I've come here a couple times for a scalp massage. You're on a massaging bed during the hair wash/ scalp massage. It's relaxing but the session varies based on who you get. I found the hair drying part burns my scalp a bit. I've also tried a body massage and probably won't go back. The masseuse was nice but at times it felt like someone was just rubbing oil on my back and then other times it felt like too much pressure on my bones. It's unrealistic that a place of business receives fifty-eight "Good to Great" assessments, and not even one "poor" review. I felt uncomfortable in the surroundings of this spa. I did not enjoy the experience because something just didn't seem right. The young woman performing the service was very timid. The receptionist, also a young woman, was overbearing towards the young staff, and there was an influx of men in their late twenties in and out of the shop for some type of services which I found highly unusual. I have to find one of these in ATL. First, 10 stars for Cece, sweetest, cutest scheduler, receptionist, front desk lady ever! She does it all, but is not the boss. So sweet, extremely nice, customer service 10 out of 10. We needed an appointment for two at a specific time, they were booked and short staff but she called in backup employees and squeezed us in. As far as the setup and interior, very disappointing. I really was expecting a quiet, private spa like setup, it's not that. You are separated by a curtain from the person next to you. If they cough, you hear it. The stations are literally at the entry. So while you are trying to relax, you hear people talking, coming in and out of the place, paying their bill, making appointments, just a mess. I of course was in the first station so I was freezing because it's right by the door and it's winter in Boston! Fun! It's not dark in your wash area/station, it's very bright because everything is in one place so forget taking a nap. They try to combat this with a HOT eye mask. I nearly passed out from a headache. I need cold compresses on my eyes, not heated. They explained it's a Japanese tension therapy method. No thanks. I took it off. The actual head spa table/bed wash station: Extremely uncomfortable. I am 5'3 and I could not relax and kept moving around the entire time because the mechanical bed was too short even for me and my lower calf right at my ankle was hanging out and hurting/falling asleep. Can't explain it. The actual hair wash was awesome, the atmosphere, not at all they really need a revamp to be more of a private room spa. I would definitely get a membership. At the end they offer blow dry and styling your hair and have cheap old products you can use. That was a no, we left with our hair wet. Tips: 1. Request the station furthest from the door. It still sucks because now, you're closest to the people blow drying, but better that than hearing Karen's argue about appointments they don't have at the door like my experience. 2. Bring your own hair products. Your hair will feel really clean and fresh, make sure you have your quality products to put on after. I use Olaplex and Moroccan oil products. They need to get a contract with one of those companies. 3. Bring your own NECK SUPPORT! They had my head sitting on the bare hard surface with nothing in between my neck. Just open space. I have so many neck pillows and even the bath head pillows that are waterproof I wish I had. You'll need it to enjoy the service. They have nothing there. A towel maybe but no. Thank me later. 4. Bring your own heated blanket or a throw. I get cold. They literally cover you with towels that have zero insulation to keep you warm and cozy. No. Bring your own that you don't mind getting wet. 5. Bring you own eye cover. They have the cucumber circle looking ones I got from homegoods that you catch put in the fridge and cover your eyes, bring something like that to at least combat the light. 6. Ask to see the hair after. Before your service, they use a tool and computer display the state of you hair. Mines was full of gel and had some dry spots. Because we came before closing, when we finished they were leaving and did not show how clean the scalp was after. I wanted to see that. All in all try it. For the purpose of having your clean be washed and really clean, highly recommend. read more

I've been coming here for over a year now and I've always had a wonderful experience here. Usually come here every other week for a deep tissue massage with Yoyo, who is the BEST masseuse I've ever had - she really gets in there and gets all my knots out. On top of that, she's just such a nice person! I'm so sad to be moving away because I don't think I'll ever find someone like her!! WOW such an amazing place !!! my sister and I called last minute and they managed to fit us in. Not only was it SO relaxing but it was informative too. You can tell they really know all about scalp care and hair care and were so sweet! They analyzed our scalps and gave us the proper treatments which were heavenly ! They put you in these massive massage chairs while you get your scalp cleaned which was awesome. I received a gift from a friend for the 100 min scalp detox and it was amazing. Once you are greeted, a staff member will bring you to a camera to analyze your scalp and explain to you what they are seeing. They will then escort you to your treat ment room where you will change into a wrap and then lay down on to a massage bed- they do give you the option of turning off the bed. Jenny worked with me and she was amazing! She started off with a massage, then applied scalp serums, performed a mini facial, shoulder massage, deep cleansed my scalp, applied a treatment mask with steam treatment and then at the end she dried my hair. My wife and I have really wanted to try out a Japanese style head spa. We recently visited Japan but unfortunately all of the places we reached out to were fully booked. Luckily I just happened to google Japanese head spa around the Boston area and this place popped up. I tried out the 100 min scalp experience by myself and I totally recommend it and I can't wait to book it for my wife. They 1st provide a microscopic view of your scalp and they mention the good and the bad and the reasons behind the scalp structure. They then provide a blissful massage that is not just for the head but body and mind. You are in a massage chair the entire time while they work their magic. I had Linh and she did a great job giving me a relaxing scalp treatment. It's a peaceful experience (if you can ignore some of the external noises). Lay back and relax at An Japanese Spa. I have been longing to try out a head spa and one of my friend's had posted about this place so naturally I had to try it out! I booked a 100 minute deep cleansing scalp therapy on their website. Quick and easy. This place is located in the Kam Man market plaza in Quincy. Easy to find. Upon entering, I was greeted and waited since I was early. They had tea and candies for patrons which was nice. Once my appointment time was ready, someone took me to a chair where they examined my scalp with a small camera. The woman told me that my scalp was dry and flakey but overall my strands were thick. She said it was good to have multiple strands in each root. She saw that I had some noticeable blood vessels which could mean stress or lack of sleep (both true). After I was taken into a small room with a curtain. The room was next to the waiting area. They had me change into a body wrap and then I laid down in the massage bed. It was very comfortable! From there Bella started on the treatment. She did some scraping, added serums, washed, lathered, and massaged my head. She also gave me a mini facial (no extraction) and she put a sheet mask on and put my head in an herbal steam. This was my favorite part! I felt like I was on a warm beach. The only downside to the treatment was because the room was only separated by a curtain so it was kind of loud. The massage bed was good and there's a place for your arms as well! She could add more or less pressure on the bed. Afterwards, she brought me back to the camera to look at my scalp. What a difference!It was so satisfying to see how clean my scalp was afterwards. Then she gave me a blow dry. My hair was super soft and shiny after. I had asked her how often the treatment should be done and she said monthly. My deep scalp treatment was $128 total but for first timers, she took off 15% so it was only $105 plus tip. Honestly a great price for what you get! I would definitely come back. read more

Highly recommend to visit asap! I went to get a deep scalp detox treatment and was instantly hooked. I left there with my scalp feeling so fresh and clean, best it has ever been in my life. The atmosphere is so relaxing, very clean and soothing. The staff were so friendly and soft spoken, it went with the ambiance of the spa. The before and after video of my scalp was so distinctive; my dry, flaky scalp was rejuvenated to its extra clean and freshest state I've never felt before. I had a wonderful experience today at the scalp spa! Also, I was able to book on their website easily - and that is always the most convenient way to secure an appointment for me. The young lady working at the front was very welcoming & sweet. They did a quick scan of my scalp/ provided me with feedback letting me know my scalp looked very healthy. It was fun to see the hair and scalp up close in the camera. Hui did my scalp detox treatment and she was gentle and thorough and kind. I went for the longest detox option. I am glad I did. I didn't want to leave! The massage bed that you lay on during the treatment was so comfortable and actually gave a great massage. I like how they give you a cover for your eyes. Went in this weekend for their Japanese shampoo and facial experience- I am 20 weeks pregnant so I was a little nervous about laying on my back in a hard chair for 90 minutes but I really wanted to try it! I had nothing to be nervous about- the whole spa was so peaceful and calm, the women working there were polite and attentive and when I shared I was pregnant they were EXTREMELY kind and thoughtful going out of their way to accommodate me- they added extra support to my chair to make me more comfortable. The spa service itself was incredible! I felt so pampered and wow, my face and my hair are amazingly smooth and moisturized now! Be aware! I was injured due to a session at this place. It was my first time. During the session, I felt sudden sharp shooting pain when the masseuse pressed on the back of my neck. I told her to stop and that she was hurting me. She said " I did this in China for living. I know what I am doing . You are hurting because there's something wrong with your body. You can scream if you want." Afterwards, I endure pain that radiates to my back and down my arm with some numbness. After months of physical therapy, acupuncture, and finally MRI, I found out I have two herniated discs! I now require further treatment. This is a nightmare! read more

First time here I had a lovely treatment. I chose the 40 minute option and within a few minutes of being on the chair I already knew I wanted to come back! I When you book ahead, I recommend asking if you can get the waterfall treatment which I believe starts with the 70 minute session. You come in the place is very clean and you lie back on a treatment bed which has a massaging function on it and then your head is massaged and washes your hair at the end of that table so it's very relaxing to be getting a body massage and pressure on your arms and legs and back while you're getting the scalp treatment think of a waterbed meets a massage chair. I had been reading about Japanese head spas as a recent self-care trend in New York and I was curious if anywhere in Massachusetts had it, so I googled and found this place towards the front of the business, which is where I was treatment tables are separated by sheets. HOLY MOLY! 1000/10! Definitely worth the time and money to go and enjoy a few hours is luxury. Originally found them through a Facebook post and needed to go try. Booked an appointment via their Instagram and a confirmation text was sent a few days before - super easy booking process. Got there at 6pm on a Sunday and was greeted by our technicians; whom all offered us water, tea and snacks. Nancy (the owner) took us over to get a scalp exam which determined how our scalp was. She was extremely knowledgeable and super helpful. Then came the service! This was the bf's experience: He started off getting a scalp exam, which determined that his scope was relatively healthly. So they started off with wetting his hair and shampooing it. During the shampoo is when they start massaging your scalp, using pressure points all over your head. Once they've massage twice than the other conditioner and massage in again for a couple of minutes. Then they take their Gua Sha glass, brush out and exfoliate your scope for mild dandruff and dryness. Once this is done, they turn on their "waterfall "tool in order to wash your hair of all dry flakes in your conditioner. While the waterfall is going, they then start massaging your neck and shoulder as your lay there. Once they finish with washing your hair and rinsing the conditioner, they put on a face mask, take the steamer out and steam your entire head in order to open up your pores in face for about 5 minutes. She then re-rinsed his head cleaned everything up sat him up and started giving him a quick neck and back massage. Finally here they wrapped his head up and took him over to the driving station. Where are they blow dried his hair using a Dyson. You are also fully laying down during this entire service and the bed is actually a massage bed, one of those massage chairs you see in Brookstone! They were all extremely lovely lovely people and even through lots of laughter, made sure we had an amazing experience. Bf was a bit hesitant to go but once he was done, didn't want to leave and even promised to be back tomorrow We love love love this place and can't wait to be back! See you soon Nancy! This was supposed to be a relaxing experience instead was close to crying from pain. Then she went to stretch me and it was horrible. I have gotten the Classic Detox 70mins scalp therapy many times here with the scalp massage option instead of the sheet mask option. I love it!!! It is so nice and relaxing. I always wanted to do the scalp massage services so I was so happy when An Japanese Spa opened in Quincy. There is plenty of free parking and located conveniently in the Kam Man Marketplace Plaza. I also have tried the massages there (Japanese Massage 60mins and 90mins & Healing Massage 90mins). The massages are somewhat relaxing. It can be a little painful. It is a little different from what I usually get from massages at Massage Envy. However, I would still get massages from An Japanese Spa. They are quite affordable and it is a nice environment.
