There are ruts in the driveways between sites making it inconvenient when towing a trailer/RV (It's somewhat understandable since the soil is sandy and taking the climate into consideration). There are some overgrown trees that hang that need to be trimmed so they don't hit the top of RVs, it can take some careful maneuvering to avoid them. Overall this KOA is a convenient, quiet and friendly place to stay overnight which are big factors that we appreciate.

To take quick breaks, my husband and I stopped by here twice during our trip from Los Angeles to Las Vegas and back. Not only were we able to easily charge our vehicle, but we also got to check out the massive store, which has cool retro vibes. Considering the amount of people coming in and out from this place, I was pleasantly surprised at how clean the restroom was. The restrooms seemed decently sized as well, so there weren't any ridiculously long lines. In addition, many come here for food and entertainment. There are a bunch of candies, snacks, and souvenirs for sale, along with food vendors, a small entertainment area, and a dedicated homemade ice cream bar. (the nearby buildings were also destroyed as well) But they rebuilt this place, and this became the first 'fire proof' building in the Mojave Desert. Fire proof due to the fact that the whole thing was re-built using a railroad carload of cement. (The roof too!) Back in the day, the place was one of few that exchanged gold dust and nuggets for cash that miners could spend. Later, in 1953, a safecracker got away with $1000.00 in gold dust and nuggets. But ya. Back over Columbus day weekend in 2017. I stopped in front of the place because it looked old. Then I read the paper and discovered it was actually old.
