What a charming little place. There's a lot of interesting items for sale! I just couldn't bring myself to spend as much as they wanted to charge however. For instance, $4 for 1 tiny succulent, $6 for a small plant container, and $115 for a crock. I ended up needing to leave as I was overwhelmed with all the stuff everywhere! There's A LOT to look at for sure, and even some mini horses and goats for sale out back. If you're someone who likes to be frugal like me this place may not be for you. If you don't mind spending money and don't mind the amount of stuff then by all means check it out! read more

Good luck finding the entrance. Trust me, it's there in the midst of all the chaos. The search is well worth it. This shop is the very definition of a local business that deserves support. It's a greenhouse. It's a florist. It's an antique shop. All in one. It's so wonderfully bizarre. I couldn't stop taking photos to post on yelp. My visit focused on browsing through the antiques and collectibles while my companion focused on plants and pots. We both loved our visit. Pricing is sometimes high, sometimes low, depending on the item. Chances are you'll be dealing with one of the owners, a husband and wife team, so I suspect there might be some pricing flexibility to be had if you're buying in volume. Regarding the antiques. Some "smalls" are well organized, but there are actual piles (not an exaggeration) of some other items that take some serious effort to look through. I live I Hawai'i and have one of those friends who is always giving to others and who now lives in Ames. This was a big birthday for her so I wanted to surprise her with flowers since I couldn't be there to celebrate. Ames Greenhouse had the artsy, special bouquets I was looking for so I put my order in. A glitch happened though and I got a message from my friend saying thanks for the flowers, a week before her birthday. I was bummed because I wanted to make her birthday special. Then, on her birthday, the flower shop sent her another bouquet to make up for the mistake. She was feeling the love! Thanks Ames Greenhouse! I just ordered flowers for my friend in Iowa today. Living thousands of miles and several times zones away, I wanted to order from a place with same day delivery. Less than 3 hours after I placed my order, my friend texted me a picture of the beautiful arrangement that was delivered to her. I have been here several times and always love looking at such an eclectic and interesting collection of antiques. However, the highlight for me is the greenhouse area. The plants are so reasonably priced and there is an amazing selection. Being relatively new to gardening, I had a lot of questions about care and planting, and they were all patiently and knowledgeably answered. Truly a great local business! My favorite place to go when my soul needs restoration. It's whimsical and magical and usually smells like the earth after a rain. I've bought succulents and trees and flowers here. The range of succulents is astounding and the prices are very affordable! The place is huge. They have a whole wall piled with hundreds of old, unique flower pots. I've found heart shaped pots, sunset colored pots, beautiful embossed pots, neutral pots... there are so many possibilities for creating your own pot of succulents. They also sell potting soil for cheap and will measure out how much you need for the plants you're buying. I haven't looked much in the antiques section because the plants are just so wonderful, but there are SO many beautiful antiques if you're into that! The owners are absolutely lovely people.
