Where do I start this pretty lady is amazing and the best of the best! My wife has been seeing her for over 6 years. Then we started to see her as a couples therapist. I know weird why would I have not picked someone that doesn't know nothing about my wife and I. Well for me it was better this way. I felt like if something was wrong or wasn't going well in my relationship I can explain it to her and she would understand better because she has already been working with the Wifey. She would have a better understand of what I was talking about. What I love about Mrs. Amie is that even thou she wasn't my therapist to start with she has never pick sides or favor one more then the other. About 1 year ago my boo and I had to relocate to the Bay Area and this had been super hard for both of us but more I feel for me since I had to give up everything that took me years to build. That being said I was getting really really depress but being about to still have Amie as my therapist and couple therapist. I truly feel like she has saved my life. We all have problems. I think that it's very silly to hear so many people (some of my friends, included) frowning upon therapy or believing that it's a last resort. Therapy can be very beneficial to anyone because it helps us all put things into perspective and grow. Well, if you find the right therapist anyway! I'd never been to any kind of therapy before. I was having issues in my relationship that began to feel very problematic, going in a repetitive cycle over time. First, I wanted to find someone who I felt comfortable with (as anyone else would)! Looking around online, I browsed through quite a few options. I finally saw Amie and her reviews on Yelp as well as other websites. Seriously. Just google her and you'll find someone raving about how great she is. One thing that I was trying to specifically find was a gay friendly therapist or rather, just someone who valued everyone equally and was not discriminatory towards any minority group. From there, I looked on her actual website for Long Beach therapy and she had a video introducing herself. She even offers things like in home therapy sessions and Skype sessions. I just felt like she genuinely cares about her clients, from all the things she had written and said on her site. I emailed her, she promptly emailed me back and we were able to schedule some sessions together very quickly. I had to reschedule my first one, and she was super understanding about it. Overall, she's very easy to contact. There's also some new patient forms located on her website, but she also emails them to you before your appointment. If you don't sign them before you come in, she has them in the lobby of her building as well. Basically... she goes the extra mile to make sure it's convenient and easy for clients. I signed mine beforehand and just brought them in with me! Her building is located on Ocean and Atlantic. She'll email you the code to enter as well as directions and also a YouTube video in case the written directions aren't enough. For parking, we used meter parking on Ocean (right by her office) and would usually pay like $1.50-$2 at most. You go up to the building, enter the code, go wait in the lobby, and then Amie comes out to grab you for your appointment at the specified time. The little waiting area is super clean and cute with snacks and some refreshments. There's also a sign that says it's a meat free zone! The actual sessions were so helpful and have made such a positive impact in my life. Amie offers a fresh perspective and clearly wants to help her clients as much as she can. The problems that I was having seemed to be so long drawn that I wasn't sure my spouse and I could fix it at some points. Now? We're totally fine and working on the things we talked about with Amie, as well as using the techniques and advice she has given us. I think it's really wonderful that Amie offers so much on her website for her clients and tries to make them feel comfortable before she even meets them. I remember watching her intro video and hearing her talk about her mentality that everyone is trying their best. I'd recommend her to anybody and everybody! read more

I have worked with Amie through my training to become a therapist and I have nothing but good things to say about my experience there. It was a not only a great environment for me to continue developing as a therapist but also a very supportive environment. I felt supported and cared for not just as an employee but also as an individual. Amie has went above and beyond her role as a supervisor to someone who was really there for me when I was going through tough times. I think she is one of the prime example of what a private/group practice supervisor should be and I can only hope to live up to her example if I ever become a supervising clinician. When my time came to leave my job with Amie to start my own practice, it was a sad moment for me. While I miss the consistent supervision and support, the gifts of knowledge she has shared with me are something I carry into my practice everyday. I've been seeing Amie for a number of years, and she's helped me overcome much of my daily anxiety. I used to take medication for my anxiety, but she helped me develop strategies to deal with panic attacks when they arose. My partner and I visited Amie for couples therapy for about six months and she was incredibly helpful in working with the two of us to overcome our obstacles. Couples therapy is extremely challenging as you not only have one client, but actually three: the two individuals and the relationship itself. Amie is incredibly skilled and never made either of us feel as though she was taking sides with or favoring one person over the other.
