2nd time at the yard. May 2021 and August 2022. I come up from San Pedro because of the good price on lay days. I've pulled my boat from the east coast to the Caribbean and George is by far the best and most careful operator by far! And the new operator is excellent. I've had them cut the backing plates for all my thru hulls, otherwise I do my own work and whenever I had a question on an odd repair they were always happy to give advise. Prices for supplies are the exact same as West Marine and Diana in the office is up front about that. And Andy was super understanding last year when I had to wait for a British threaded thru hull that was shipped from the east coast and I had to stay on the hard longer. ONLY take your boat here if you are into PAIN! Really serious PAIN! They rented me a work Slip for 2 months. I gave up my slip in Ventura and had my boat towed to Anacapa. 5 days later Andy told me that they needed the slip and I had to LEAVE! When I said I had a rental agreement I was told that, if I did not leave they would tow me out into the harbor. Really cute! Again, Check your PAIN tolerance before going there. I've known the guy that runs this yard for over forty years, I kept my boat in a slip before and a few years after Andy Jr and his wife took over the lease with the County.. Always paid my rent automatically and other yard fees without question and always loved being there, never caused any problems and liked the others that worked and rented space/slips.. but for unknown reasons I was forced to vacate my slip, as well as several others that I could name. I assume their reason was because I didn't haul out there. Whereas there was no obligation to do so.. several others have similar issues with them.. my suggestion is to not have anything to do with either of those people. Don't try to save any money at this establishment. Mother trucking like no other. They do everything to jamb you up. Like splash you last thing in the day. If you have trouble and have to be hauled out , then charge you double time to pull back out. I had them paint the bottom of the boat. Then they replaced a hull through and didn't paint it. Wanted my mast installed. They couldn't do it. But they been happy to collect six months rent as it sits there. They leave a real bad taste in your mouth. I've grown to hate boating. Anacapa Marine Services is now known as BellPort Anacapa Marine services, as they were just acquired. I bought a sailboat in Oxnard and BellPort did some repair work on it and also prepped it for trailering to Berkeley. The repairs were done well, the people I dealt with were friendly and knowledgeable, and the packing and prep for the trip was also done well, with the exception that some items didn't arrive, most notably the GPS/fishfinder, worth around $750! I made multiple requests asking them to send me the items they neglected to include, but now 2 months have elapsed, with no sign of my stuff, even though they said they had it and would UPS it to me in February '08. Nada. I give up. So that's why the 3 stars instead of 4 or even maybe 5. I want my crap, I paid for it dammit! read more

The 2 guys working in the yard were very helpful and considerate. However, the woman in the office was about as impolite, ill mannered as you can get. We had a simple misunderstanding, so I told her my honest opinion. Well, her answer was that she really didn't believe that I appeared to be an honest person. WHAT? I recently had my boat hauled at Anacapa Boatyard. I had the bottom painted, hull buffed & cutless bearings replaced. The prep work on the bottom was very good along the paint job. The detailed buff on my hull was done with great care. Frankly, the boat looks brand new and it's 23 years old. They let me work on other maintenance items myself and that was appreciated. Anyone with a boat knows it is expensive. Allowing me to work on my boat helped with my overall expenses. Both Jorge and Vince were a pleasure to work with and very professional. You can tell they enjoy what they do and took excellent care of me and more importantly my boat. Their pricing is competitive and fair. read more

The worst place to take your boat very unprofessional people and they will rip you off Guaranteed from what I saw when I was there would have scared anyone that knows what is go on away from there. They ruined my battery and tried to say that is how it was what a bunch of crooks!!! They sub there work to unprofessional mechanic that did a $1200.00 worth of work? to changed the impeller 6 quarts of oil to the lower unit and two 2 foot 5/8" hose. THE WORST PART AFTER DOING THAT the mechanic calls me up to tell me the there is no compression on all six cylinders and the motor is no good and will need to be replaced. THEY ARE GETTING SUED DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID!!!! read more

They did a decent job on what they did. My main problem is I don't like to pay for more than I agreed to. If it might cost $750 to fix something, say that, don't say $250....and then say it was just an estimate. But more importantly, if the owner says we won't get charged a daily rate while we are waiting for them to do work on our boat, then don't charge me. I appreciate honesty. Yes their guys are good, but $28 more per hour than the Ventura boat yard charges? I think they have a management problem and the owner and the manager have to get together and agree. My personal take is that if as the owner of a business, you say something, then that's what should happen. I wouldn't go back. read more

worst place ever. I wanted a stress crack on the inside of the hull fixed, Mark was very nice and helpful, looked at it and told the manager Michele it was a 3-4h job and the boat could stay on the trailer. I was fine with that and was going to trailer into their yard. But then I first had to negotiate that they would not charge me storage fee over the weekend because they could not do the job right away on Friday. Mind you I called them ahead and they reassured me they will do it right away and had an appointment. I spent the whole morning off work to get the boat there and back to the yard for nothing even when I called ahead to make sure this would not happen. Michele insisted on charging me a 'haul out fee' of 100$ since it is their policy even though I trailered the boat to their yard, where it would stay on the trailer and not hauled out. So I asked them I they come pick it up from the parking lot across the street but they did not, basically they wanted the $100 to do nothing. I'll find someone else or do the job myself now. wont go back there read more

I was recently fortunate to acquire a 25' Sailboat after years of thinking about learning how to sail. Being new to the sailing community I began calling local marinas in Ventura to have the boat lifted off trailer and set up so I can do some bottom painting. Marinas around town were ridiculously overpriced and stores in the area were marking up their paint to ridiculous prices. After calling Tad at BellPort Anacapa he quickly was able to quote me out for services and paint at an extremely reasonable price. His pricing for the yard was almost half the quoted price at near by marinas. He was also able to save me more than 100$ in paint. compared to local areas. He was extremely accommodating and knowledgeable answering any questions I had or assisting in any way needed. at any time. Additionally, the crew was helpful and and genuinely interested in my progress. Tim is probably as solid as they come and his skill was evident. As my 3000lb boat was lifted off the trailer and put on stanchions, I was completely confident in his crane abilities. I would trust my boat to his crane any day.. Robert was skillful in painting and took the time out of his day to check out the boat and give input as he was knowledgeable about the ins and outs of painting. He took the time to give advice. As I am planning to live aboard a boat for a year or two, he was able to give advice on the necessitates and what to expect. Everyday I was in the yard working on my boat I noticed Tim and Robert working extremely hard. Their pride in everything they worked on a work ethic was inspiring. Overall, the service excellent and my experience was more than satisfying. Do Not Go Here! The scam is to get your boat up on blocks then not work on it. They charge you yard fees for each day. Took 2 weeks to do 4 days of work. Mark is the only Shipwright working. The place is filthy, it will take you a month to clean up afterward. They were unable to remove my prop and gave up now I am left with a problem in the drive shaft. I have to haul out again to fix it. The Manager/Bookkeeper answer to no workers is "bring your boat somewhere else". She then blames her workers when you complain. Very churlish person. The problem is she does not have workers, they all quite. Very bad place. No pride in performance. Mark and Jorge are trying to do their best but hampered by the front office. read more
