I'm surprised by all of the low ratings for this America's Best location in Paramus. I bought a pair of reading glasses from here recently. I placed my order with Lesley, who was really helpful, about two weeks ago. One week later, I received a text alert that they were ready for pickup. I went to the store last week. Dave helped me with adjusting the frames to fit my face before giving me my glasses. Overall, I was happy with my experience and plan to go back for my distance glasses. read more

The wait time is insulting...what's the point of making an appointment if you have to wait almost an hour to be examined?!

I walked into America's Best today and let me say.., They are NOT doing their best to service the customers. They do have a nice selection but the customer service is subpar. Not only do they FAIL to greet the customers but instead of asking g if anyone needs help, they eat at their desks and ignore anyone coming in. It's a shame because they have a nice selection. I'm very not pleased with this particular store! I've used this store & purchased atleast 2 to 3 times and now It's a problem with being contated /replying about questions concerning my purchase. I called the store "numerous times to see if & when my order call would arrived. I also call the store "numerous" times to no answer or call back! I feel like they don't care about my eye issues. I called corporations to complain or find out where my glasses are with no answer. I conclusion to this company is to do & be better & show that you care about yr customers. read more

5:00 on a Monday evening. The girl behind the desk said hello, while never taking her eyes off of her computer screen when I walked in. No how are you doing today, or how can we help you? 2 other girls in the store sitting at desks, one on her cell phone, the other on her computer. Neither even raised an eyebrow. I wandered the store looking, picking up an occasional pair to examine. Was there for no less then five minutes. By the way, every pair that I picked up was so filthy and greasy that I would never put them on my face!! Finally I asked the desk girl if someone could help me, and she asked the 2 girls if either of them could help me, one picked up the garbage bags that she had obviously gathered earlier and walked away, the other spun her chair around and looked at me. No smile, no greeting. I let them all calmly know how I felt and walked out. What has happened to customer service? Going to Warby Parker!!! read more

Yes, another ripoff scam. I went in there. August 22, 2024 looking for there 2 pair of eyeglasses and exam for $79.99 ! I specifically requested this, This. The Young lady said, would you like to get a prescription for contacts as well. No mention of any extra cost, She said all this in one breath. I said, "Does that come with the 2 glasses deal?" She noted, "Yes" , I said sure I wear contacts from time to time. There was no mention of an "added charge" I went through the eye exam and picked out my frames from the $79.99 section. Then I sat down with the person that takes the Frames and rights up your bill , And does the order. Not once was it mentioned That the contact lens exam Alone was an extra $109.00 ! When I said you can keep the contact lens prescription? I'll just order.The glasses , this they said I couldn't do that. I asked why not? She Said because you had The contact lens exam. No one told me it was extra I asked the first person I spoke with They said it was Included. She said, "Oh no it's separate, and I can't order your Glasses without you paying the Total amount. She went to check with her so-called management .Which seemed like a used car salesman scam. Twice I offered to pay for the glasses now, She said she couldn't her So called manager won't allow it? So now I. 've been here one hour went through the exams, And picked out my frames .I'm ready to go. She would not allow me to pay for My bargain glasses without paying the additional hundred and nine dollars !!! Beware of this particular America's best. On route 4 in paramus. I've been to two other NJ locations & they were not as great as this one. I recently moved to the area & found this one was closest. I came in a little later for an emergency check up/exam and upon completion Dr. Patel did her best to make sure I get into an ophthalmologist right away. The exam took a little longer but the staff and herself made sure I would get seen ASAP. My first time at this place, Making the appointment was easy, but customer service, sucks, I didn't like the poor attention given to customers, Hello is the customer who contributes to your salary payment, but the Dr was very pleasant, it's just the rest of the staff was not friendly and helpful. Especially the first technician who did the pre-exam before the Doctor she belongs in boot camp, yes sir no sir kind of services. Took forever to see the doctor the workers were rude as hell don't go here for your eyes your be for hours!

I brought my daughter here for an eye exam and the exam suppose to be $59.00. They have 3 different machines in the room and tell you that if you want your eyes checked for cataracts or check for glaucoma it's extra. It costs 59.00 to stand by the door and put your hand over your eye and tell them what you see. So don't come here expecting an eye exam for 59.00. read more

Had a great experience here! Came in for a eyeglasses and contact lens exam. I scheduled online and completed most of the check-in paperwork online as well!! They are super efficient in scheduling online and text reminders. When I arrived, staff was very friendly and informative in explaining the benefits of the eye club member deal. The location and facility itself is very well kept - clean and tidy. The front area has a bunch of frames organized by price and gender for trial. The back has a large waiting room, 2 pre-test rooms and few doctors exam rooms. I had the pleasure of interacting w/ Dr. Bhavsar who was very professional and answered all my questions/concerns nicely. It was a great visit - quick in and out and nice service! This is a great place to get reasonably priced eyeglasses! My mom needed glasses to pass the vision test at MVC. We were able to get the appointment very quickly. The doctor was great, really took her time to evaluate my mom and did a very thorough check, not rushed like some other doctors offices can be. After the check up she was able to pick two pairs of glasses, one for distance and another one for reading. They have a good selection. It cost us $105 for both glasses including the exam, can't beat this anywhere in Bergen County. She is very happy with her new glasses! Thank you! Went out of my way to make it there to get some new glasses because I was just given a new prescription. 2 customers in store and three employees. I walk up to the one employee who wasn't wearing a mask and available. He puts on his mask and asks me if I have one. I told him I did not and he said he could give me one. I asked was it necessary? Not a fan - if I could give negative stars this location would be its recipient. My mother & I had a VERY negative experience there. In fact, the majority of the employees were rude, dismissive and unconcerned about issues I raised on the amount of time we were there - nearly 3 hours. The young lady named Brittany, I believe it is, could not answer questions without being snarky. The nicest ones working there are the young lady at check in, pre-test & the ophthalmologist. I questioned the time we were there because I was working & had to take a vacation day because of the delay. Had I known this, I could have planned accordingly. They move like molasses in that location. Could be because they were all busy huddled in the corner & conversing with each other. I also noticed the treatment we received versus the other young lady customer that was there was far different. The optician (Jovan? I think is his name) who ended up working with my mother was very rude. He even went so far as to tell me they can't plan their time around my schedule and kept calling me "dawg". We felt coerced into paying extra for more expensive frames AND lenses because according to him "the other ones aren't good". When quite frankly, my limited income mother could not afford any of the options he presented. He would not even discuss the affordable options America's Best has during our time with him. In fact, he ended up upselling & once he realized he was about to lose the sale he said "I'm trying to help you as much as I can". We were paying out of pocket with no insurance. I ended up paying for the two pairs of glasses & lenses on my credit card - but honestly, I am not happy AT ALL. If my mother didn't need these glasses, I would not have proceeded with the order & walked out. In comparison, I went today, 11/18 to the Edgewater location for my husband. It was like NIGHT & DAY! I appreciated that we weren't forced into anything we could not afford. They were informative & they answered all of our questions. They were not at all dismissive, abrupt, rude or bothered by our questions. After all, this is an investment. Plus we only spent 75 mins there versus the nearly 3 hours I spent the day before in Paramus. I even called Paramus location back today and asked a question about the lens order and they were still rude & dismissive. Personally, I would like the Optician's supervisor and the store manager from Paramus to contact me to discuss our experience & have contacted AB Customer Care about our experience in Paramus. I will never, in good faith, recommend anyone to go to that location. I had also contemplated going there for my own exam & lenses but I will NOT go back there but to pick up my mothers glasses. Do not come here! horrible place to go!!!!! i work 7 days a week and today was my only day off and I scheduled a appointment for today at 5pm. I finally get to the the place after Fighting route 17 traffic. they tell me that I have to wait a moment to see if the doctor has lock up her stuff already. finally the girl comes back and tells me the doctor locked up the stuff and turned off all her machines knowing I have an appointment at 5 PM today. They don't close until 6pm. so the girls behind the counter tell me I have to reschedule my appointment. also they tell me that I have a 10 minutes time limit if your late. The is such bad for Business. They should not be scheduling people at 5pm then if everyone is worried about getting out a half hour early then you're supposed to close. This location in particular was pretty good until I had a follow up appointment. I understand we are in a pandemic, but this one day in particular, I was in my car, driving for 20 minutes with my heat blasting. Of course I am going to get very warm! I walked right in, got my temperature taken and it came out to 100 degrees. I explained to the receptionist that I apologize, I just came in from my very warm car. All I asked was a few minutes to cool down. She proceeded to take my temperature again after 30 seconds where I was still 100 degrees- surprise! Another employee came up and started saying out loud "Yeah it's definitely COVID she has to quarantine". I was then rescheduled two weeks from that date. I explained that trial contacts would expire by then, and she said that I could get another trial ones (how if I am supposed to get another pair if I have to "quarantine"?) I then went home and checked my temperature again for 3 hours- I was 97 degrees! I then called again and explained to the manager Dave everything and I was able to get my appointment back for the following day. Again, I understand we are in a pandemic but It had been less than five days since I last tested negative and I am fully vaccinated. I left my driving glasses at home in CA by mistake and needed another pair for my time in NJ. That's one thing I love about this chain - they can access all your records via computer no matter where you are. Last year I actually ordered a pair of glasses in CA and picked them up in NJ - though at another branch further away because this one wasn't open yet. Anyway, Dave the manager also suggested I get an exam while I was there in case anything had changed. It had been a while since I'd had one and it was beneficial. The eye doctor (sorry, forgot her name) was very nice, friendly and professional as was everyone I encountered there. Dave also suggested to get one pair with tinted lenses as I'd had for night driving to cut down on oncoming headlight glare, and to get the other pair with clear lenses if I needed them in foggy daylight. Excellent suggestion. Glad that they are at this location, much more convenient for me than Fort Lee or Garfield. They have proper Covid protocols in place so I felt very secure going there.
