The super nice mgr, Kevin, is so helpful with whatever you need. I went in here after whoever is in charge at the Ace on 4th St in Long Beach was so rude, and had the exact opposite experience. Immediately Kevin was available and patiently listened to my frustration about repairing an older model Mansfield toilet tank. He offered info and instruction about parts to replace first the fill valve and when the problem persisted, the flush valve. I had to put this off because the expense of hiring a plumber would've been such a hardship to me, but doing so incurs water waste and hence, cost. I hadn't done this job before but felt confident to try it after speaking with Kevin and it worked, so I was very grateful for his help and pleased I persisted and solved the problem. Even though it's part of a chain, it has a small biz feel. It's a tiny hardware shop filled from floor to ceiling with household supplies and tools. You can your keys copied into lightweight aluminum keys. Believe me, you will notice the difference when you carry more than 3 keys! The service people are friendly and super helpful! I wanted to hang a big heavy picture frame and they made sure I got the right type of nails. Even told me that I could return it if it didn't work. So no worries of buying the wrong stuff. Home Depot and Loews lose that one-on-one customer service because they're so big. The workers there seem rushed or just not around. Ace will be the store I go to first. read more

I have been come here for years! I have always had pleasant experiences and have always been treated nice. The manager is super chill and everyone else is also super awesome. I always feel like I can ask for help and welcomed. I don't even have to ask for help because that's the first thing I Come across when I walk in. Today however was a different experience by someone I haven't really interacted with. I've came across her at least 3 times within a 1 month span and each time hasn't been very pleasant. She's very rude and blunt. I let it go the 1st time because I work customer service I know what it's like to have to work on a bad day and have rude annoying customers but I always fake it til I can clock out lol. I went there today to do an exchange around 5ish and they close at 6. Today was my only day off in the past 2 weeks and needed to do the exchange because who knows when I'll have an other day again. Of course I forget my wallet but I have my receipt and took my chances. My receipt was snatched from her and didn't receive a greeting or eye contact. She was very blunt and seemed tense like as she had a very bad day at work. She informed I couldn't receive my exchange or refund because I needed to bring in the card I used. Okay no problem I asked what time it was to see if I had time to walk back home and come back she looked at me with a dead stare and said we close in 30 and walked away. ???? Uhm okay needless to say she's just a btch every time I've gotten tang up by her. And like I said I let it go because I know the feeling of not wanting to be at work but I also run a business and own property where I manage employees and customers and sometimes I don't want to deal with any of their demands and I wish I could give even half the attitude she gave me today. They were super helpful and friendly! I was trying to copy some keys for my dear old gramma. We went to the dollar store first where we thought they could service us but the person that copies keys wasn't working. As luck would have it, this place was couple blocks over and got things done it a jiffy. I didn't have any issues or concerns. My gramma was really happy by the end of this too! Major key. (Do people still say this) I always bring with me random questions. I've been going to this location for years for any help with paint, housing supplies or fixtures. Came in at 11:30am to have my window screen repaired. I was told that I will completed later on that afternoon. Wasn't a problem and told him it was fine since it wasn't too urgent. Wrong idea.... Called 45 min before they were about to close since I noticed they haven't called to pick up my screen and was told it want done and that it should be done by tomorrow and if I had brought this is around 2pm (I guess to justify that I brought it in late, umm, no. 11:30, lady). Then another gentleman came in on the phone and I informed him I was told it would be done later that day and then he says, "Well, I wasn't the one who spoke with you." Well, obviously not, SIR! Like how rude!" Morale of the story ask them to WRITE out the time it should be expected if it's the same the pick up or call mid afternoon to check for the status. Wasted a whole day. read more

This location has a lot of shit crammed into a tiny location. I've always found what I'm looking for when doing household repairs. The first couple times I came in here looking for an odd fitting or o-ring I insisted on finding it myself and told the staff I didn't need help. But the little pieces are in compartments in trays in boxes stacked on top of each other. So take the assistance when offered. They're super friendly and will even offer sage advice sometimes. read more

Great customer service first and foremost. Gives you that old mom and pop shop feel. I loved it. So after having a car window busted into and vacuuming out the glass I decided to stop in and see what I might find to cover up the damage. This was a holiday weekend mind you. Soon as I walk in I'm asked if I need some help. I didn't know where to start and just flat out ask if they had any experience in temporarily covering up busted windows. Guy looks at my window and says yeah we can help. Might cost me a couple bucks he says. Cool, whatever I thought. Any ideas would help at this point. Long story short. Our company recently moved into this neighborhood so I came here looking padlocks, to get spare keys made, etc. To be on the smaller side, this is the most organized, clean, well-stocked store of this kind that I've ever been in. Phil is the manager and is always looking out for customers who have specific needs. The staff is great, especially Favi, my fav. Go ahead try to find a more complete offering in such a small space, AND organized! I Love this store! BTW, the Ace branded products are very good, unlike the big guys, who's brands are usually the worst imports.
