When I was looking for a dog-friendly wool area rug for my NYC apartment, I first tried Bloomies and a few upscale small stores in my area. However, salespeople didn't have the time or patience to find something that really met my needs - instead they kept suggesting rugs with silk or rayon which stain easily. So I did an online search and found Amira Rug Gallery. Lea was extremely helpful and patient and suggested several appropriate options. She even sent me a few sample size loaner rugs for free to see if they'd go in my apartment since it's hard to see colors from a computer. Prices are very competitive plus you get friendly knowledgeable service. Amazingly this NYC girl found her rug store match in Montana. read more

I recently had an upsetting experience here in which the owner, Lea, told me I "should not come back" to her store, because I'd had the gall (?) to ask if she does price-matching with a competitor's website (note: Amira's own website says they are "glad to" consider price-matching).She seemed not to believe me when I said I'd found a lower sale price (for the record, I found it on RugStudio.com), then said such low prices are not legal and often are offered by "places in India" or something (RugStudio.com is in Texas). This was my first time being asked not to come back to any business, and something about this genuinely bothers me, besides my usual dislike of conflict--I have a feeling she wouldn't have talked to me this way if I had been a man, or if I looked wealthy, or if I weren't Asian? There was definitely something going on here on a deeper level that I found very disturbing, and I recommend going to any other rug store in town if you want to shop locally. We ended up going to Abbey Carpet of Missoula, where they were very pleasant and respectful, treating us like, you know, human beings. read more

Our "On the Road ". Version of Jack Kerouac may not find us usually in the hippiest of places, but we have found some very interesting shops. Amira Rug was so much fun , wonderful selection of rugs, eExtremely knowledgeable , beautiful colorations If you need a certain look this is place to visit! read more
