I came with a group of 6 and we naturally had to order the metre long pizza ($62) al metro, meaning it could be split into 3 different types of pizza out of their 15+ choices so there's something for everyone. Before we did that we ordered some starters; the salt + pepper calamari with eggplant (this was awesome,) buffalo mozzarella salad, and sausage on toast (the name escapes me.) The entreés were good, though portions on the small side...but good start. Onto the pizza...I'm not sure what I expected, but I think I ate a bit of the hype machine because the pizza was just OK for me. The crust was crispy, dough was fluffy, but the pizza itself was a little too flimsy...flimsy enough you had to eat with two hands and the toppings fell off quite easily, so I found it more annoying than enjoyable to eat. I need to come here again to solidify my opinion, but for the time being, if you live near the CBD I wouldn't make the trek out here as there are other places to go. Order a small pizza on the side if you have 6 people, as the metre long will be gone in seconds and you may still be hungry.

Anema E Core is a little restaurant (there is only two tables inside opposite their massive coffee machine and their indoor wood fired pizza oven, the rest of the tables are outside and with the weather being rainy they were not set up yet. We ordered the 4 Formaggi (Gorgonzola, Smoked buffalo Mozzarella, fiordilatte, Shaved Parmesan, basil, olive oil) Crudo E Rucola ( Rocket, prosciutto, shaved Parmesan, basil, olive oil) and for dessert the Nutella pizza all for takeaway. The base is ridiculously soft! I am in heaven. Nom nom nom I love this place! Staff are friendly and the chefs have a think Italian accent which adds to the authenticity of this tiny restaurant. We have booked to go again this Sunday, looking forward to trying their other pizzas and the coffee! Ciao :)

Hubby and I come here at lease once a week for lunch and tonight we tried them out for dinner. Firstly, lunch. Pizzas and Paninis are the focus. They have $5 pizza - lunch size specials which have such soft chewy dough that we just love with fresh ingredients and lots of cheesy goodness on top. We usually end up ordering margherita and hot salami plus a Nutella calzone. The Nutella calzone fresh out of the oven can burn as you just can't wait to eat it but it is so good fresh! They do have some sitting there if you can't wait but you can have them make the pizzas to order. It takes all but 5 minutes most of the time to make the lunchtime size pizzas. Haven't had the chance to try their paninis but they are reasonably priced with it priced based on how many items you want on it. Dinner- this place is pumping at night! We didn't book but came in early for dinner (6pm!). I'd suggest to book as it is so popular! They have those metre pizzas if you're interested but as we have it all the time, we thought we'd try their specials. We weren't disappointed! They don't have a standard dinner menu, it seems it's either pizzas or their specials which is how we like it. Christian seems to have his specials based on produce availability which works for us! We had full 3 course menu as we couldn't help but want all the specials. Entrees- The prawns wrapped in speck just brought out the flavoursome freshness of the prawns. It also came with some bread. The calamari and zucchini fritters were well fried. Not too oily and light. We had Tuscan pasta (Fisarmoniche pasta - had to look it up as I'd never seen it before!) with speck, Gorgonzola cheese and walnut. Sounds odd but it worked. Well balanced flavours and tasty! We also had the spaghetti marinara which had some clams, mussels, prawn and scallops. Pasta was al dente and had the seafood saltiness to it. Delicious! We couldn't resist having dessert even though we were so full! We chose the Tuscan dessert special as it was something a bit different plus the Tiramisnu. Our usual pizza chef from lunch time sold it to us when we spoke to him earlier in the evening that Christian's wife had made the Tiramisu. The tiramisu was just awesome and I'd come back just for it. Looks like they had some you could take away! The Tuscan dessert had cantuccini (biscotti) and a fig/almond tart which was the tiniest slice I'd ever seen but it was very rich so tiny for a good reason! The biscotti wasn't too hard and just right for after dinner and went well with hubby's macchiato. Definately a great place and the staff are so friendly. Always feel welcomed to come here even when the place is pumping and busy!

Aside from its somewhat inconvenient location from a walking perspective, it just looked tacky and "wannabe". When I tried it for the first time however, I was pleased to realize that I had grossly misread the unassuming pizzeria. First things first: Pizza. Simply put, Castel Mola's pizza is the best I have eaten--by far. The dough is scrumptious, the toppings are mouth watering and best of all, it all reeks with authenticity. The pizza chef is on display, just as proof. It is truly Leichhardt's--if not the entire Inner West's--best pizzeria. Now to the pasta. Castel Mola's pasta is of the same caliber as its pizza. Whenever I go now, I always struggle to choose weather to have the pizza or pasta--they're that good. My favourite thing about Castel Mola, however, is the fact that they do home delivery. Living in Leichhardt, there is no shortage of pizzerias to order home delivery from but this trumps them all. All in all, Castel Mola is the best pizzeria, to my knowledge, in Sydney.

Sure why not, you can always go to the pub next door (Hunters Hill Hotel) to have a drink or two and visualize which delicious flavours you will be eating shortly. Our table was not ready until 8.10pm but we were happy to wait instead of sit outside as it was freaking cold! Place was still packed and loud at this hour. The kitchen was tiny, four chefs crowded around the stove making pizzas. We had to wait about 15 minutes and walked around. There were a few other restaurants, but they were all fairly empty. We ordered the fratelli's - with mushroom, rocket and proscuitto, the Napolenta - which had olives and sardines and the Gamberoni, which had prawns, garlic and lemon. I had no idea how generous their portions were! The grilled sourdough was smothered with perfectly ripe avocados, sprinkled with feta, pine nuts, pomegranates, and cherry tomatoes (really good tasty tomatoes). I've had avocado toast before but nothing compared to theirs. It was so good that I came back the next morning and ordered it again. On our 2nd visit, a different manager was on staff; not as friendly but nevertheless cordial. The avocado toast is not a fluke - it was yummy!! We were sat on a dirty table, so we politely requested for it to be cleaned, and their waitress got annoyed and cleaned half the table - not even properly by the way. It was still sticky. We decided to just ignore it and try to enjoy the rest of our night. She kept strolling around the restaurant that was empty and the tables were dirty snd she went and stood at the reception talking to her co-worker - completely forgetting about us... We ordered an Entree that was grilled prawns, meatballs and calamari which came with sweet chilli sauce and bbq sauce - the type you find in a bottle not home made. When the meal came out, we could not help but find it hilarious how tiny the portioning for it was... It was 3 prawns, 3 meatballs and 3 pieces of calamari on a side plate for $17. It tasted nice but it was honesty not worth it. We ordered pizza and pasta (fettuccine bascaiola) to share for our main and the serving girl continued giving us very immature service and extremely unwelcoming behaviour like not smiling and looking absolutely bored. The pizza was WAY under-done, the pasta bowl was.. Pretty shallow and the creamy fettuccine was mixed decently with the chicken they use for pizzas and they dumped mushrooms on top of it all so no mushroom was mixed in. The server finally offered us parmesan cheese for our pasta which was the only polite thing she did and she dumped it on the table and left. We finished our meal and left straight away. The man at the counter was very friendly, welcoming, funny and charismatic and asked if we enjoyed our food today. We didn't want to complain after eating a meal, so we paid and thanked him.

The restaurant has a lovely ambiance, and a more than adequate wine list. There is even a separate menu with a selection of boutique beers. The tables are well set with crisp linen, white crockery and shiny silverware. Servings appear to be all adequate or generous in their sizes. Regrettably tonight's dinner was just not up to scratch. We started with sparkling water with a slice of lemon, followed by a lovely Shiraz for me as accompaniment for my veal Oscar. My wife had a pleasant Pinot Grigio as accompaniment to her Baked Barramundi. All good so far. I ordered the Salt n Pepper Calamari for entree. Regrettably a poor choice. It was served as little squares of calamari with a spinach salad. The salad was nicely dressed and the calamari tasted pleasant enough, but it appeared to have been commercially prepared, was of disappointing texture, and just would have been so much nicer if it appeared to fresh calamari prepared wholly in the restaurant kitchen. On the other hand, my Veal Oscar was a very adequate dish, accompanied by nicely roasted half potatoes, beans, etc. The veal was tender and tasty and served with a lovely cream sauce. For desert, I ordered a Zabaglione, described in the menu as a "chilled, rich dark Belgium Chocolate mousse". That is exactly what it was, so I am at a loss to understand why it is called a "Zabaglione". In summary, a really very pleasant restaurant, with lovely staff and generally quite good food, only let down by a few small and unusual details.
