Making him our family doc was the best decision we ever made. He is INCREDIBLY approachable; you never feel rushed, he takes the time to answer all questions big and small -- and over all just seems to go the extra mile, and REALLY & TRULY CARE about his patients. PCPs/General practitioner family docs are a dying breed. To find a PCP that is a sole practitioner, not in a large medical group is EXTREMELY rare, if not basically extinct these days. It makes SUCH a HUGE difference to have a doc, where you are HIS patient rather than just another number to a random group practice. The gold ol' days of medicine are almost gone and it is just so amazing that Dr. Maslen is still there. All the pressures in medicine today push, if not force docs to sell their practices and join these large medical groups-- costs, insurance, etc are the culprit here. We are just so thankful to have a doctor that loves what he does and endures the incredible pressures to retain his independent sole practice. Idk.. I could keep rambling... but there are not enough words to convey how grateful my wife and I are for Dr. Maslen.

He sent in an office staff who couldn't answer questions about frequency, when to end the medication, how it might negatively interact with the multiple medications just to name a few. I kept asking the medical assistant to speak with the doctor and he kept saying no and giving a ton of excuses on why not. Instead he insisted on trying to answer medical questions, many of which didn't make much sense. Pretty sure it's ILLEGAL for anyone outside of the doctor to give medical advice. I called the office 3x and left messages for Dr. Williams to call me back since he couldn't spare time to answer my questions...he never called back. I had a really bad allergic reaction and didn't even get a call back when my message informed him. I don't care how great the staff is, if the doctor won't answer my questions and give me the care I need, I will not be going back and recommend you go elsewhere.

December 2025: I had a very negative experience with the Neurology Center. They care more about…read moreprofits than patients. I will never go back there again. My story starts with an appointment with Dr Pamela Howard. First it takes months to get an appointment to see her. I saw her in July. She recommended a home sleep study. It takes months to get an appointment for a home sleep study. When the date came (in December), I did my home sleep study and returned the equipment to the Neurology Center. I was told that the results will be posted on the patient portal about a week after the study. About 10 days after the study, I received a bill. But I did not see any report, nothing summarizing the result of the sleep study. I waited a few days, until 2 weeks after the study, and I still saw nothing on my patient portal. I called to inquire. This is when my negative experience started. I was told I need to see someone before they will release the results. NO one told me this before. And Dr Howard's first available appointment is in March. I said this is unacceptable. I refuse to pay the bill until I receive a report summarizing the results. Then I was reminded - when I arrived at the office, they required me to give a credit card they kept on file. So the Neurology Center will bill my credit card whether I liked it or not. I did not have the option of not paying. This made me quite angry. How can they bill me when I have not yet received the result of the study! The person I spoke with said there is a physician's assistant who has a spot tomorrow and I could speak with her via telehealth. I said fine. Next day morning, I looked at the email from the Neurology Center. There was a link to a website with paperwork I had to fill out before my telehealth session. There were maybe 10 screens of info to fill out. On the very LAST screen it said I had to be physically located in DC or Maryland in order to do telehealth with this person. No one warned me about this. I live in Virginia. The person who suggested the appointment should have warned me. She should have noticed that my address is in Virginia. I called to double check - is this information correct. Do I have to be in DC or Maryland? I was put on hold for 15 minutes. So I hung up and called again. And I was told, "Yes you have to be in DC or Maryland." Fortunately I live close enough to DC and I found this out early enough I could actually go into the office. But this only added to my negative patient experience. When I saw the physician's assistant, Annise Claude, she told me the result of my sleep study is, there is nothing bad enough to warrant a CPAP machine. Now why couldn't they tell me that via a simple email or report via the patient portal. I had to go into the office, spend 3 hours of my time to go there and come back, to hear the news they could not really find anything bad. And of course this gives the Neurology Center another chance to bill because this visit is not included in the fee for the home sleep study. In summary, I believe this office is more focused on profits than patients. This is not a good place for patients.

This business takes months to see you and book appointments, then they misinform you about the costs and do as little as possible during the appointments so they can get you in again and charge you. The business model is extremely predatory. Here's one example: I had a follow up appointment for a sleep study, video call... physician was over 15 minutes late after they cancelled the appointment and pushed it back another month. They told me nothing I couldn't already read on a print out from the study and then boom surprise charge for over 150$ for a 10 minute call, with an ask for follow up appointments in the future. Management was useless when trying to negotiate this, which wasn't the first case of surprise expenses from this business. Stay away, if you know what's good for you.

On 6/7/19 I paid $185.00 for an office visit because, although Dr. Musher is a network provider with United Healthcare, he wanted to take enough payment in case I had not met my deductible. On 8/17/19 my wife (under whose name his office staff had mistakenly filed the insurance claim) called and spoke with the office staff about an EOB showing that I was responsible for only $51.23 and that Dr. Musher owed me a refund of $133.77. UnitedHealthcare had informed me that Dr. Musher was paid electronically on 6/26/19 and was in breach of his network-provider contract by failing to refund me within 30 days. The office staff promised a refund within the week. When a refund that did not arrive as promised, my wife called on 9/5/19 and spoke to Dr. Musher himself. Dr. Musher solicited my wife's agreement that I subscribe to his concierge service. Pressuring her, he told her I had health issues for which he had advised follow-up care. His disclosing my private medical information without my authorization violated HIPAA law. Moreover, this high-pressure marketing of a concierge service in an attempt to credit the $133.77 to concierge subscription fees instead of issuing me a refund check was inappropriate, unprofessional, and unfair and deceptive in violation of the Maryland Consumer Protection Act. I received my refund, but only after two telephone requests, one-and-a-half months from the time of the first request, and two-and-a-half months from the time that my health insurance paid Dr. Musher. In sum, Dr. Musher engages in unfair and deceptive trade practices relating to billing and to inappropriate and unprofessional solicitation for his concierge service, as well as unauthorized disclosure of private medical information. I don't mean to de-value people's opinions, man, but they would just be flat out wrong. Dr. Singh has several convenient office locations and is a pleasure to deal with. His surgical technique is unparalleled. I was diagnosed as having nasal polyps and a deviated septum. I had congestion that had been bothering me for years, and really messed with my ability to run and taste my food. After a consult with Dr. Singh, we decided to go with the surgical route, as steroids and nasal sprays simply weren't cutting it. He showed me what was going on in my nose, explained the corrections that needed to be made, and made clear what I should expect for the surgery and into recovery. If you are looking for an ENT who doesn't like to use a lot of nasal packing and you're in the DC metropolitan area, I'd say he should be your number one choice. Removing nasal packing is very unpleasant, but he's got the technique down. Three weeks after the surgery, my relief was so great it felt like I was stealing other people's oxygen. He's helped me regain my former 8:30 minute per mile marathon pace!

Thoughtful, measured, and experienced in the extreme, while deeply concerned, we were prayerfully led to trust him my mother's care. He and his team are compassionate in addition to skillful. Her pre-surgical stenosis pain is non-existent. She is starting to drive again and has regained a great deal of her agility and confidence. Dr. Amini is clearly gifted and highly trained, as are many neuro-surgeons in the Medstar system. However, his most salient asset is his intentional, patient-oriented approach, and determination to treat his patients like he would want his family to be treated. As my mother said to him, "You restored my hope." Dr. Amini is an answer to our prayers and a primary reason why she is restarting a favorite pastime of walking 10,000 steps a day.
