I love this little Ukulele shop. The owners are the best! Every time I pop in, I feel like they're family. I'm definitely wanting to make friends with them, and learn all I can about Ukuleles and playing Ukuleles. I purchased my Tenor Uke from them and I love it so much. I started playing Ukulele last year, and purchased several from different shops. Park in the alley, behind the place, go through the big iron gate, and find them to your left, just past the hair salon. I need some time to go in and hang out. These people are great! P.S. He was actively involved encouraged me to try out different instruments, we (me and my wife) probably spent about 2 hours but we are 100% satisfied with our experience. This place is smaller than it seems from the pictures, but it has enough space to offer a wonderful selection of ukuleles, sheet music and accessories like cases and tuners. The counter with the cash register is a Tiki bar. So cute! Ashley was very helpful and sold us a nice red concert ukulele. She happily replaced the low G string when it popped off a week later and tuned everything nicely. She did charge for the new string, but I was fine with that. This place has a wonderful atmosphere and there is always someone in there playing the ukuleles - someone who is a master musician. The place is that perfect blend of casual, quirky, and professional. If you're not looking for it, you might drive by since, for some reason, Ventura doesn't let them put a sign on the store. Now that I know where it is, I hope to go back as often as I can. read more

This used to be a friendly establishment, but after yesterday's experience, it isn't anymore. First of all, it is a very good place to buy ukuleles. My husband purchased a Kanile'a for me as an early anniversary gift. One with abalone inlay of the Hawaiian Islands. We ordered a Crossrock case to go with it. When we got the case, we purchased it, but noticed it wasn't the one that I wanted. No big deal. So, we ordered the one that I did want. Lloyd the owner said that it would arrive in about a month. Unfortunately, we didn't arrive to pick it up until yesterday 11/10/17. My husband and Lloyd would email back and forth. And Lloyd emailed us to let us know that the case had arrived. When my husband called him, he was very rude and said that we should have picked up the case when it came in. This took my husband by surprise. It's true that we should have picked up the case, but to be treated that way? Seriously? Plus, between work and church, my husband is very busy. We drove to to Ventura, and arrived at Anacapa Ukulele. We were ignored when we walked into the store, as Lloyd was helping another couple. He eventually said hello to us, but not in a friendly way. He showed us a ukulele case that he said we ordered. It wasn't the right one, and tried to tell us it was. My husband was very polite the entire time. He said that wasn't the right case. Lloyd said that he could order the right one in another month. They even discussed back and forth trying to find the right email. My husband said that we would let him know if and when we wanted to order the right case. Lloyd and my husband shook hands, and said thank you and left. The room was cold despite the store being humidified for the ukuleles. Lloyd could have been nicer on the phone and told us: "Hey guys, I can't hold this case for you much longer." He could have acted professionally. Im almost certain he sold the case that we ordered, and tried to pass off another one that we never ordered. That's outright deception! Needless to say, we won't be back again. My husband can change my strings on my ukulele from now on. Mahalo but no Mahalo! read more

I can't say enough how helpful Lloyd was in helping me with a used ukulele I picked up. I went there to get new strings and he offered to change them for me right there and tune it for me. He also treated the neck while he had the strings off and filed the bridge for a better fit. The only thing he charged me for was the strings ! So I picked up another set as well as oil and polish to keep it in shape. So impressed I will never go anywhere else. Highly recommended. read more

I played a 5 string Ohana ukulele while visiting my daughter in San Diego, and later decided that I should buy one. I checked Yelp, and though I have had very positive experiences with Jason at USpace in Los Angeles, I decided to visit Lloyd at Anacapa Ukulele's as it is on my way from Santa Clarita to the beach. The owner was very helpful and the store has a wide variety of very nice ukuleles. He offered to bring in two of the five string ukuleles I wanted, as he wanted one for the shop. I came back a few weeks later and purchased the one that resonated best with me. Many months later, I took the Uke to San Diego and when I opened the case I found the bridge had pulled away from the sound board in transit. When I got home, I called Lloyd to ask if he could repair it. He stated he could and just needed to contact Ohana for a new bridge. I asked him to restring with Worth clears, which he had in stock. Imagine my surprise when he refused payment for both the bridge and the strings. Though I had the uke, and have been playing it, for months, he stated it was "under warranty". Wow!!! We are SO lucky to have a ukulele store in town where you can find an unbeatable selection and the owner could not be any more helpful with incredible enthusiasm, more excited about getting me into the instrument than making a buck. Kudos to these guys. They will and have my business and I'm now totally into this diminutive instrument and I have to thank these guys for hooking me up. My husband and I decided to take up the ukulele together---we went to Anacapa Ukulele to shop for instruments. We were never pressured or rushed...to the contrary, we were encouraged to take our time, to wait until a big shipment was coming in, etc. Lloyd was determined that we have a very positive "entree" into the ukulele world. He even stayed late after closing hours while we were making our final choices. When we left, my husband said, "I have never in my life met a nicer, more honest and sincere shop keeper."
