My AAA allows for a 5 mile tow and after that it's $5 a mile. I Google mapped my garage and noted it was 6 miles from my house, so I expected a $5 fee. The driver arrived and told me that my garage was 10 miles away. I told him I already saw on Google that it was 6, showed him my phone and asked how he figured 10? His answer was basically, 'I'm billing you for 10, that's just how it is'. With no other option, I reluctantly agreed. They got the car where it was going so that's great. But I really didn't appreciate the obvious scam in determining the distance. I wound up paying $20 for the tow instead of $5 which is not the end of the world, but it's also not right. And the ironic part is, I probably would have tipped him $10 to $20 for the tow and given them a good review. Too bad.

He charged me for actual hours of labor, not according to the fake scale that dealers use. He also insisted my daughter call him on his cell phone when she arrived safely for some further checks. This was over a month ago and the car has been fine. The only reason I didn't give him 5 stars ( would give him 4.5 stars but don't see how to add the half star) is because I was charged for the tow and was not told the cost ahead of time. He did say my insurance company would most likely reimburse me, which they did. Also his estimate for the work was slightly higher than quoted, but he did say it was an estimate. I would return to him for other work, and was glad to find him. Lately there has been a lot in the news about mechanics ripping off women and treating us poorly, this is absolutely NOT the case here!
