From the very beginning, the entire staff took the time to get to know our family personally. Over time, meaningful friendships were formed, and we always felt genuinely supported as they helped guide us through such a difficult chapter in our lives. A family member came here for rehab in about 2012. Service was good, and therapy and nursing staff…read morewere competent and conscientious. I would have given it 4-5 stars at that time. Based on that stay, when someone in the family needed transitional care in 2016 we again chose The Gables. The place now appears to be understaffed. My family member (let's call this person "X") is at risk of falling so must be helped with every transfer from bed to chair, etc. It is often 10-20 minutes before help arrives. Early in X's stay, X rang for help getting to the bathroom during the night. After quite some time an aide came and, instead of taking X to the toilet, put an adult diaper on X (despite X's protest that they did not need or want one) and left. The next morning we had a conference with X's nurse about the incident. We made it clear that X is continent and lucid and is not to be left in bed with a diaper. Well, again last night as X was preparing for bed, an aide insisted on putting a diaper on X. X, being older and frail, capitulated to the young, strong aide, but was upset. A friend of mine who is a nurse elsewhere said this was likely done because the place is understaffed and they worry that a patient who has to wait too long will get up on their own and risk falling. My friend explained that the facility is willing to sacrifice the patient's dignity to lower the risk of having a fall on their watch. I spoke with X's nurse and the facility's nursing director this morning. They said they have zero tolerance for this kind of behavior and this afternoon they put the aide in question on administrative leave. If and when the aide returns, they will not be assigned to care for X. This should not have happened at all but because of Boutwell's timely and appropriate response to the problem, I've upgraded my review from two stars to three.

My mother was a resident at "The Lakes" for over five years. She lived independently for the first…read moreseveral years, then transitioned to assisted living and eventually, memory care. Throughout her residency the Lake's staff treated my mother with the utmost respect and kindness. As she became more dependent on others to assist her with her daily activities the quality of care she received remained excellent. My mother's dignity was never compromised, and even though her declining cognitive ability frustrated her, the aides and the nursing staff patiently and diligently attended to her most basic needs. We miss our mother, but we take comfort in knowing that she received the best possible care when she needed it the most. On behalf of my entire family, thank you.

Every week there is a musical program in early afternoon for entertainment and every Friday afternoon includes additional a program that including soft drinks, beer or wine and snacks. There is a small movie theater in building and workout room and craft room all located in that area. We have two parking places in the heated parking in the basement and there is a car washing space available it you want to wash your own car. It sure is nice to not have to clean snow off the cars when heading out of the building in snowy weather. They recently opened the woodworking shop for those desiring some small wood building projects. Just about any hand or power tools needed is in that shop. They recently have added several new staff members for many of the management jobs and we like what the staff members are doing for the residents for their comfortable living conditions. Some problems with the boilers in the basement which cause cool units because They are heated with heated floors but the new maintenance Department has gotten that problem solved.

The main reason for two stars is connected to the services. We move my in-laws in to assisted living. They needed daily assistance but unfortunately staff just didn't show when they were supposed to and it was a challenge working through the billing. Calls go unanswered. Both my daughter and I needed to get EMGs at the Kinisi Institute for different parts of our bodies…read more- mine for my neck and hands; and my daughter for her feet. We both received compassionate, professional care from Melissa and Dr. Bedi. They explained what the process was, what they were going to do, and what the results indicated. We both would highly recommend getting an EMG at the Kinisi Institute if the need arises. If we needed to go back for one, I wouldn't hesitate for a minute to return to see Melissa and Dr. Bedi.

DO NOT GO HERE. I…read moreoriginally scheduled an appointment online to see the heartbeat. With the addition of some worrisome test results, my midwife called and personally talked to her about changing my appointment to an internal diagnostic to check on the health of the baby. I get there and it was a tech that had only worked there for three days. When I asked about doing the internal she looked at me panicked, and said they didn't do those there. She did a quick abdominal but it wasn't what I needed. I still paid for the appointment. My midwives called her again and we rescheduled for another internal ultrasound on Monday morning. I had to wait another two days to get results I was already very anxious for. My midwives said I wouldn't be charged since there was such a misunderstanding on Saturday. When I get there she's nice enough. Her machine is old and she has the wand sitting inside me for over a minute before it even turns on. She does the exam, and then comes back in and asked for $100 more. When I told her I thought I didn't have to pay she was rude, said she can't do her work for free, and gave a lame excuse about why my appointment got messed up last time. I'm not angry at her because she gave me bad news. I was expecting it. Its the way she handled my scheduling mistake, still charged me for two ultrasounds even though I only ordered one, and was extremely rude to someone in shock and grief. Don't go here if you need answers fast, want customer service, need anything diagnostic or actually want answers about your baby. I guess it might be good if all you wanted was to see cute pictures but otherwise I will never be back here again.

I absolutely love working here , in all my years of experience, I never worked somewhere, that has a nicer group of employees, , I've not met one person here from house keeping to maintenance, dietary, nursing and administrative, that have not been super nice and kind.
