OK, let me say from the top that the proprietor, Don is a great guy, and I want to like this business even more than I do. But the atmosphere kind of falls flat, despite the attempt to make it ultra-hip. Some men, depending upon their pop culture IQ, will not find the business welcoming or accommodating to their needs. Those guys would be better of with a more traditional barbershop environment. Also, for those with mobility challenges, be advised this barbershop is now located upstairs, and is not ADA compliant. Now, about the haircuts, which seem to vary in quality from satisfactory to mediocre. The barbers seem to rotate work schedules, so unless you consistently go on the same day, you might have a different person cut your hair on each visit. Personally, that isn't a problem with me, but keep it in mind and call ahead if you are picky about your hair. I live in Portland, but am in Eugene often, so I make this my preferred hair cut stop while in town. The shop's hours are very accommodating, usually open later than most barbershops in the area. One drawback is that parking in the downtown area is often a pain in the ass affair--hit or miss, at best. read more

OK, first off, this barber shop is not so much retro as uber hipster; secondly, I've learned that not all the barbers are of equal skill or talent--though some do seem to try harder than others. This used to be my go to shop, and I've had good and bad experiences. For a guaranteed, stress free haircut, see Carmen. She is a masterful stylist, and fun to talk to as well. Justin has always delivered a great cut too, but he's currently not on the schedule much. Steve is good too, but sometimes has an attitude about how you want your hair cut, and how he thinks it should be cut, so that the end result might not look like what you were expecting, Josh is my last source for a haircut, because he rushes through his cuts and tends to leave unblended lines. The owner, Don, is a great guy, and a damn good haircutter, too. He's seldom there, except for on Mondays, so sit yourself down in his chair if he's in. I travel a lot for my job, and am frequently in Portland, so I don't get in to Analog Barbershop as frequently as I used to. I am so glad Don is back in town and has his own shop! I used to get my hair cut by him at another shop. After a brief hiatus, he has returned to Eugene and opened his own place. The best things about this place: -Great haircuts that last a long time (still look good 2-3 weeks after you walk out). For a barber Don has a lot of skill. No offense to barbers, but I feel like most of them just give the same clipper hair cut to everyone that comes in. I feel like Don could easily be cutting hair for rich women in a fancy salon somewhere, but he keeps it old school and cheap. -Good music from Don's turntables. I think he is a DJ in his spare time. -Cool atmosphere. -Cheap. -Analog is one of the only places I know of where you can get a hot-lather shave with a straight razor. Analog is a great little barber shop, with a very Eugene feel to it. There are LP covers and contemporary art all over the place. The owner is great, and very fun to talk to. He seems to have a lot of experience and stories from working at other places, which was comforting. The haircut was QUICK. It took only about five to ten minutes, and no more. He likes to give haircuts that are not necessarily the "norm", but he still keeps it very moderate, giving just tiny bit more personality. Don't let me scare you, I usually just get a normal hair cut, and I'm not one of the Eugene hippies walking around. I recommend this place definitely. My buddy said this was the best barber shop in town, but I have to disagree. I have had two haircuts there. Justin cut it the first time, and it was just ok. Not bad, but just average. This last time Jason took a whack at my hair and over did it with the thinning shears, gave me white walls around the ears, and screwed up the neckline with an uneven taper. Plus, I was charged different amounts for both haircuts. It's a hipster place that might be best suited to guys who like fades and buzz cuts, but it isn't a real barber shop in the traditional sense. read more

Kristen took the time to ask about and listen to the way I wanted my hair cut, which is difficult hair to cut for a first-time barber. Cool, hip, and with it - great atmosphere. This place became the only shop for me once I got a cut from Ivan. He got exactly what I was asking for, executed it perfectly, and with his keen sense of style, helped improve the cut over the couple years I've been seeing him. One time, I made the mistake of getting a cut from someone else, came out way too short, botched it bad. Ivan was able to fix it, seemingly defying the subtractive nature of haircutting. Steven cut me for the first time. Clean shop in a good location, next to the bus station. Great haircut experience. The price is a little higher during COVID because they have to disinfect everything, cutting the number of customers they see in a day. $40 for a cut. However, I can easily see the difference in this haircut vs a $20 at sport clips or the barbers. Well worth the price imo. TLDR: good cut, clean shop, higher price but worth it. read more

I tried to book online yesterday for a cut from Mario. I wouldn't take my booking. I called the shop and was told that Mario is no longer there. Whoever answered the phone told me that he would cut my hair. When I asked where Mario went I was told that he didn't know. I had a great experience here! I got my hair butchered at another shop and went to Analog to see if they could fix it. Not only did the barber (sorry it was a bit ago and I can't remember her name) do a great job fixing the mistakes of the other person but she gave me a new style that I really dug. The Analog Barbershop is the most comfortable barber shop I've every been to. I always get the kind of haircut I like. But it's more than that. It's a place for me to escape. I can't say enough about Amanda! My Husband couldn't get in with his regular barber, so I talked him into giving Analog a try. We had a minimal wait time, He had a very grown out beard, and hair, and she did a fantastic job, he gave her a vague idea of what he wanted and she more than delivered. He will be back.
