This company is the worst. I have had terrible experience with residential as well as business. all contact info goes to India and today it was Kenya. There are no local numbers to resolve any issues. I had 2 phnes going the first one had me on hold for 41 minutes and the secondon I was on the phone for 28 mintues. absolutely had it with Amerigas. I rent a tank but I have to pay for maintenance of it so what is my rental fee used for? Their rental fee is over twice that of other companies. You can rarely get anyone on the phone and when you do you have no idea if they are speaking to you from this country or another. They NEVER answer emails. AmeriGas is ok with letting you run out of gas in sub degree temperatures. Then they charge you 440.00 fir running out. I've never had a utility tell me I have to pay up front. All support is over seas and feels like they are simply reading off a list of replies. I have recieved conflicting information. At move in.., Told I had to fill the whole tank. I was at 30% at move in. I rationed gas by staying in a bed room with space heaters. Once I was at 7% I called and told them I only had 500.00. They agreed to fill up that much but tried to charge me 300 to expedite delivery. It's unacceptable. I have never dealt with customer service this awful my entire life. I spoke to a "resolution specialist " yesterday. Her name was Haley. Rules are rules is what she told me. Another supervisor said she was going to get yo the bottom of what's going on with my billing and call me right back. She ghosted me. I don't have good or bad credit. I have no credit and they will not put me on billing. That way they can charge me extra fees as I have to fill up small amount more often. I've paid them 1500 since move in and they won't allow me to pay a deposit or offer a solution so I don't run out. I looked it up. This company was sued by the state of Michigan for deceptive practices. I look forward to them getting sued again. Worst company I e ever dealt with. I would reconsider moving to this property to avoid giving this company another penny of my money. read more

Just thankful for Avery gas. We had leaks in 3 different spots and Avery found them when we switched from amerigas. We had just gotten a leak test from amerigas a couple of weeks ago and they said it was ok. They are very money hungry and will try anything to soak it up. We had auto fill through them and they would come every week to try to fill just to give us the service fees. Who the hell would go through 500gallons in a week!! read more

We are now on Day 4 of waiting in FRIGID TEMPS in the 20's-30's for them to bring gas to our home tank. They told us it would be 4 more days, too. It is the 50's in the house, maybe 60's closer to the many dangerous space heaters we had to set up 24/7. This is uncalled for, inhumane, unhealthy and deserves LEGAL ATTENTION. The rate is double last years because of their predatory, opportunistic "business" tactics. Because of the pandemic, reataurants are using more propane to heat those still-unsafe outdoor dining igloos and obviously it is more important to run around servicing them and not real household customers. read more

We use this company because the previous owners had went with them. We got into a three year contract. There was always new fees either for tank rental, lock in rates, they come fill up at will or you call them. The price of propane was always going up as well. Finally after our three-year contract ended I found a local company that didn't carry along all these additional fees as well as was about a dollar cheaper per gallon. When I called to have my tank removed I was told initially that there would be no fee if it was under 5% left in the tank, it took us a few months to get it to 5% and when I called back to inform them, they said that there was now a fee no matter what percent you had in your tank of $150. Shop around and your best bet would be used local! read more

This has got to be THE MOST DECEITFUL BUSINESS I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Management at this branch showed me a complete lack of integrity by going against their word and not honoring a quote they gave me over the phone on several occasions. I just moved into a rental home in Ann Arbor. On 11/18/2013, I received an email from my landlord saying he called a few propane companies and Amerigas has an introductory rate of $1.49/gallon. Later that month and based on that price, I decided to call and set up an account with them. On the phone, Amerigas also confirmed that price with me. 12/5/2013, they came out to do a safety inspection and just noted my tank level at 50%. 12/10/2013, I called and asked some questions along with the rate again to fill my first tank. (This rate was also used by me to reimburse the previous tenant for propane left over in the tank.) Again, they told me the intro rate of $1.49/gallon. I know this for a fact because I have an email that day to the previous tenants stating the price Amerigas gave me over the phone. 1/30/2014, I called Amerigas to let them know my tank had dropped below 15% and needed to be filled. I double checked my first fill up rate and the lady I talked to confirmed it at $1.49 yet again. Within an hour though, I get a call back from her. She left a voicemail and made an excuse that my quote had expired and they're going to charge me market rate of $3.69/gallon! At no time though did anyone mention an expiration date to me. I called back and told them that $1.49 quote was given on several occasions not that long ago. The man I talked to even said he remembered giving that $1.49 rate. He then told me they were gonna review the phone records and find out what was said. Later, they called me back with one of the most asinine excuses I've ever heard in my life. It was from the guy I talked to who originally gave me the quote. He claimed that quote was for me to reimburse the previous tenant only. WHAT?!? I had to stay cool though. My tank was dangerously low and I still needed it filled up. They knew I was at their mercy. I also got the impression the manager at that branch was forcing the man on the phone to go against his word so they could weasel out of that price. 2/4/2014, I finally got them to fill my tank. Now, it's time for me to get a job as a part-time lumberjack so I can heat my home with my wood-burner the rest of this winter. In the Spring, I plan on looking into other energy options. read more

We use propane to heat our swimming pool. Amerigas requires us to purchase over 200 gal of propane per year or they charge us $133 lease fee on the tank that has been on our property for 30 years. (amerigas bought out our previous provider). We have decided to switch to one of the many providers who do not charge a lease fee. Amerigas is now charging us $69 to pick up the tank and will charge us another fee to pump out any gas that remains in the tank. The final insult is that they will not tell us if they will charge us that late fee if they fail to pick up the tank after Aug 31. I have found two other providers who do not have these charges. read more

Worst Propane Company around, they bought my propane supplier Schultz and are charging a 135.68 tank fee and have still not came to pick up their equipment that was requested on 10/2/15 and are trying to charge a late fee on top of that. Their prices are higher than competitors so try Garst propane or Corrigan and avoid the headaches. read more

Never had a problem with them in the 2 years we have been using them to fill our propane tank. We were new to the area and used them because the previous owner used them. They honored their quotes and were clear about the billing rates. Also, we have never waited more than 36 hours for them to come out and fill our tank. I will continue to use them and would recommend them to a family member or friends. read more

Amerigas has been sued in Michigan for price gouging. They charged us a $129 a year fee to "lock in" our price. We've been paying $2.69 per gallon - turns out my neighbors have been "locked in", but at lower rates! When I switched to another company - they charged me a $69 fee for tank removal. Turns out, this was NOT disclosed in the Terms of Agreement when we signed up, but as "current customers" the ToA was automatically changed on us a couple of years ago. Here is the absolute topper: after paying $2.69 per gallon for the past three years, my new company is charging us .99 cents per gallon and NO yearly fees! Steer clear of Amerigas at all costs! read more

Please read the contract carefully before signing. Many hidden fees that will not be explained upon signing. We acquired a tank due to purchase of our new home. When asked if they would come get the tank they ask us to sign a contract for inspection- basically we signed a contract for them to charge us for the pick up of their tank. Mind you, we had our house running off our own propane tank with propane that was bought from another more upfront propane supplier. I would say they are dishonest and sneaky- no plans on ever doing any business with them. read more

I requested to be a new customer and purchase LP for my home. Amerigas came to my home and refused all business with me for the reason of no tank ID badge was shown. My credit card was charged anyway at excessive rates per gallon and after several discussions with them they refused refund of credit. My credit card company settled the matter to my benefit. We live about SEVEN miles from their business you would think it wouldn't take that long to come and get their equipment. They say customer satisfaction is their priority which is a big lie. AmeriGas installed a tank at our rental home without our permission for our renter. When they were evicted for nonpayment, we had only that tank and we were moving back into that house. After much comparison we chose to keep the tank at least for that winter season instead of trying to get someone out in the winter. However when we did decide to change to a local propane carrier who was much less expensive even though we tried to negotiate with AmeriGas for a better price, we asked that they remove their tank. Almost 8 months later after multiple calls for the removal, they finally removed it. Luckily our new propane carrier was kind enough to move the darn thing to the front of our lot where it sat all that time. We then received a bill for $59.99 for the pick-up cost. Checking the initial contract which stated $39.99 for the pick-up - I called. They informed me that they had changed the cost - funny thing - during the month that we asked to be dropped from their services. And I told them it's just another reason we left them - the fact that a signed contract doesn't mean squat to them. Beware and check all other prices before going with them read more

I started my service with them during my new build completion in January 2017. i was told i could renew a 1 year contract each year at the discounted rate...wouldn't you know....1st renewal comes around and they don't currently have that promotion anymore and a fill up costs goes from high $200 to $700 without notice...switching to NG after that. On top of that, they charge a 59.99 to pick up the tank (ok, understandable)....BUT if over 5% they charge you a $149.99 pump fee AND keep your gas with zero credit....keep in mind, most people don't use much gas until the middle of the winter....this means in a 3 day window (we used about 1.5% of our gas a day in the winter) i need to have a plumber come out to convert all my appliances and have the gas turned on to heat my house. Very convenient for your typical family (sarcasm). Very disappointed that they expect me to let them charge me $210 in fees and keep $500 of unused gas to avoid the inconvenience. My understanding is this is on a PER location bases so it may not be this way at a different Amerigas location per the corporate #. I will update this if the owner is more reasonable. read more
