Our propane delivery was missed and we were with no heat in the middle of winter for a week. Worst company ever. I recently got 2 tanks at a Walmart in Dinuba, CA and 1 of the tanks had a bad valve. I called customer service and have gotten a replacement code 2 different times both of witch are worthless. were worthless. I have contacted customer service with no resolution. Their people barley speak English and are worthless. I tried for a supervisor and billing, worthless. I lost a good tank for a bad one and now stuck with it. Literally the worst company I have ever dealt with. They have been lying to me nonstop for 4 days straight. Everyone on the support line is totally clueless and wants you to suffer. I have been trying to place an order every day and they keep saying its placed, yet the next day there was never any order placed. What a bunch of scam artists!!! No one answers and you go to a call center where no one is able to make any decisions... I requested half a tank refill and they filled it all the way. When I requested a pump out (as I didn't want to pay for the full tank refilled) they agreed. A few weeks later they did the pump out but the driver never listed it so no refund... I was able to show by how empty the tank was that the pump out happened but they still refused to refund me. After 2 dozen calls I gave up, went to Ferrellgas, and told them to take their stuff... We are terminating service after 4 years and their new terms charge us $149.99 to remove an empty tank that isn't even hooked up! For 4 days these people left my 84 year old elderly handicapped parents sitting in their home in the foothills with no heating of any kind. Each day they promised they would be there before 2 and each day they didn't show or call. Every day they tried to find out where the delivery was they waited for over 45 minutes to get a live person. When they finally did they just said we've been having some issues and they promised they would be there again before 4 and to call them again if the propane wasn't delivered. This went on for 4 days. They still have no propane and now we have had to go with another propane company that promised to deliver this morning. Absolutely horrendous service. Or lack of any. If I could give a "horrific" star rating I would. Amerigas' lack of response and performance far exceeds "not good". My situation is happening right now. I suspected a leaking underground pipe so I called Amerigas. They came out the same day, confirmed it as such, shut off the propane and locked down the tank (to be unlocked upon Madera County inspection sign-off.) So far, so good. I had the pipe replaced. The County of Madera inspector came out the same day I called them due to the fact that I had no heat and nights were getting down to 36 degrees --An empathetic response for which I am very grateful. As soon as the inspection was signed-off on, Monday Jan. 18th., I called Amerigas to come unlock the tank. Today is DAY EIGHT since I called Amerigas to unlock my tank and turn my gas back on. (This is a five-minute task at best.) I've called FIVE times. Each time they've been apologetic and I was told they would "escalate my case" and someone would be calling me to schedule an appointment. No one has called. Yesterday when I called, I was told that my situation has been "upgraded to an emergency", yet still no call, no gas, no heat. It was below freezing last night. The inside temperature of my house has now dropped to 53 degrees. I'm holed up in one room with my animals and a space heater, becoming more enraged with each passing day. Not receiving as much as a phone call from these people is inexcusable. They were sure great when they wanted my business, but evidently now that they've got it, I can just suck it and freeze to death. Needless to say, I'll be changing companies. Before Thanksgiving I noticed the propane wasn't feeding to our house properly. So I called in and requested someone to come out. With no hot water, gas for our stove or heat I didn't hear back from them. My husband even called in and told them about the issues we were having. Still no one called back. We ended up calling suburban propane and telling them about our issue- they came out and swapped Amerigas tank for theirs and resolved our issue. We thankfully had hot water, heat and a working stove before we hosted thanksgiving. After all of this Amerigas finally came out to collect their tank. They collected it and now want to charge us to pick up the tank. We didn't WANT to switch service but had to given basic needs. I will never recommend Amerigas to anyone! AmeriGas is trying to scam their customers. I paid for 100 gallons of propane under the promotion, buy 100 gallons and get $50 off. Turns out they only filled my tank 98 gallons so that I would not qualify for the promotion. Now, I owe $112+; 42 for unpaid balance and 72 for 2 months of late fees. read more

I hate leaving a bad review when businesses are hurting, but this is beyond upsetting. My 70 year old father has been low on propane for weeks. We gave them plenty of notice. They have given us not one, not two, but three commitments that they have now no showed on. They were supposed to come today and didn't show up AGAIN. No call or apology- they didn't even have us on the delivery route. We're now on a "high priority list" with no commitment on when propane will actually be delivered. I had my propane tank filled up on January 24th. We had to have a valve lock put on due to a leak in the flex line. Got the part and replace and called on January 31st. Was told no one could come out until February 13th between 8 am and 12 pm. No one showed up on appointment day. I have been calling ever since and they keep trying to make an appointment for another 2 weeks. I have a Special Needs Son and a 17 month old Granddaughter with Cystic Fibrosis and still have a lock on my tank. I'm giving you 1 star because I can't give you 0. We've used this company for 5 years and never had a problem. Up until this year. They just decided to not offer a payment plan anymore even though that's what was being done for FIVE YEARS. During a Pandemic, you'd think they'd be a little more flexible to loyal customers. They've charged me over $100 in late fees along with the fact that the price per gallon I was quoted was NOT what I was charged. I was just told "Oh... well, I don't know what to tell you." Michelle, the supervisor, did nothing to help and was not in the mood to ever help me. I won't ever use them again and I'll make sure everyone I know follows suit. Anthony came late at night and didn't fill my tank. It was 10% when he started and 10% when he was leaving. He said my tank was at 65% and filled to 80%. I asked him why he put on record that my tank went from 65%-80% when it's completely empty and reading 10%, and he had no answers. I chose not to pick a fight with him but I was pissed they robbed me to my face. I thought I would just call the company and they would help but it's a call center in India who keeps telling me it's my problem and tough luck basically. So after 3 days of calling them I decided to call and say I'm a new customer trying to sign up. Sure enough it's a call center in the USA for that. Still no help, still no gas. I'm over here not taking showers or using my heating and Christmas is in 2 weeks. Amerigas seems like a bunch of scammers to me as well as everyone else. I'm certain the 1 good review they have will change after doing business with them they will find out. I rate NO star but Yelp doesn't allow it to go through with NO STAR!!! I have experienced taking a shower with COLD WATER on several occasions due to this company NOT showing up on my scheduled dates! During the time I've been with them, they have always called me upon arrival @ my residence since I have a closed gate. These past deliveries this month, they decided to show up and NOT call me but drive off because no one opened the gate. I have young children and have to warm up water to shower them because AmeriGas discrepancies! They have gone to call center answering their phone lines cause their customer service workers were so RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL! AmeriGas is not an understanding helpful company when it comes to COVID-19 pandemic economic hardship. After losing my job and on unemployment they want to force through a bill where they did nothing To support my service. I bought a cabin not knowing about their conditions, used the previous owners gas for about a month. Now amerigas is charging me $150 for early termination (3 year contract ) after going with another gas company-for 2 months of doing nothing. Is that fair? Admittedly mountain cabins are new to me and it sat for a while after I signed up. A prorated early termination rate I could understand. I'd say that comes under ' Adding insult to injury'...A large company using their muscle against someone that lost their job due to the coronavirus. read more

We discovered a gas leak in our propane line which AmeriGas had previously maintained. They came out, shut off and locked our tank and said they couldn't repair the line. After we had the line replaced it's taken three calls to schedule an appointment to unlock and reconnect the line. The first two "customer service" calls accomplished nothing. This is by far the worst propanw company I have ever dealt with. Pure incompetence plus bait and switch with their prices. I ordered propane in sept 2021 with a 30 day price guarantee of $2.09 per gallon. The company set delivery in October within the 30 days , but then forgot that I owned my own tank, so they cancelled delivery in order to do a safety check. My tank was fine and I still had a small bit of fuel in it. I told them I would waive any liability in order to fill my tank. They said they couldnt and set the safety check for Nov 29, some 6 weeks later. I had to leave my home and stay with relatives since it was getting cold and I onLy had 5% of fuel left. i got delivery in early December and then my bill, went from $2.04 a gallon to $2.74 a gallon . When I called them to make the adjustment to the price they said no that was the price at dElivery. Even after they agreed they had screwed up and that it was egregious , the refused to budge. He was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything to me. Their prices are very fair and they don't rake you over the coals in the winter time like other companies. The worst experience I've had with a company. The previous owner of my home installed an AmeriGas leased underground tank. This was in year 2000 making the tank over 20+ years old. Since it is owned by the service provider, I am under their lease program. Moved into house in 2016 and it's been the worst customer service since. It began with back and forth exchanges asking them why they are filling my tank when it's not low and charging me. Their explanations didn't make sense. After calling them out, I switched from auto-delivery to will-call so I had more control over deliveries and could track their fill amounts and rates. Maybe coincidental, but they promptly came out to put a wireless meter on my tank as if saying "better not use another provider, or else." Not only are their rates routinely ~two dollars more than competitors, but my rates are significantly more when compared to neighbors in my town who use AmeriGas. They've also not made deliveries within their agreed upon windows causing my tank to go empty in freezing weather; it wasn't until I went on social media that they acted on this. They make it impossible without paying excessive amounts of money to move on from them. I was told a couple years ago I could purchase my tank for $716. They lured me in with a temporary low rate. Fast forward to now, they are now saying in order for me to purchase my tank it will be $3522. This screams unethical. Not only do they not work with their customers to achieve a good relationship, but they go out of their way to leverage the cold weather and empty tank to make it impossible for a customer to get a fair rate or even purchase their tank. Also have to note, according to their customer service, they recently went "corporate." Doubt it's coincidental that the price of my tank magically increased nearly $3k. All I'm asking is for AmeriGas to make this right. Either give me a fair price on rates or give me a legitimate, fair price for my tank. read more

I definitely would give Amerigas a zero star if I could. This company has bullied us into keeping their service for 16 years. Amerigas policies and procedures are wrong on so many levels. They change the price of their product at will and with out notice. We have pre-paid most of the time to avoid some of the arbitrary fees. Most recently, we called to order propane 10 days ago and payed them almost$ 500 They finally show up today and decide to lock our gas propane tank therefore I have no hot water or heat. If they have showed up 10 days ago It would not have been empty. I had to go to work yesterday without showering and I'm waiting for them this morning to show up prior to 9 AM which they have promised to, I am doubtful that they will. My husband normally deals with them, but he is working out of town. I assumed they had come to fill up the tank when I was not home we prepaid for it. they Apparently they have a policy of coming to deliver 3-7 business days after you order. Hey showed up on the ninth day and locked my tank and left it off. because it was on empty which apparently is dangerous. I was down the street at the grocery store. No one notified me to tell me I was required to be home. They refused to come back so here I sit with no hot water or heat going on day2. They have blamed the entire problem on us. Responding by saying we should order our propane sooner, when the tank is half empty. (it's half full). Is this Communism? So if my car has half a tank of gas I should be required to go to the gas station to fill it or I won't be sold gasoline if it's a fourth of a tank. Amerigas is a huge company I don't understand how they are able to get away with these policies. We lease the tank we inherited when we purchased the home. Haven't been able to escape Amerigas Sometimes their prices are triple of what other propane companies charge. Thank Goodness we are moving! read more

I was a customer for 13 years only because that's the company the person I bought my house from used. I cancelled service with them last month. Why? The highest price for propane in the area. The incessant "nickel and dime" charges on top of the price of the fuel. An example; the last time I was quoted a price was $3.19 per gallon. I have a 500 gallon tank. I called 4 other companies, Every one was at least a dollar, or more, less. I called Amerigas. They gave me several reasons why the others were cheaper, none of which were true. I told them I was cancelling. They dropped the price to $2.20 - still higjher. So I cancelled. I was charged a fee to have their tank picked up - over $100.00. I could go on with horror stories about the way they do business but this will suffice; keep away! I went with Alta Propane, Reedley. A family service, fast, economical, friendly. I was a longtime customer...over 10 years and never late with payments. After the last tank fill on 1/23/19 at $4.99/gal (same price as previous fill on 11/13/18), I decided to check around for prices. Amerigas was at least two times higher than anyone else and sometimes more. I asked Amerigas for the current rate and was told $3.29/gal on 2/6/19 (still high!). When I asked why I was being billed $4.99/gal, I was told the price fluctuated on a daily basis. I told them not to bother coming back! Beware and call around! read more

Terrible customer service! I would give this company ZERO stars! I ordered propane when my tank was below 5% by ordering from the 800 number. I was told they would place the order and be out within a week to ten days. After 7 days I called to check on the order and I was told they never received the order. I told them I was down to less than 5% now. They apologized and said they would deliver it tomorrow if I pay in advance. I gave my credit card number and stayed home all day waiting. I finally called them about 3:30 to check on the delivery and I was told they could not come today, but they'll be here tomorrow. I told them I am now completely out of propane, without heat, stove or hot water. They took my money in advance, but did not deliver as promised. Terrible service! read more

I will now call around before just having propane delivered. I have been an Amerigas customer for a few years. Typically I have my tank full for the winter so I don't have to pay excessive prices, however I am currently selling my house and have been getting smaller deliveries. On 1/28 I bought 100 gallons for $3.53/gallon, on 2/19 I bought 200 gallons for $4.62/gallon....pretty excessive jump in 3 weeks. I called around and even spot market prices are under $4.00. What a shame that Amerigas gouges their customers. DO NOT get your propane here....get it from Suburban Propane...best spot price I was able to find. read more

DO NOT do business with this company. We opened an account with them in October of 2015. We were told about a promotion we could qualify for which would lock us in at $1.99 through the life of our account being open. The sales rep said no matter the rising rate, ours would always remain. He ran our credit, qualified us & we signed the contract. A year later we noticed a huge rise in our bill. I called to inquire & was told the promotion was only good for a year. I would never have thought we would be running our credit for a 1 yr promo, that's ridiculous. We know what we heard the sales rep say. There's no way to mistake '1 yr' for 'as long as we have our account.' The customer service is horrible. The girls are rude & unprofessional and seem bothered when asked questions. I spoke to 3 different girls about the locked in rate & they each told a slightly different story. Not once did any of them apologize instead they said 'you guys must have misunderstood him.'
