Best selection of local, organic, vegetarian and gluten free food in the region. Fast service with no lines.

There's a…read morewinding 1 lane road to get to the location and it's perched right next to a tidal flat with an incredible view. There's no shade, I think I could see people getting sunburnt in the hour that I was there. I ordered a dozen shucker's choice oysters and received an assortment of 3 different types. It's pretty amazing the difference in taste across the different oysters. They were great! Super fresh and served with a couple wedges of lemon and mignonette. A little different than the way they're served on the opposite coast (typically lemon, cocktail sauce, horseradish, and mignonette. Several of the oysters were pretty large and took some chewing to get through. I paired them with a nice glass of gruner veltliner. Great spot, I'd definitely return.

I was really looking forward to this, and was really let down by the service. As the rest of my family was ordering at the counter, my baby began crying so I hopped out of line to find somewhere quieter to give her a bottle. I sat down at a completely empty section, started feeding her, when a waitress came up to me and bluntly told me there's no open seating. I explained, with a crying baby in my arms, that I know there isn't open seating and that my family was at the counter ordering and that I wasn't planning on sitting in my current (again, completely empty section) spot and that I was just trying to calm down my daughter. I was met with an eye roll and an even blunter "Well there's no open seating here, you can't sit here." ????? Some understanding, or a suggestion of where to go, would have gone a long way. This was my first mother's day, and my first food outting with my daughter, and starting it off this way was so uncomfortable and awkward that I'm not sure I'll come back here.

Then an older gentleman said we can make Tuna on white bread if you like. We didn't even notice the sandwich counter. What a great concept. The lady who made our sandwich took real pride in making what we wanted. We will definitely stop by Safeway on our road trip for a quick picnic lunch.

The aisles are much narrower than normal. Because of that all of the aisle stacks should be eliminated. They impede traffic flow and the customers hate them. Furthermore, they hurt the sales of the product on the shelves behind them. During my tenure in the Portland Division we eliminated aisle stacks in all of our 103 stores. We also had a rule that two baskarts must be able to pass with ease any place in the store. 2. Because of the narrow aisles more stocking should be done at night. It's now a constant battle to get around them as they block aisle after aisle, especially in the cheese aisle. 3. This store has a much larger than normal employee turnover. WHY? I've been told that help is hard to recruit in Anacortes. However, I see other businesses with very low turnover.
