Apparently Sundays are premier pricing so it cost $12 for 2 shoe rentals, $32 for 2 people to bowl two games and $10 for 2 Dr Pepper's. Big mexican dude with glasses at the front desk was giving us a hard time ever since we've arrived, the lane he assigned us to had malfunctioned and he aggressively approached us and thought we did something wrong, I asked for a lane switch and he was giving me attitude. 30mins before closing I simply changed my bowling shoes into my regular shoes, didn't think it was a big deal but he shut our game in the middle of playing and told us we had to leave because of my shoes. very upset we paid $100 for unlimited bowling customers service was not there at all. will definitely come back and make a complain. read more

Every single bowling alley I've been to besides this place provides free water. There isn't even a drinking fountain here. They're strict about shoving 6 people to 1 lane until 9:00 PM, so if you have a big party and want a decent amount of lanes just go elsewhere. Lanes are well oiled, floor is slippery and the accommodations are poor. They clearly care about making money more than the value of making customers return. read more

Okay. This is a gonna be a long review because I feel like I've been "scammed" out of the chips I had on 2 game cards. About two and a half months ago, I discovered a deal to AMF lanes for their arcade via Groupon, and it was actually a REALLY good deal and better than most arcades I frequent. So I go there after purchasing and I get two arcade cards, and all is well! I'm enjoying some of the games. Sure there isn't a wide variety, but then again, it is a bowling alley; so arcade variety isn't a big priority. I get that. I go back after a couple of months, and I try swiping my cards, and it says, "there are no funds on cards". Which is strange because I know there were plenty of chips (over $100 worth) when I left. I check the reload machine and it show no history of what I played or how much was left. I go to the front desk, and the person who comes to help me I'm assuming is the manager. I explain to him the situation, and he asks me if I had place my cards near a magnet. My cards were in my jacket pocket the whole time; so I am doubtful they were near a magnetic source. In short he says, "There is nothing we can do". I find this to be B.S. as any arcade with similar technology had SOME way of finding the history of what was on the card. They fact that they don't have a way to retrieve the history of the card and the lack of interest in wanting to help me tells me they don't value me as a customer and I'm sure this is also true for anyone who's gone through what I had dealt with. This is an extremely poor example of customer service. Sure, I may not have spent money going bowling, or on food. But the fact that they didn't wanna at least try or even if they genuinely don't have the ability to look up the history of the cards when most arcades today have that ability says they have no moral compass on helping even cheap sour pusses like myself. HELL! You have to PAY to get water. Every bar I've gone to gives water! So in summery, I would strongly NOT recommend this place. I will never come back until they either Fix the technology to look up history's to every customers respective cards, management changes that actually gives a [crap] about customers, or until the building burns to the grounds. read more

My group (12+ bowlers) and I are competitive bowlers and been using Saxon Lanes as a practice/hangout place for the past 4 months and have spent thousands of dollars on games/arcade/food/drinks/tips. I have to say, what I experienced today from the Manager "Nick" was rude and unacceptable. We were a loyal group and had always been nice and respectful to all the staff. I went in tonight to bowl with my group again, the lane they were already on had the 5 of them bowling on it. One lane was open next to them and I wanted to bowl the lane next to them because i had about 5 or 6 guys still coming. We were regulars and the staff knows that we usually have a bunch of people bowling. I asked Nick for the lane next to my friends (different ball return machines), but he said he can't give it to me because they were my "friends" and I need at least 6 people per lane. I told Nick my other guys were on their way and we'll fill it up quick. He still denied my request. This is when he got loud and disrespectful. I told him what if I'm not trying to join them? So he said I can be on a different lane away from my friends, because "HE WAS TRYING TO MAKE MONEY." The next statement Nick told me was the one that did it. He told me that I can either bowl away from my group or I DON'T HAVE TO BOWL. From a loyal customer that comes in bowl THREE to FOUR times a week and give him business, he has the audacity to tell me that. I wasn't asking for any favors, just that the lane was open and I had the usual guys coming. I should've walked out of there. Of course he gave me a lane farthest from my group and the driest lane ever! That night we had a party of 12 and we were bowling on 3 separate lanes away from each other. Who goes bowling and don't want to be bowling with their friends? Was he really trying to make money for the business or just being a total "DICK". I have to say, Nick and Saxon has loss a group of loyal bowlers and our business. We will be looking elsewhere for our evening hangouts and take our business where they appreciate us. PS. Dont go here if you dont want your personal bowling balls damaged by their ball return. We have had countless balls damaged and the repairs were horrendous. Bowlero should really look into Nick because he has had countless issues with customers and being extremely rude. read more

I'd give them zero stars if I could. At the beginning of the night they told us they needed a card to keep on file but at the end we could split the charge evenly (it was 4 of us, shoe rentals, and 2 rounds of bowling). The cashier ended up charging us $100 and the other couple $30. Then the next day we got another $91 charge out of nowhere from AMF. We called and they said there was nothing they could do about reversing the extra charge that should've never hit our card in the first place. So for the four of us to bowl for maybe 2 hours it cost over $200. The bartender was an absolute mess. Couldn't make a vodka soda, had a line of maybe 7-10 people waiting for drinks, was super unprofessional. The overall experience was just awful and such a rip-off. Unfortunately, there's nothing positive I can say about this place. I'd suggest finding any other bowling alley in the area. read more

Unlimited Bowling $16 per person starting at 8pm on Fridays. After the evening took a turn and some plans fell through, TT JT, and I decided to go bowling. We ordered the appetizer sampler and a few beverages to start us off. The Appetizer Sampler was huge, it was pretty yummy too. Included was Nachos, Wings, Mozzarella Sticks, Cheese Bread, and Chicken Tenders. I might be missing something, but it was a lot, and I can't remember it all. The sides were Honest Mustard, Salads, and two things of Marinara Sauce, a ranch would have been nice, but I didn't care of enough to ask for one. It's okay. My issue, not theirs. We played 3 games. It was a lot of fun! They have couches now instead of the swinging and swaying chairs. So that was cool, a little more adult-ish and grown up type thing. Which make the bowling even better. Of course we picked raunchy names or partly, so that was fun. This think that was not as up-to-date as other bowling alleys was that, it automatically thinks everyone is right handed. So even though it does give you advice on where to position the ball on the next roll it is all from a right handed view. The other thing was, once you picked a theme, that was the theme for the whole evening, we had to go to the FD station to ask if our theme could be switched. Again, they aren't big is issues, just things I noticed. There looked like there was a cool arcade section, I did see air hockey. I love Air hockey, I know TT and I will definitely be playing a game or two of that the next time we come back to bowl. Overall, this was a great evening, filled with friends, food, and beverages. We all had a wonderful evening. I know we are going to come back, and when we do, maybe I can redeem myself and win more then 1/3 games. read more

The Saturday Bartender Cared More About Hanging Out With Her Friend Instead of Paying Customer We visited Saxons Lanes on Saturday, Feb 29 (Leap Year). We were there for the bowling, but of course visited the bar for drinks. The ONLY bartender scheduled that night was HORRIBLE. She was rude, slow, no sense of urgency considering she was the only staff present with a bar filled with 40+ and bowling alley filled with 50+; and on top of that, her friend was sitting at the bar all night and the bartender spent the time chatting with her friend while semi-slowly attending to customers. Every single time we went to the bar for drinks we waited at least 10 minutes to get service another 10 minutes to fulfill our drink order. You can clearly see that every customer at the bar was unsatisfied with the bartender. The employees attending the service counter for bowling were decent though. As busy as the bowling alley was at 9:30PM (right after league), the employees got us checked in right away; no major complaints there. However, the fact that they only had 1 bartender on staff and 0-1 waitress attending the lanes on a Saturday night where their "deal" was "All You Can Bowl," shows the business' lack of judgement in staffing their bowling alley on what I would assume a peak night. I am not even kidding- the "waitress" for the lanes NEVER made it to our side of the bowling alley. Which explains why we kept going to the bar ourselves. Back to the rude female bartender. Again, she was the only one on staff. Every time we went to the bar (take note, we went at least 4-5 times that night); there was at least 5-6 other customers waiting at the bar for this bartender. The bartender took her sweet time to make drinks; ALL WHILE STOPPING BETWEEN EACH CUSTOMER TO TALK TO HER FRIEND. (See image below). Never once did the bartender stop to tell her customers "I'll be right with you." She had no sense of urgency OR customer service. Taking her time, frowning the entire time she was serving her customers. I don't understand how Saxons would allow someone with this kind of poor attitude be the server on Saturday night. (I must also note, after speaking to the bar's manager about the way his employee treated us- as well as pointing out the fact that she is clearly just sitting there talking to her friend; the manager sees it and instead of asking her to help with the order- he allows her to just sit there and chit chat as if there weren't paying customers waiting.) I am truly disappointed in this bowling alley- especially since this bowling alley is an older facility in the area/Twin Cities that is still in business. It's a shame that management does not do a better job of keeping their paying customers around. We used to visit this bowling alley a lot 5+ years ago- never once had an issue with the service, bartender, etc... Its sad that when we chose to visit AMF Saxons Lanes for our Saturday night bowling- their service just turned us away- and ONE WORKER did it for us. We will not be returning and will advise others to avoid this bowling alley as well. Please learn to hire the right employees to serve your paying customers. One horrible rude employee can ruin it for everyone. read more

Are we in a clown car? I would never bowl here again. I pulled in the very large parking lot and walked in. The place is cramped! *The tables up top and way too close together and there isn't enough room between the table and the walk way. *The desk is gigantic and in a weird place. *There are not enough chairs for more than 5 people to sit while bowling. *The completely unnecessary chair in front of the scoring machine was similar to chairs in an elementary school. *The lanes felt like we were bowling on plywood. *The restrooms were G-R-O-S-S! They smelled icky and didn't have enough stalls. *They served one of the people in our group a pop without a top which is a recipe for disaster - it was easily spilled and got all over our bowling shoes. If they want to attract more bowlers and have tournaments, they should really do a remodel. read more

Meh, it's your typical bowling alley but I guess it works. We had a company event here and they got a buffet spread for us. It was a few types of pizza which were edible but not worth blowing my diet for...sorry I'm a bit of a pizza snob. They also had some chicken wings and something else fried I don't remember. The big draw was the fried pickles which I guess is a MN thing but it was my first time, they were good but more a novelty item than anything I'd make a full meal of. The lanes seemed okay but I rarely bowl. One person did cut their finger inside a rough ball and was bleeding all night. I broke a nail but that's not AMF's fault. They also had these guiding ramps you could use if your a kid or really bad a bowling that I've never seen before. They made for some fun photo opportunities :) It was clean and the service was fine. The boards seemed to work but check the ball beforehand and make sure the grooves are smooth. For a local spot I think it's fine and gets the job done! read more

While the bowling alley itself was great, very clean with friendly service, it was really disappointing that the reservation we made for a lane was about $30 more than if we had simply walked up and requested a lane. What should have been a $60 evening for our family of 5 ended up costing closer to $100 after fees and taxes. When I contacted the reservation agent she was very gracious in explaining things to me however the only difference she could offer between the 2 options was simply that we had the lane guaranteed and ready for us versus possibly having to wait for a lane to open up. Again just seems like an incredibly high cost difference and because of it we wouldn't recommend Bowlero to any family or friends, we'll stay with the local non-franchise type bowling alleys. read more

Horrible experience ever. My friends and I were there many time before and that day we went with a free game voucher. There were four of us and we had only one voucher so the help desk guy refused to accept it, said it was valid for one person. We then questioned why since there isn't any mention of that on the voucher, and we politely asked him to consult the manager. At the time, it was not even 9:30pm. Few minutes later he and his manger walked toward us and he told us isn't valid cuz the Extreme Hour was going to begin (the voucher isn't valid for Extreme Hour) and the manager walked passed us and went into the room to turn off the lights to switch from regular bowling hour to Extreme Hour. We then noticed a board on front desk wrote that Extreme Hour starts at 10pm so we asked why, since it wasn't even 9:30pm. The manager came and said "we always start Extreme Hour at this hour, we don't follow the corporation hour". The excuse was a total BULLSHIT. Like I said we've been there many times and it wasn't true. We felt that they were just switching the session to not letting us using the voucher. We left with anger and immediate filed a compliant to the corporate. We will never go back to this place EVER!!! read more

Last night I had the worst experience there and will never return. The bartender was absolutely rude and racist. We ordered a pitcher of beer and I had asked for real glasses and she said it was for league use only. So I decided not to tip because she was being a little bitch. It's not necessary to tip if you feel like they don't deserve it and she didn't deserve it because I watched a white couple come get a pitcher and got real glasses and to make it worse when I walked up again to ask for real glasses after the first set of league and guess what? There were still the same old six glasses behind the bar untouched. So I ordered another pitcher and now asked for the third time for real glasses and still same answer as before it's for league only. Like bitch the same glasses are still behind the bar. Well I didn't tip again so this must've pissed her off because two minutes later I ordered a appetizer sampler and it took 30 minutes when the whole 30 minutes I didn't see any food leave the kitchen. Now this was when I was really upset and knew these folks are just racist and pissed off. I'm not obligated to tip so I explained to the bartender I want a refund because I shouldn't have to wait that long knowing there hasn't been any food that has left the kitchen during those 30 minutes. Here's what's interesting as a GM! you would want repeat business but this dude Tyler obviously can't do his job right so he decided that he was gonna favor his bartender and not refund my money and didn't even apologize about how the situation occurred instead he just walked away like a regular worker. AMF Saxon Lanes hosted my son's birthday party. I had been trying to book a birthday party with another local bowling center, but the dates and times were so restrictive, so tried AMF. I was able to get a prime time party, a Friday at 6pm. They had leagues going, I think, but have a lot of lanes and still accommodated us. There were plenty of empty lanes between us and the leagues as they had us down on the end. They even gave us a 3rd lane for free once we arrived because most of the kids didn't want bumpers but a few did, so we had 2 without and 1 lane with bumpers. It seemed really nice and clean in there, like the carpeting was new. Down on the lanes, there were nice couches right behind the lanes, so us adults were able to sit comfortably right down close and watch the kids. They set up food tables and food for us above the lanes and we got to spend all the time we wanted eating and opening presents, before starting the clock on our bowling time. Our package included pizza, and we added a plate of sliders. The sliders were so good!!!! The staff took really great care of us, they took care of everything, it was a nice relaxing party. All the kids had a great time. We saw the bar area on our way out and they even have a dance floor. I know this is an older bowling alley, but it felt really clean and has apparently had updating. They gave us some coupons for free bowling and we definitely want to go back again. I highly recommend them for both birthday parties, eating there (sliders!) and bowling in general. read more
