I had a very stressful situation as a legal support staff. I had to figure out how to get a package picked up from one location, taken to another over an hour away, have the package kept there for a few hours, and then taken back to it's original location. Altogether this job is a 10 hour process, a strict hush hush, and on a tight deadline. Instead of saying "no, we can't help you" as most places do, Rick helped me brainstorm and execute a plan. Amstar Legal Express is the best. EASY to work with - everything can be done electronically. After I paid the Sheriff's office for process service, they took 2 weeks and then didn't find the person to serve. Amstar did it in 2 business days. Super effective and well worth the entirely reasonable cost. I hope I don't have to use them again, but I will if I'm in the position to need process service again. read more

I tried to serve my neighbor a restraining order for over a month. He was successfully ducking me and the Sheriff's who were trying to arrest him. One day at roughly 11:30 in the morning I spotted him talking to some workers in the back yard and did a quick internet search for process servers. I came up with the contact for Amstar Express and called. The owner -Doug MacDonald picked up the phone and I asked if he could come right away - I was looking right at the guy I wanted to serve. He said he didn't have any of his guys in the office right then but would come himself and indeed within 15 minutes was in my driveway. When he went to serve my neighbor he had apparently gone to the store. Doug hung around for about 20 minutes and then said he would have to come back another time. What could I say; I didn't expect he would hang out all day. To my surprise 10 minutes later he called to say he had just served my neighbor. He explained that after talking to me and also knowing the guy had just gone to the store he thought he had a great chance to catch him if he waited. He went up the street and kept a visual on the property and sure enough shortly thereafter my neighbor pulled into his driveway. Doug successfully served him and the rest was finally history. I paid extra to have him file it with the county and that was as easy as it could be. I would never go stand in line again after having Doug do it. As an after note - Yesterday I finished at the courthouse and successfully got the 3 year restraining order issued. I didn't give it a second thought. The first stop on the way home was at Doug's office where I gave him a copy of the order and my credit card information and told him to simply serve, file, charge and let me know when it was complete. I've been using Amstar Express almost exclusively since the summer of 2011. Doug MacDonald and his small team make this boutique firm seem capable of running with the big dogs. The few times a temp or someone in the office used a company other than Amstar....it was a mess. From big jobs requiring a dolly to haul off papers to be filed with the court to tracking down an entire board of directors in 3 states and serving them with papers, Amstar delivered and continues to deliver.
