I come to the Clarence Senior Center five days a week.....and love every minute of it. I've made…read moreso many friends there, and have found so many fun things to do. There aren't words strong enough to express my gratitude and love for this establishment that makes my life so much happier. Marge M.

The senior center's director is an amazing woman who really cares about not just her job, but for those for whom she does this job. And the activities director is also pretty fantastic. She makes sure the seniors have movie nights, exercise classes, relevant guest speakers, and even fun trips. There are a lot of volunteer opportunities at the senior center as well. The building is sometimes used as a shelter during storms, and some of the seniors will volunteer to work during these times. In addition, it's used as a polling place, where many seniors find opportunities to serve their community. My mom also volunteers in the kitchen sometimes helping to prepare meals, at the front desk, and wherever else there's a need. She has delivered meals for Meals on Wheels through a program at the Clarence Senior Center. Every month we get a newsletter in the mail that outlines all the great programs that are available to members. Some things are there every month: weekly Bingo, Pinochle, Wood working, and a few other things. But then sometimes there are local trips, like to the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute and restaurant. They occasionally have mystery tours as well, where the travelers signed up don't know where they are going until they get there. Those are always fun trips (I know because my mom has asked me to join her on a few of them). If you've got a parent or loved one who is looking for somewhere they can go to play cards or Bingo or just to hang out and meet other seniors, this is a safe and welcoming environment. I highly recommend checking it out!

Located in the same area as the Lord of Life Church and Lord of Life Daycare is the Lord of Life…read moreAdult Care Center. Its a daytime only facility for seniors. They have over 60 daily guests, from all parts of the city and suburbs. All are over 65. You can go 5 days a week or 2, 3, 4. Whatever works for the person and the family. If you need pickup, they have buses that do pickups and drop-offs. Pickup between 8-9:30 daily, depends on where you fall into their bus route. Drop-off between 4-5pm. Once there the person gets breakfast if they like, and then various activities throughout the day. If you are Catholic, there is a Rosary each morning. The activities include some physical types, some card games, or just "mens group" etc. There is also a nice pathway on the ground for walking outside on a nice day. There is an outside patio area as well, where many attendees spend lots of time in the nicer weather. Lunch is served, with an afternoon snack as well. They have a nurse onsite and can administer meds as needed. They do get all sorts of medical releases, so they are aware of the health of the attendee. The family is part of this proicess and is expected to engage in it all as well. This seems to be a very nice place. Its clean. The employees are pleasant. They have been doing this for a long time and have the systems working smoothly. Its about $50 a day, with an additional bus cost (depends on how far away you live) if you need pickup and dropoff. 1822
