Toilet water was running all the time. Shower curtain is moldy. Bed is very hard. Pillows too soft. Air conditioning filter was clogged, we cleaned it and unit still didn't work very well. Refrigerator was frozen (freezer side was full of ice at least 1.5 inches thick). Carpet felt very moist in some areas. $15.00 cash deposit for pet, refundable after they check your room (that's only fair). Overall, we couldn't sleep very well. read more

I was greeted at the front desk by a very rude attendant. When I asked him what his rate was with a CDL or military discount he rudely responded with $75 which I felt over priced. When I asked him if that was the best he could do he asked what price was I looking for I responded with $50 he told me to go to a crackhead motel across town. I assured him I will go elsewhere and not give his crackhead motel my business, as soon as he said they weren't a crackhead motel I shit you not a drug addicted man comes walking out of a motel room in front of my car saying I thought this was a restaurant. Stay away from this place if at all possible, the employee was rude it's overpriced and takes in drug addicts who need help by getting clean. read more

Based upon my experience I am giving a five star rating because of the customer service. I came to Mt Vernon from California due to a family emergency, a very difficult time. I didn't know how long I would be staying so I chose this place to save money. I had called and spoke with the owner who was very understanding of the reason I was in town. He and his wife showed me so much concern, asking often how my Mom was doing. The weekend and night desk clerks and housekeeping showed the same level of professionalism and concern! Yes it is not The W nor The Ritz Carlton, but the customer service, the cleanliness and the location supersedes all!!! Thank you to the owners and staff!!! read more

Taking a cross country road trip and decided to stop in for a few hours of rest. We checked in and paid $90.79 for a room with two beds. The room smelled of smoke despite being a non-smoking room. My daughter crawled into bed immediately and after I unloaded the baby from the car I found an unidentified black bug crawling on her bed. I got her out of bed quickly and loaded the family back up. We went across the street to the brand new, nicely lit up hotel that starts with a "D". On the way back through town we will stay at the same location. I want to note, the front desk clerk was extremely nice, friendly and apologetic. I hated to be "that person" but, I don't do bugs and I can't stand the smell of smoke. read more

Internet was fastest I've ever had in a hotel. I paid 68 after tax. Clean and friendly. This is a nice place to stay.

Fairly cheap prices however we paid for a queen size bed in a non smoking room and got a full size bed in room that reeked of smoke. The sheets felt old and not very comfortable. Also, the water pressure in the shower was very low, it took much longer to shower because of it. read more

WORST HOTEL STAY OF MY ENTIRE LIFE!! MOUNT VERNON, IL. Calling all the way there to find out exit number, no answer ALL DAY! first red flag regarding customer service! Finally half hr.before arriving,an answer,sends me down wrong exit after she calls the owner to ask, and tells him I am coming from the east after I told her I was coming from the south, second red flag. Checking in, there is a lady coming in telling her all her electric is out, she tells her give her a sec and she will trip the circuit in the laundry room that will fix it, third red flag. Hang in this gets way, way worse. I go in my room settle in, get comfortable, realize I don't have the wifi password, pick up phone to dial 0 to ask, no answer. get all my clothes back on get bundled back up to go back down to office, she's on her cell phone gabbing to a friend or someone, hence why she can't answer my call. How many red flags are we at now? No matter. That night round 3 am electric goes out in the hotel, can't call down to lobby of course as phone is always on night calls and no body ever picks up. So I get dressed and go down there to see what's going on. They tell me all electricity on whole side of street is out. I look out at the parking lot, and Hardee's is lit up like a Christmas Tree. But I go back to my room and back to bed. Next day I happen to walk into the office while the night girl who hasn't left quite yet(and who happens to be only American worker I ever saw there, all the rest are Asian Indian) is on the phone to the owner (who lives in another state and knows nothing of what goes on in this place) until I tell him. He is very professional about it, gives me 25% off one night stay($12.50), has them clean my room thoroughly the next day, which the manager Patel was not happy about one bit. The reason I know this is because I sitting at Hardee's right across the parking lot watching them go into my room thinking, wow, they're all going in there, and he looking mad, waving his arms all around shouting orders at them, making a shooing motion with his hand to the guy with the vacuum cleaner as if to say, just do it quick.He did not like the idea of having to cater to this white girl one little bit. that's right, that's what I said. He was very prejudice, and very, very angry about having to do it. And the sad part was, I didn't ask for it. But here is the real kicker, and you're not even going to believe it, because I still don't believe it. I called the office this morning and he actually answered. I asked him very politely how he was going to refund the 25% if my card had already been charged. He immediately took offense and said I only just this morning started doing my charge backs, and it will take a couple of days for you to see it. I said ok, that's fine, I understand ( I was late for an appt. and needed to get going) when he said, no let me finish. And I repeated, I understand you answered my question, at which point he totally went off on me and began yelling at me. You have my whole staff upset because you have been so rude to them, calling about the toilet being clogged all the time(the toilet stopped up twice, should I have said nothing?) and not getting good enough service and all kinds of stuff. I said, if you're having a bad day, I'm sorry, but don't take it out on me please.He was acting like a total physco. So after he hung up I called down to the office and told the girl I needed to speak to the owner right away and to have him call me. Now mind you the American girl had left and now it was the physco man's wife down there. She said no, he's not here, he lives out of state. I said if you don't let me talk to him to tell him what is happening to me here, I am going to report him for harassing me. So the next thing I know, are you ready for this? The police are knocking at my room door to escort me out of hotel room. OMG! lol! I don't think they could even believe what idiots these people are. They were very kind. They could clearly see I wasn't doing anything at all wrong. They waited very patently while I booked another room at the days Inn down the street, which by the way, is so much better than that place there is absolutely no comparison. They waited while I brushed my teeth. I mean, if they weren't so mean, hateful and wicked, it would almost be comical. But, it wasn't. And when I get home, I have every intention of hiring an attorney and filing a law suit. Don't go there. It's not worth what these managers will put you through. I told the owner what was going on at his hotel, and they were going to make me pay for it. I try my best to be a kind, God loving woman. I am NOT rude to people. I just call things as I see them. But these people are just nuts. read more

If I could give a negative start review I would. This Hotel denied a Navy Serviceman and his young bride a room while en-route to his base after driving 10 hours because they were not 21 years old! He is old enough to serve his country and protect their Freedom but not old enough to sleep in their beds. Shame on you America's Best Inn! You don't deserve to Have that name on your building. This place should be shut down. Rooms were filthy. Shower safety handle was full of scum. Shower walls dirty with hair. Floors were filthy. Sheets dingy and stained. Bed spread had dark stains, blood? Pillows flat. Help at desk were useless. DONT STAY HERE....DO YOURSELF A FAVOR. read more
