My brother discovered Frank's Pizza after one of his coworkers recommended it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ever since then, he's become a regular customer because of the good vibes, cheap eats, and drinks.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He kept saying that he wanted me to try the pizza because he thought I'd like it. He said it reminded him of Fox's Pizza in Beverly, which is what we grew up on. Honestly, Frank's is somewhere I would've never gone without my brother's prompting. I don't frequent the area and rarely go to dive bars, but I was pleasantly surprised. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bar was quiet, clean, and comfortable. It's no frills for sure, but it's a bare-bones environment in the best way.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My brother and a friend of ours were already there when I arrived. They'd already started a tab so, I just went to the bar and ordered. It was early (noon) so I didn't order alcohol. I only ordered Pepsi, but my brother and friend ordered drinks. They liked them and said they only cost $3.50. We ordered a large pepperoni and sausage pizza which arrived fairly quickly. it was piping hot too!! It was so hot that the cheese would just slide off the cracker-thin crust. The pizza was excellent though. My sister thought the cheese was too thick, but, I liked it. I thought it was fantastic. The meats were high quality and the sauce was tasty. Our friend liked it as well. The four of us ate the entire pizza. We visited on a Saturday afternoon, so the bar wasn't packed. There were a handful of regulars at the bar and a couple of people playing the slot machines. There was a baseball game playing on the TV, so it was fairly quiet. During peak hours I'd imagine that it gets pretty packed. The bartender and our server were cool, so I have no complaints about the service. I wouldn't say that Frank's pizza tastes like Fox's in Beverly, but I do understand why my bro made that comparison. They're both good for different reasons. I'd probably visit Frank's again in the future if given the choice. read more

Last time I was there was after a bike run in 1993. I remembered how good the pizza was on that day (even though they had to feed about 150 Bikers) but never had the chance to stop back there. Found out they would deliver to my business which is in the area. Ordered today for everyone in the office online. Had to make a quick change so I called over there and was happy to find out the change was no problem for them. Tom brought our food himself and introduced himself. Pizzas were Great, Fresh, & Hot. Frank's seems perfectly fine as a local bar, but the one star review is for the pizza. This was one of the worst pizzas I've ever had, including frozen pizza. The crust was thin and hard, like cardboard, and flavorless. The sauce was watery. The cheese was somewhat burnt and detached from the pizza. We ordered the meat lovers pizza, which was pricey, and there was very little meat. We left most of the pizza on the platter, it was not worth eating even after spending money on it. We came because of the good reviews but upon reflection none are less than 2 years old. Don't let the outside fool you, but this place is the spot for a thin crust pizza! Stopped here on a whim to get pizza for lunch one day. Inside was a bar with that old school feeling. It doesn't look like anything has changed which is pretty nostalgic. This place is cash only so I had to use the ATM that's inside the bar and pay the ATM fees (which I cannot stand, but I wanted a pizza pretty bad lol). There's a bell to use to place an order if you don't see anyone. Hit that bell and the lady came out from the back pretty fast. She told me it would take only 20 minutes and she was spot on! This pizza was steaming hot out of the oven when I came to pick it up. I normally let the pizza settle so I don't burn my mouth but I couldn't resist since it looks so good! The crust is thin and crunchy, but not too thin...just perfect. The sauce was zesty and sweet which is the way I like the pizza sauce to be. A true hidden gem on the south side. Over the years, I've become a regular here because the pizza is SO DAMN GOOD!!! It's crispy, fresh and delicious. There's something about the sauce I can't even describe and if you like mushrooms, add them to your pizza, they're probably my favorite part. Even the leftovers taste good. What keeps me coming back though is the staff and overall vibe of the place. I love how the bartenders Dawn and Bill always remember my name. I love the wood paneling on the walls. I love being in charge of the jukebox, playing 80's hits and the occasional country song. I enjoy playing pool and actually don't mind that it's in the center of the place. It's cash only. There is an ATM though. If there isn't a game or sports on, they will be playing Ridiculousness, Impractical Jokers, the news or Wheel of Fortune. Everyone will be laughing, shouting out answers at the TV or bitching about corrupt politicians. Go on Monday for half price pizza. Go on Wednesday for free chicken and cheap drafts. It's not just drinks. It's not just food. There's something here for the whole family. The bar is in the front but there is covered outdoor seating with sand volleyball and more. There's a clubhouse for parties and lots of dinner specials throughout the week. In 53 years they've learned how to cover all the bases. I'm glad I came here. A nice secret getaway from the office now only me and the yelp family knows about my little secret hide away. Oh and the pizza is good too. I went to Frank's pizza because I read on yelp that it was "the best pizza in Chicago, period"... So I told my bf, "ok, let's go!!!" That review is currently under "not recommended". The food there is typical, bar food. It was greasy and basic and the pizza was subpar at best. My bf says he'll give the pizza a 2. I'm rating this a 3, because I do love the place. Bar/ touch tunes/ nice people/ nice locals!! They were all great! The drinks were cheap and got the job done. They have touch tunes so I got to be my own DJ!! Customer service sucks! Ordered takeout. Not only did this lady got my order wrong it came with a side of ATTITUDE. If you're going to work with people at least have patience to work with them. It makes you feel soo guilty but you can't help but eat another and another slice until the whole thing is gone. I went for a family size pizza on a Saturday night around 7:30pm and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes which it was ready in 25mins. Pizza was awesome!!!!! I waited at the bar for my 25 minutes while my pizza cooked. We sat down and it was 10 mins before we got serviced than I ordered 2 mixed drinks N 2 domestic bottled beers. I looked on the website which stated happy hours on Saturday's was from 7 pm- 9 pm $2.00 domestic bottled beers and $3.00 mixed drinks. My total purchase was around $25.00, I asked the really long haired bartender I thought these drinks were on sale for Saturday's N her response was maybe it's on sale on Tuesdays. I showed her the website which started happy hour and her response was maybe that's a different location. I showed her what the site said and she responded she didn't know anything about it and still changed me around $25.00 for something I thought should have been around $11.00. I'm not sure why I was charged more when there were lots of other people there watching the Sox's game and she kept pouring beers for them. But if the website is not correct it should be changed or trained bartenders are in order on proper customer service. They need to expand their delivery service past Harvey. Service was quick and friendly. Parking lot was well lit and clean. Probably wouldn't dine in, it's definitely more of a dive bar. Sausage needs a little more flavor, otherwise decent pizza. read more
