They have a casual Irish pub kind of theme. A little interesting history about it. It's named after a local bar owner and politician. There was a guy called Michael "Hinky Dink" McKenna who would trade drinks for votes. He was an alderperson in the area. Of course that was a great strategy. It's about $5 to get basic cocktails. The ones we got the last time were pretty watery to be honest. Has no food. They let you bring in things like pizza. Have to make an update about this business. It's apparently closed. The city building commissioner ordered it closed months ago for violations like no fire extinguisher and exposed wires, and now there's a real estate sign on the window, so it sucks.

At one time, each little neighborhood had several of these laid back small bars where the bar tender looked after your needs ( and asked after your family), you could get a snack from the kitchen, have a smoke and play some darts. And the drinks were cheap and strong. (Not everyone can afford the $10 martini including myself and therefore I often miss out on the bar stuff and drink at home.) This place has been around nearly 40 years - long enough to recall the days of 24 hour bars open in Cicero- and the interior has cool old old style lights and clocks and a series of horse racing pictures on the wall. Knowing the neighborhood, I won't be surprised to learn those horses were possiblely owned by former bar owners or their friends. It was common for Outfit and Outfit wannabes to have horses 30-40 yrs ago. The bar tender was friendly and quick and the bar appears to be well stocked- including Marloet- the locally produced liquor. There's even a pot of coffee brewing on the bar- by sobering up or for mixing in a drink. Your choice. The hours are so totally old school, I had to laugh- open 7 am to 3 am. Open on the way TO work for those who hate their jobs and open on your way FROM work for those who hate going home to your families. I was happy with the junk box selection in the several hours I was there- elvis, 70s rock, a little old time country. And the bathrooms were spotless. You can get big bottles of beer for under 2 bucks. I recommend stopping by when you are in the neighborhood - particularly those of you who think Oak Park's the hippest. This bar will show you the true working class nature of the area- and send you home a litle happier.

As soon as we opened the door my friend and i were greeted by the very very DRUNK welcoming committee, which was nnnice, and just a little creepy. It was a Thursday night, with a crowd that consisted of divorced men, and single 30 something males....oOOo the pickings were ripe!! We had hopes of downing a Polish beer, to our surprise Halina, the Polish bar tender, and owner informed us that she didn't serve any-not gunna lie, i was let down...i settled for a cranberry vodka, $4.00, going rate. After mopping about not drinking a beer i started to notice how pleasant this place is, the lighting is perfect!! It's not dark and grim, or too bright like your in a grocery store or something, it was just soft bulbs that just left me with a comforting feeling lol. Has a lot of event and parties going on and fun. This is also one of the main St. Patrick's Day hangouts. Coming here when it wasn't as crazy allowed us to enjoy the actual charm. It's not quite as great as people say but it's still one of the best bars around here to be honest. They're actually kind of limited in what they have and it's also overpriced. A lot only come here because they know about it. It's about $8 for a basic cocktail such as ginger ale and Jameson. There's no food but you can bring in stuff. Has some great things about it. It's always open kind of late. They're located close to 106th on Western.
