I travel through Newark Airport nearly every week, and nearly every week I have a problem at the food court in Terminal C (near gate 75). OTG management's redesign, which includes the use of iPads to order, seems to have removed the accountability that staff feel for customer service. I have never seen such a grumpy, slow moving and disinterested group of employees in a customer service role. This morning I watched the short order cook at the bagel counter yell at a customer to "speak English" when the customer realized he had made a mistake with the iPad and needed to adjust the order. This was uncalled for generally, but in an INTERNATIONAL airport is completely out of line. In past weeks, two thirds of the self checkout iPads are broken, and there was no customer service representative to assist. Whenever possible I go to the Dunkin Donuts by gate 100. The line is long, but the staff work fast, the line moves fast, the food is good, and it's far less expensive than any of the OTG options. read more

OTG has a monopoly at Newark and some other airports. You simply need to buy from them if you want food or drink, and at overly inflated prices. That does only work in an airport setting with a captive/trapped audience. I guess that is the OTG business model. To sum it up, mediocre overpriced food/drink but good waitstaff (likely underpaid). I ordered a sandwich at Boar's Head in Terminal C at EWR. It happened on March 31st, 2019 at 8:02 AM. My Order number was #471. I ordered "Italian Hero" and when I opened it (3 hours later, in flight, somewhere between NJ and CA) I found a Turkey sandwich. Too late to ask for a replacement. If they are not able to fill an order as ordered, they shall not be allowed to serve people, especially in a setup with so little human connection. It was a big disappointment. read more

Ok.. this concert OTG offers should be illegal. Let me explain how it works. You sit down with an iPad in front of you. In order to get served or even greeted (rare), you need to order on the iPad, pay with a credit card (NO CASH excepted!!), pay an automatic 18% gratuity, and then wait to maybe possibly get the nasty food you ordered. The entire terminal C at newark is occupied by this company. Don't be deceived by their swanky looks. Terrible service, bad food, bad concept. If you want a drink go to the only bar in terminal A.. but good luck getting a seat. They take cash and have personable bartenders. Happy Travels! read more

I am in Newark often and try different kiosks each time. The one in terminal C has gotten better in my opinion. It helps when the folks working there lend a hand to remind me of the process. Terrible. It's like a scavenger hunt to just get your food. The food is terrible and you've never heard of any of these places so you have no idea where to go or what to get. Hate the check out system. They still seem to have so many employees but no one will help you. Have tried it a dozen times and have only been successful getting the terrible food maybe 40% of the time. Usually I give up- and I'm a 1K flyer. I'm all for self-service/technology ordering but the staff is not attentive when it comes to bringing your order or keeping your water filled. The waiter came over and tried to take my plate when I was still half way through my meal, about 20 minutes after getting my meal. My water was empty and a reasonable person would have asked if I needed more water but not this waiter. I wasn't finished with my beer when the waiter came and took it. I would have said something but it happened so fast. The waiters try to take meals and drinks away that haven't been consumed and yet don't take the time to top off your water. It's not a busy place and as a former waitress, I don't see any reason that would explain this lack of respect for their customers. read more

Worst airport dining experience ever at Reagan National Airport. Multiple servers with no one responsible for my table. No way to order without using the iPad. If you want something slightly different you are out of luck. Four different wait staff came by my table. Two were abysmal, one okay, and one very good ( I gave her a cash tip). It is ridiculous to have the system put in a tip before you even get your food. Tried three times to leave feedback on their website, but it is not optimized for iPhone. Each time I tried to type it closed. I would advise looking elsewhere. read more

The experience started great the place has a lot of options and a lot of space and is clean and beautiful but the service was the biggest reason I want to come back to Newark NJ terminal C because James F. Horrible self check out. The tablets/interface are far from user friendly. Luckily the woman working there was patient and bouncing back and forth between all customers attempting to check out but frankly having a traditional check out process would be more efficient. I am frequent traveler. Service is the worst. You will wait for food until you ask someone to check. Machines or card readers are broken and no signs. You just figure that it the card reader is not working when you are ready to place the order and it does not work. Management is missing in this operation! read more

I've given this place 2 tries. Never again. First time, Sushi... Bones in the salmon, Tuna was bad, like turned bad. Second time steak sandwich. Over 20 of minutes and that was with a lot of check ups to see if it was coming.(The front staff just say yes it's coming, got to get them to ask the back) I got gristly bit if dry meat that tasted sour and had no seasoning... Let's start with the lack of receipts. If you are a business traveler, prepare for a headache because this stupid system never sends a receipt, not in junk or spam, never sent. Then the games are rigged so you can only redeem points for food items in the airport (way over priced) the tabs for gift cards or anything else dont work. The system defaults tips to like 18 or 20% which is ridiculous since it's the tablet taking your order, the servers really do nothing but bring the food to your location. You cant even use cash at the airport anymore because of these things. Worst idea ever. Also: dont forget to log out or the next person can just check out on your tab. I fly out of LaGuardia airport a lot. While there I've tried most of the OGT's restaurants. Each one is more disappointing than the next. Simply put the food sucks. I ordered Caesar salad that's supposed to come with hearts of romaine. Instead it comes with wilted dark green lettuce that's horrible and not remotely close to hearts of Romaine. I've tried the pizza but it comes burnt. I tried the onion soup it was just inedible. And everything is loaded with 2000mg of salt. Avoid their restaurants. LaGuardia should throw the bums out. There is more to running a good restaurant than just having iPads with pretty pictures to order. You actually have to deliver good food. OTG doesn't. read more

The new eating options at Terminal C at EWR look great. I decided to go to the stands at the end of the terminal wing with the highest gates. It was always the most spacious with lots of options. I wanted to get a slice of pizza. Two people doing kitchen prep things had their back to me at the pizza stand. After a few minutes, I ask if they can help me. They point to the next stand and say "only she can do that". I look around. There are at least 8 aproned employees standing outside the stands. I asked them. They said they couldn't do that task. I found the woman who was able to take the order, and she was speaking to another employee (since at least the time I got there five minutes ago). She said "one minute, I'll be right with you". I walked away. OTG has a monopoly in the terminal. I wrote to OTG to tell them about my experience. They never wrote back. Why should they? There's no where else to go in Terminal C. From now on, I'll get food before I leave for the airport. Terrible experience. read more

The "OTG Experience"--or should I say, the "OTG Nightmare"--is just one example of not just horrible customer service, but simple efficiency. Here was my experience: in my 25 years of living on the earth, I have always ordered my food/drink from the front counter to then pay directly--seems to be the way of game right? Wrong. My experience with OTG at the Newark, NJ airport was probably the worst experience I've ever had--and I'm a pretty easy going guy when it comes to customer service (I've worked at McDonald's and I know how frustrating it can be). I go to order an omelette from a vender--I go up to the iPad menu device, I input my order, and a receipt pops out. (Did I mention how overpriced the food is?) I walk to a shelf with bananas and other fruits... I pick one up. I then think to myself how I would love an iced coffee--I then proceed to the coffee shop nearby. I ordered everything I wanted. How do I pay? Do I pay at the front counters? No. Because we live in a backwards modern world. I have to walk all the way over to ANOTHER line where they take cash at a self-check out (there was an OTG employee there helping customers who was nice and I expressed my frustration). After I had paid for everything, I then went to the two venders where I ordered my food/drink. The coffee shop did not have my iced coffee ready--I had to stay in line AGAIN to then repeat my order to them. The lady did it right away. Then I went to the place where they served the omelettes. Again, I didn't see my order ready. I asked the person at the front where my food was and he proceeded to tell me that he called my name/number out. He then gave me my food--I then said to the person that I had to pay and he shrugged his shoulders. The whole system is totally backwards and asinine! I was so frustrated with the whole experience, I asked for a manager who was very nice. I told him that instead of spending so much money on immaculate store-fronts, animated menus, hipster light fixtures, and the abhorrent iPad ordering systems, they could invest in quick and efficient customer service where people order and pay IN THE SAME LINE to then have the products they want without going in different lines and repeating orders. I will never experience the "OTG Experience" ever again. Hopefully, I will be able to fly into airports in the future where they don't have this horrible frenzied circus. I had a better time in the Denver airport than I did here in Newark. If I had anything to say to OTG, it would be to cut out the iPads completely. When you have a computer between the customer and the employee it cuts out the interaction they should have with each other. My experience at OTG was amazing! i ordered the pizza and it was absolutely delicious. i spoke to one of the cooks, Marisol and the entire waitress staff was extremely friendly. would definitely recommend!!!! read more

It was extremely difficult to find a spot that took cash and the few places that took cash had few options for actual food. The iPads barely worked. Breakfast was pretty crazy with every restaurant offering nearly the same options. It was my first time flying from Terminal C and probably my only one for a while. read more

EWR Airport terminal c was the worst airport dining experience ever. I felt compelled to review the horrible service of this crappy service. It's all iPad waiters and I hate it. The servers seem to be lackadaisical due to the fact that they have a computer between them and the customer. What a horrible model! I left one restaurant tavern something because the second iPad was not working with no help in sight. The cheesesteak restaurant took forever and extra workers seem to be milling about with only one chef making sandwiches. The ketchup was out and the workers were teasing each other and taking forever to help me with a bit of ketchup for my horrible meal. I had to go to a third iPad bar for a frickin beer. I went to the Burger spot in LGA NY airport. The waitress was very rude to me. She did not ask politely for me to go outside she was very condescending and aggressive on top of this the burger was nasty and the fries had no salt on them. Save your money don't eat here! read more
