting. The doctor comes out and asks why I don't have contacts. I am looking at the computer screen over the reception desk and see that one order was made on the date of my original appointment, one order was made five days after that (unbeknown to me) and one order was placed on the day that I called to schedule the follow up. Three orders, no contacts. Just wait. It gets better. The doctor then tells me he is sorry his staff mismanaged the situation and that he is going to fix the problem. He says my contacts should be in before too long and offers another trial pair of monthly lenses which I accepted. While I'm leaving he starts to say if they haven't called within a week to...and I cut him off and say if they haven't called within a week I'm getting a refund. Over two weeks later I call the office again. I sat and watched the phonecall timer in my car hit 16 min. before she came back on to update me that she hadn't found my contacts. They were backordered. Three different orders over the course of two months were "backordered." I told her this was ridiculous and demanded a refund. She said they were only able to give me $20 back because the other cost was for the exam. I had no proof that I had even had an exam. It did me absolutely no good because I still could not see! Shortly after I hung up on her the office manager called and I told her my situation and finished by telling her I was completely done with them. She responded that I could come in and get a full refund. Later that week I went for my refund. They apologized but still made no attempt to right the wrong. I wasn't given complimentary contacts, even though I still didn't have contacts and they knew from their records that my glasses were below prescription. I was offered no incentive to return. They dropped the ball so many times in this process...least of all being that I not once was contacted by the office. I had to contact them. I am not badmouthing anyone. This review is the exact experience I had. I would not recommend them to anyone, even those on a budget. You will be treated like a customer, not a patient. read more

I have to say that America's Best has really gone down hill. I used to love them. The progressive glasses that I got here several years ago were amazing. But the last progressives I purchased have been horrible. I bought 3 pair of glasses and spent almost $700. One of the glasses broke right away and the girl at America's Best told me that they were not able to put the arm back on for me. In addition, I have been getting such bad headaches every time I wear the glasses, I can't wear them anymore. I talked to one of the girls at America's Best who was very nice and said of course, bring them in and we will have them recheck your eyes and then fix your glasses. When I brought them in, I had the rude girl again. No help. No recheck. What a waste of my time and money. I will not use America's Best again. read more

My son had an appointment at the Orem location this past weekend, everything went well until we sat down to go over what was recommended by the Dr. I had turned down the recommendation and the representative didn't seem to happy about it and started to get pushy and made me feel like I had to go with the Dr.'s recommendation rather than what I felt would be a better option for my son. After I paid for the services she rudely went over my purchase, when I had a questions about my son's prescription she made a snarky remark. I will not be referring anyone to this location. This location may have had issues in the past, but I had an awesome experience this time. Dr. Cooper is simply the best eye doctor I've ever seen. He took extra time to get my prescription dialed in just right, as well as answer my questions. I may have had to wait a few minutes to see the doctor after my initial eye tests, but I appreciate his willingness to spend a little extra time with me, so it doesn't bother me if he does the same thing for other patients. read more

My husband came to this location last Saturday. I realize that you get what you pay for, however I felt very uncomfortable in this location. Never shop at America's Best. They trick you into a price you agree upon upfront, but a month after receiving your glasses, they send you a bill saying 'nevermind, I think we will charge you another $20.' So don't shop here unless you enjoy paying for your glasses once, and then enjoy making a mandatory donation later. read more

If you have to choose between being blind, and going to America's Best, go blind. This place is an absolute scam. They say $70 for 2 pairs of glasses + exam, but they'll give you some bullshit reason to jack the price up ("you have a pretty bad astigmatism, so you're lenses are gonna cost more if you don't want the coke-bottle look), your glasses (godawful quality glasses at that) will end up costing you $200-300. Not only that, they can't even get the prescription right. The staff is completely incompetent, and their only purpose is to upsell and gouge you as much as they can. Avoid at all costs. read more

1. The staff is extremely unprofessional. Every time I walk in there, the girls at the desk are just talking about their dating lives while I'm waiting to be helped. 2. Only a PORTION of the staff can help me. Every time I walk in there they say, "Please wait in the waiting room and someone will be able to help you in just a few minutes." Umm... well, I wait about 10 minutes while, again, I sit in the back while half the staff is sitting at the front desk doing nothing and chatting about their personal lives. 3. The girl that helped me change my order on my contacts had NO idea what she was doing. It was a SIMPLE return and an order change and she had no idea how to fix the problem. THEN it took her a whole 5 minutes to get the other employee's attention for help (who, of which, was busy gossiping about another CUSTOMER'S personal life to another employee!) I couldn't believe my eyes and ears! 4. The doctor, Dr. Farrell Roe, was extremely creepy. He invaded my personal space by putting his arm on MY arm rest as he talked to me. Considering I'm a 23 year old girl and he is a 60-something old man, it was really, really creepy. THEN he prescribed me contacts that were NO WHERE NEAR my original prescription. Yes, I understand that your eyes change -- but not this much. For the last 3 years, my left eye has been a -5.50. He prescribed me a -3.25! I put in my new contacts this morning and couldn't see a thing. 5. After realizing I had the wrong contacts, I called back to schedule ANOTHER eye exam, and the lady who answered the phone was EXTREMELY rude. Don't go here. They're rude, unprofessional and the doctor invades your personal space. read more

I've been a customer with America's Best for years, Originally from a Davis County location until we moved to Orem. Since we moved to the orem location they have been nothing but trouble. Each time we go in we get a different story from what they said the last time. There has never been any consistency of product, price, being signed up on their eye care program. or anything. If you're planning on going to get contacts and glasses, expect to pay $200, the deals aren't very great and "don't apply to everyone's eyes". My glasses are obviously the wrong prescription and make me sick every time I wear them, but I don't want to go back to the doctor. The workers were all very nice but the doctor is just a creep. He had his crotch all up on my legs when examining my eyes, and I'm tiny so it wasn't cuz there was no room. I went home and told my mom and she said he did the exact same thing to her! I got the three year exam plan but now I'm too skeeved out to even get my glasses fixed so one star for the creepy doc but all the other workers are very nice. read more

I went into Americas Best in Orem last week to get new contacts when I was there I was asked if I wanted glasses or contacts I told the girl helping me I was there for glasses but would like some info on contacts since I might be interested again (I had previously had hard contacts and had a bad experience with them) So I wanted to ask the doctor some questions, she said no problem. I then ran by what I thought was my typical eye exam and the doctor answer some questions about hard contacts for me saying he could order me some that would be much better than what I had in the past. I informed him it was something I would want to try in the FUTURE and made sure to mention I wasn't responsible for paying for my visit therefore didn't want to add any extra to my charge. He said that was fine and that I could get an estimate charge up at the register and once I was ready they could get them ordered up. once I went to the register and was charged for my visit they charged me and EXTRA $75! I told them I was told a free exam was offered when purchasing eyeglasses but I was charged for a CONTACT EXAM that I DID NOT ask for or was made aware I was taking. I was so disappointed but decided not to fight them on the charge since I was given the exam whether I had asked for it or not.. I've been a customer for 6 years now and this is a terrible way to cheat your customers . Not sure if I will be back. read more
