I've been a client since 2016, and while life and scheduling sometimes pulled me away, I've been consistently going for the past two years--and I dread the day that might have to change! I usually take classes with Angie, Mandie, and Shantala, but I've worked with nearly every instructor at the studio--and I'd jump into any of their classes without hesitation. You can tell how much time and thought goes into each session. No two classes are ever the same, and every workout leaves you feeling stronger, more balanced, and totally energized. The class schedule is fantastic--there are multiple options every day, which makes it easy to stay consistent even with a busy life. Most classes are on the Reformer, but they regularly incorporate Tower, Chair, and Jumpboard, which keeps things fresh and fun. The studio has two distinct spaces: one for group classes with seven Reformers and seven Chairs, plus a full range of props; and another, fully equipped room for private and semi-private sessions, featuring Reformers, Chairs, a Cadillac, Core Aligns, Ladder Barrels, and more. Teacher Training was the BEST.DECISION. EVER.  After speaking with a few studios around Chicago who offer teacher training, I landed on Amplified because of the reputation the studio and owner have as the premier pilates destination in the city.I embarked on my teacher training with no background in teaching fitness or movement - I felt like a total fish out of water but fully committed to the process accepting that I was going to initially feel awkward and clueless. THAT IS OK - that is when growth happens! In retrospect, I can now fully appreciate the approach and framework that Amplified and PSC provided. Angie and Mandie taught us to CRITICALLY THINK as instructors so that we can safely, effectively teach to the body in front of us (vs just learning exercise choreography and teaching on auto pilot). Having a full time corporate job, I benefited tremendously from the blended and flexible approach of video/on-demand learning and in-studio immersion weekends so that I could balance learning on MY schedule. I've had the great pleasure of private sessions with Angie at Amplified Pilates for over 10 years. I have watched her evolution from being a pilates instructor at a private health club to starting her own studio and building it to the amazing space it is today. She has been fully invested in my health and has customized my sessions based on what my body needs. I am a runner and I am certain that my running style and endurance has improved greatly because of the exercises she tailors to match my needs. Amplified Pilates, and specifically, private lessons with April have been one of the best things I've done for myself, certainly, the best investment in my health I've made in years. I was a complete beginner when I started back in January (I couldn't even do an assisted roll up, which was, candidly, embarrassing!). Covid had really taken a toll on my health and I hadn't been particularly strong to begin with. April met me where I was in terms of ability and helped me build strength quickly and methodically. I never felt shamed or intimidated the way I have at other studios. I told April that my goal was to make enough progress in privates that I could feel comfortable joining group class and she absolutely got me there. Now I take 3-4 group classes with her a week and absolutely love them. She's great about teaching to a wide variety of abilities in class as she'll always call out modifications for weaker and stronger students which makes me feel like you can take her classes regardless of your pilates ability/mastery. I think my favorite thing about April as an instructor is that she really nails the right balance of pushing you and praising you. She always pushes me to the edge of my ability but is quick to praise my incremental progress and make me feel great about my performance. One final thing I'll say is that I have learned that not all pilates studios are created equal. Amplified keeps their classes small and has incredibly high standards for their instructors from a training perspective. There are a lot of other franchised pilates (or megaformer studios) around town where you may not learn the proper technique and can easily get hurt. It's worth coming to a place that does it right and Amplified does. PS: Their covid precautions are great and their clientele is super respectful. I recently visited Amplified Pilates Center for a group class (and group classes cap out at 5 people which is great) with Kat (who is amazing) and a private with Taylor (who is also fabulous). As someone with serious back injuries (L4/L5 discs) it's critical to practice pilates at a studio with knowledgeable teachers and Amplified Pilates is just that. This studio is incredible. Super knowledgable teachers with great classes and hands on private lessons. They will also modify positions for injuries (like mine) which I so appreciate! Have been practicing Pilates for nearly 15 years and am very selective about studios where I practice and the instructors that work with me. The Amplified studio is pristine (both prior to and throughout pandemic). The studio is on the third floor in a beautifully decorated and naturally lit space. There is both an elevator or stair entrance where check-in and/or the waiver process is performed very efficiently. The space itself is comfortable, light, and airy with floor-to-ceiling mirrors to check position and form. Equipment is in top shape, socially distanced, and clean (I'm very picky). Love the new staggered placement of the reformers, during classes the extra space leads to a more comfortable feeling that one is not too close to other classmates. Classes are limited in size to 5 people and ensures individualized attention. Instructors are extremely patient with new and seasoned students. Prior to class, and most importantly, instructors inquire about injuries and how your body feels. Instructors clearly cue positions and can really push you to challenge yourself. Further, modifications are suggested throughout class as your body may need different spring load assistance to ensure good form and optimal benefit. Classes are challenging and fun; and some are tougher than others depending on the instructor. Since studios could resume during the pandemic, have booked private sessions with Kat. We discuss my personal goals and we work towards accomplishing each. She is extremely knowledgeable, has positive energy, and is an excellent instructor. In the past month, she has challenged me every session and I've been able to regain confidence, a ton of strength, and mastered positions that have alluded me for years. When leaving a session (even in this pandemic), I'm happier and feel more aligned and taller with a greater overall well-being. I look forward to my workouts at Amplified and recommend this studio to anyone (beginner or advanced student) for the variety of classes, beautiful space, and qualified instructors. read more

I recently returned to practicing pilates, and after sampling a few studios in Chicago, found one that I absolutely love. Amplified has a beautiful space, small class size, and most importantly - excellent instructors. In the past few months I've taken classes with most of the teachers and though their styles are slightly different, they are all positive, and encouraging, and conscious of their students different skills, needs, and abilities. Kiley teaches a tougher class, but always leaves you feeling stronger than you expected... Mandi and Taylor have more classical classes with lots of bridging and footwork... Undoubtedly the best studio with the most knowledgeable teachers! I've been going here for nearly a decade -- and had to take a break during the pandemic. I'm finally back - post baby - and was so happy to walk in to see everyone's faces but also repair my post baby back issues. They can look at me and see where my alignment is off then instantly tell me what I need to do to readjust & rectify. Every teacher is amazing but the owner (Angie) and Mandy are the two I've known the longest and they are amazing. I feel stronger after every class and each class goes by so quickly. I found Amplified on Yelp about 2 years ago and I have been impressed with the studio ever since. It's a place where I feel welcome, safe, and excited to go to. Angie, the owner is squared away, knowledgeable and kind. I've taken private sessions with Angie, Kiley, Mandie and Kat. They're all caring, warm, knowledgeable, and lovely women who are serious about Pilates. I recommend them very highly. I've settled into a two day a week routine with Kat and I love it. I've had a few back injuries and she always asks how my body is feeling and is hyper-aware of keeping me safe and building my strength. My back has never felt better and my posture has improved dramatically. Our sessions are very relaxed and we enjoy laughing, but at the same time Kat stays focused and takes her work seriously. We clicked immediately and I love spending the hour with her - she's so encouraging, uplifting and intelligent. One of my fave ClassPass finds. First off, it's a gorgeous brick loft studio, with modern equipment and top instructors. It also boasts the best pilates reformer group class - the perfect mix between classical pilates (which is not much of a workout and more restorative for me) and the latest megaformer craze (pilates on steroids, prob not the best for beginners if you want to live). The classes are limited to five students, so there's lots of personal attention, especially from my faves, Robbie and Kiley. A big plus? I've rocked a number of moves here that I've never seen anywhere else, and after 30+ reformer classes, that is huge to me. Where they really shine is their private sessions. My sis' friend wanted to try pilates for the first time, and my sis, recognizing my ClassPass mastery, said I was the go-to person to ask. Of course, I said a private at Amplified, and then roped my sis in. We got a killer price for a trio with Robbie, which was tailored to our skill level, any specific exercises we wanted to try, musical tastes, etc. It was f'ing top notch. Truly personalized and worth it - since it was just us we didn't need to worry about being a distraction to others (srsly, we swear like sailors #copskids), could work at our own pace, and just feel really, really spoiled. So, treat yourself to a private with Robbie or a group class and you can thank me with some sticky socks later. Hands down, this is my favorite Pilates studio in Chicago (and I've been to at least 8 that I can think of off the top of my head). Instructors: I've taken classes with 5 different instructors at Amplified and like them all! Each are welcoming and knowledgeable, with different teaching techniques/approaches so you never get bored. Studio: the studio is located in a loft space on the second floor of a walk up. The space itself is divided between an area for group classes and another for privates. It includes lockers (bring a lock, although your stuff is safe without it), and a bathroom with a shower. They keep the studio and equipment maintained and really clean- which is a huge plus for me. Group classes: the teaching style is classical Pilates, which I've come to really like (and look forward to). Some think classical isn't as good of a workout as compared to some of the more suped up versions, but if you pay attention to your body and breathing, it's more of a workout than you initially think (you'll feel it the next day). I've never not been in the mood for a sesh at Amplified. What to bring: grippy socks (they have them for rent/sale if you forget). read more

I've been doing Pilates for almost 9 years. It wasn't until I found Angie and Amplified that I started seeing and feeling results. I have back issues. Angie and her staff not only changed my body, they've taught me how to stand and walk differently. I look better and most importantly I feel better. Angie only hires the top teachers in the field. All the staff is extremely knowledgeable about anatomy. Since each has their own style of teaching, the workouts are always challenging and never boring. There aren't enough stars to rate Amplified. OBSESSED with this studio. I moved here a year ago from Ohio and worked with lululemon. I've had experience for years with many studios, and this is one of the absolute best. Not only did I feel 100% welcome, but ALL instructors are super caring about how your body feels before and after class and are very helpful in creating modifications for everyone. Hands down best best best Pilates studio and instructors ANYWHERE. I trained with Angie back in 2004 and she kicked my butt then and have continued to seek her out any chance I have. I recently moved away from Chicago and have yet to find a studio that comes even CLOSE to the level of expertise and awesomeness that Amplified has. They are sticklers for form and offer suggestions in a way that motivates and inspires you. Rehabbing from an injury? Amplified Pilates. Pregnant? Just had a baby? Amplified Pilates. Overall well-being? Amplified Pilates. Are you a dude? Go to Amplified Pilates. They'll kick your ass.. in a good way. My husband does Pilates and he's so much stronger, has been able to recover from his own lifting workouts better, less prone to injury, etc. I have done all forms of exercise my entire life and when I started doing Pilates on the Reformer regularly (with Angie), it was the first time in my life that I actually noticed a HUGE difference in my body - my posture was amazing, I felt great and looked even better.
