lol no. No Ma'am. This is not it. This bar is the WORST gay bar in Illinois. Not a friendly person…read morein sight. Not One. Well, the door chick was ok. Anyway, the music is terrible. It's just noise. Reminds me of a techno club circa early 2000s. Bartenders (there were two) umm yeah. You can keep them. I could only stand about an hour and a half of this place. I feel sad for the LGBT community here. Saturday night and the best you have to offer is this group of unfriendly people. From the bartenders to the "DJ" upstairs. I ll never go back. No reason to. Just stay home. Seriously. I can see why it's dead on a Saturday night.

Also, as person hoping to make friends, it just doesn't (IMO) have the best atmosphere for that, partly because it's often pretty noisy. Not very conversation-friendly. In a previous life, I went to an incredibly friendly (straight) bar. No TVs, the occasional live band, but typically quiet, great for chatting. Was more of a hangout than a place to get tipsy. The bar tenders are okay, but they don't interact with customers much. Maybe they are just too busy. In my previous bar, the main bartender loved to chat with customers and that, I think, really helped ppl to open up and chat among themselves. And feel welcome. Yeah, one bar can't do everything. Just wish there was a more sedate hang-out place for queers that was compatible with conversation.

I'm always a fan of watching drag, and Zim Marss is about the only place I know of in town to go. No complaints at all. They also have a kitchen. I didn't eat while I was here, but they were advertising a stuffed pork chop with a side and a roll that seemed very reasonable. Drag show started on time.. which is really strange (and very much appreciated). There were 4 entertainers who came out and did a couple of numbers each for their first set and did a great job interacting with the audience. The second set began at midnight and I was fast asleep back at my hotel, so I didn't see it. A fun evening with strong drinks and a show.. what more could you ask for?!

No "for a small town" qualifier necessary-- their drag shows are dazzling & fabulous, full stop. Smoke machines, bright colorful lights, a proper stage, and plenty of comfortable seats-- not to mention excellent drag talent even on an "open stage" mostly-amateur night. We saw 6 different drag performers on Friday, including a very funny drag king, who really kept the momentum going with fun cat-calls sitting out in the audience. The whole show was exciting, well-run & memorable. The passion & unbridled joy of these talented, gorgeous performers was absolutely contagious. I am no night-owl, but it was midnight in a heartbeat & I wanted to stay for the 2nd set. Nothing like a good drag show to make you feel alive. I wish I'd come sooner, I fell hard for this place. Can't wait to return for a Saturday showcase when next I visit Terre Haute!

Alora La Bella was in town from Bloomington & was a stunning host possessed of quiet confidence. Quite the sexy performer.
