I sought out hypnotherpay as a last-ditch effort to overcome my fear of flying, and I assumed I was throwing money away. I'd tried many other methods, including prescription meds, and nothing worked. I wasn't just a 'nervous flyer' -- I was the kind of person you'd move your seat to get away from. I flew less than once a year, and those trips were brutal on me and everyone around me. No joke, this was real, pure fear in its most concentrated form.
I went for two 90-minute hypnotherapy sessions to address my flying fear -- I'd accepted a promotion that required me to fly frequently, and had gone so far as to book flights, knowing full well that, if the therapy didn't work, I'd be a no-show at the airport. Within the first twenty minutes of my first session, Alice had helped me unravel so much about my fear that I was able to see, for the very first time, that my fear wasn't about flying. And once it wasn't about flying, it became harder and harder to be afraid. The sessions allowed me to engage in a dialog with my fear -- in a way, I was separating my fearful self from my non-fearful self, and Alice provided the guidance to help dissolve the fear and turn it into a source of strength. It's hard to describe hypnotherapy, other than to say it's not hypnosis. I can only tell you it worked for me when I didn't think anything could.
I can't thank Alice enough for her guidance, support, and expert care. Within weeks of my two sessions, I was flying solo for work, taking propellor planes and commuter jets, handling flight delays and nearly missed connections -- all things I NEVER thought I could do. What's amazing about hypnotherapy is that you don't need months of talk therapy to lay the groundwork for progress. The issues that my sessions brought to the surface were surprising to me, and I've continued to see Alice to address the deeper emotional underpinnings of my fear and anxiety, but even without the continued support, after my two sessions I was able to fly. By myself. A lot.
I can't express how proud I am to be a flyer. I can only say that, without Alice, I wouldn't have been able to do it. read more
