I'd never tried virtual golf before but my son and I had fun practicing our swings. I also noticed there were a few people taking lessons but they have several bays so reserving an open spot wasn't a problem. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Definitely a cool concept if you want to improve your game or learn to play.  I also hosted my birthday party here. After the recent fires the outdoor air quality was terrible, so I began searching for an indoor activity for my birthday and decided on Valley Golf. Christian and Tiffany, the owners, were so easy to work with and responded quickly to my questions. All my guests, kids and adults, had fun playing on the golf simulators. On the other side of their space they have a nice lounge area and tv where people could mingle and have some food and drinks. Music selection was perfect and overall Valley Golf was an excellent choice for a fun birthday outing. I would definitely host another event here in the future.

He put his recommendations up at the front counter. We live in SCV and made a trip to North Hollywood based on our interaction over the phone with Drew. All the staff were friendly. We decided to get all three clubs and Drew helped us find a reasonable putter. He really encouraged me. I have recently taken a lesson and played a small par 3 course and would like to keep trying. Drew explained that if I want a full beginner set of clubs to bring back the ones I purchased within 90 days for a full store credit to be used for a set of clubs. You then have 1 year to upgrade that set with a full refund/store credit. They really encourage everyone giving golf a chance, which I find very enlightening. So far all my golfing experiences have been good and Drew and this Roger Dunn Golf Shop are on the top of the list.

I don't know why I am telling the secret but it is soooo good lol. They have a men's class, women's class and youth class. Get in where you fit in. I was trying to get back into the program, throughout the year, but it got soooo full because it's such a GREAT opportunity and price. My first coach was Morgan. Morgan is great and entertaining. I feel like if you are a beginner, Morgan, is helpful and he will guide you along the way. My current coach is David and he is amazing as well. He is very supportive and meets you at yur level. I love this program and I am super grateful to continue to learn and grow and build a greater love for the sports of golf. It is a mind game and you truly have to be focused and it's not how far you are hitting the ball. Everything is with intention. And they provide you with golf clubs for every age and gender.

I finally pulled the trigger and got 3 clubs re-gripped (SW, 3 wood and hybrid wood). I was thoroughly happy with the results. Horsepower usually opens shop after 12pm almost everyday. Pat is super busy on the weekends, fixing clubs, Trackman set up, etc. I would say 97% of the equipment you can buy at the golf shop, Pat has in his shack at Horsepower. My 3 clubs were re-gripped in the matter of minutes (I didn't have to leave them overnight). Professional, good equipment, and ready to go in 20 minutes. Pat was also very personable and nice. He never pushed his services or equipment. Credit card and cash okay. And way more convenient than going to the retail stores. The prices I think were slightly higher, but it's more the convenience and easy. Not extra gas to drive out to the shops, no leaving your clubs overnight to get serviced. Thanks Pat!

It turns out that Ben is the only PGA instructor in Sunland. Ben is always patient and he explains each step clearly. He has his own teaching method, and a way of assessment. He is very experienced and knows what he is doing. When I was practicing putting one day, he asked me to putt in a direction that looked ridiculous to me. But he is the pro, what can I say?? So I followed his instruction and did exactly what he asked me to do, the ball went in! I recommend 30-minute lessons, because one-hour lessons will make me feel tired and hard to concentrate.

Being the stereotypical Korean, I decided to pick up golf last year and I tried a couple of…read moredifferent instructors before I found Ben, and here's how he is different: 1. He incorporates the mental approach of golf into his lessons, rather than just pointing out how to change my swing. What I mean is that he gets you to be in the right mindset before hitting the ball, which has helped me a lot on the times I would get frustrated. 2. He's all about teaching a natural, fluid swing and not trying force it, rather than trying to kill the ball like I tend to do. This actually helps with not just accuracy but also distance. 3. He teaches useful drills to help your swing, that you can practice both at home or at the range. 4. The way he teaches is very simple and easy to understand. You only think about 1 or 2 things as you try your swing, instead of the list of 10 different things that just overwhelms most beginners. 5. He's really laid back, which I think helped me take in everything he was saying. Sometimes I don't know how he keeps his patience with me when I make the same mistakes over and over. 6. I was CONVINCED that I was pushing some of my shots because I need to adjust my clubs. He could have easily charged me a ton of money to make adjustments and get new shafts, but instead he looked at my swing and showed me that it was the carpenter, not the tools. I'm grateful that he taught me the root of the problem, rather than trying to accommodate for a flawed swing. 7. I frequently email him about different problems I run across during a round (how to hit on an uneven lie, etc) and he's always willing to give really helpful advice. Not many instructors would go out of their way to do that. 8. Grass range! So much better than hitting off mats. Personal story: Before meeting Ben, I knew I was casting the club but previous instructors had all told me it was because I wasn't whipping my hands/wrist fast enough, which really introduced a lot more errors and inconsistency when I tried that. When Ben explained it to me, I didn't really get it at first until I kept practicing the drill he taught me and then a few days later, it made complete sense. Now I understand how to release the club properly and effortlessly every time and that alone was worth the lesson! I can't recommend Ben enough. If you're having trouble with your swing or need club adjustments, you should definitely check him out!

But the course design is so different from other courses with its assortment of terrain & slopes. The fairways & greens could be better yet still decent & playable. We started at 3PM on a Saturday and got paired with a nice Korean couple. Pace of play was good. Unfortunately due to our late start we had to quit after the 12th whole since it became dark & hard to see our ball. We past some who were still playing with their luminous balls. Definitely will return to play again the whole 18 holes.
