My story negates the good selection of records at this store. I found a nazi record in the stacks and brought it to the front counter. I said that it was really offensive to me, as a Jewish person, for the store to be making money off of it. The not-so-bright-or-sensitive dude at the counter said "it's historical". Yes my friend. The slaughter of six million of my people IS historical. It doesn't make it okay to sell. Would you sell records about slavery? I am really disappointed in how this young man handled the situation. I am even more disappointed that the store would carry this record in the first place. I would consider questioning their values before you shop there. Update: the owner did take the time to call me and we had a good discussion. End result: I suggested he put sensitive material in their own section with a warning. read more

I love this place - my personal favorite record store in Providence. They have a great selection of vinyl across genres with both new and used records. Plus the shop proprietor is super nice and knowledgeable. Every time I stop in I find something that I've been looking for and I love that they have both rarer used stuff and new repressings. I always prefer to buy from here (rather than online) to support a local business - especially when so many others are closing. read more

Analog Underground makes me long for my dad's old record player, a stack of vinyl to go through with a sixer and my best friend. Breathe deep, and smell the nostalgia: that's what it's all about. The small-ish shop way down on Broadway is unpretentious and super-chill. On fist glance, they had Zeppelin, Stevie Wonder and The Stones popping out of their milk crate display case on the sidewalk, and were blaring some more modern music on the sound system. They're mostly a vinyl shop, but do have a small selection of CDs and even cassettes. The records are mostly worn lovingly, but in good condition and they're very reasonably priced. Everything is moderately priced and comparative to, if not cheaper than, online. Their collection of $3 albums is always curated and full of gems. The racks range from $5~20. If you are looking for more expensive / rare, they have a constantly rotating wall of choice albums. The staff is awesome and will happily guide you to your next favorite album. I really don't want to tell you this is the best record shop I've ever been to. That they have some of the best albums, some of which my partner and I have never seen at any of the other shop before. I don't even want to tell you that it's a goddamn steal to pick up Harry Nilsson, Talking Heads, and Gary Numan for under $10, albums that we've not found on vinyl elsewhere. I want to keep it all to myself. But the vinyl revival forces me to share the love. If you're a collector, you will know by the selection of music in the crates infront of the store that this is where you need to be. We picked up a ton of records, but there is still so much more... The records are clean and in good condition. The only bummer about this spot is that there's no listening station. This is easily looked over when the guy at the counter offers to play any record you want while you shop. read more

**disclaimer, I rarely give 5 stars for my first visit to a place. This place came close, I will have to visit again and update then. We had finished brunch and I walked in not knowing what to expect. This is a great little record shop, diverse selection for the size, and the prices are priced to sell to the normal record listener not collectors. After taking a look through their selection I had my stack of records to buy, and I began talking to the guy behind the counter while he wrote up my receipt. I was shocked to hear they just opened a year ago, their inventory would suggest otherwise and it just added to my already impressed opinion of their shop. The guy was very knowledgeable in not only the local Providence music scene, but without pausing he recommended another shop just up the road for some metal that I was looking for. It's difficult to find a cool record shop with staff that is just as excited as you about sharing the wealth in regards to finding what you're looking for. I really wish it was in Boston, but i guess I have another reason to visit Providence more often. read more

I found Stevie Wonder's greatest hits for $3 (busted cover!), need I say more? Well yes, so I shall! Before I made the trek to the west side, I made sure to look at the reviews. People seem to really like this place, so I was psyched! I dragged my partner along and off we went! The number of crates and records on walls was simultaneously overwhelming and exciting! Within minutes, my partner found Jay-Z's The Black Album while I spotted several Donna Summer albums. Again, I must reference the $3 Stevie Wonder album: it was a great find! I also overjoyed to find a copy of Still Bill by Bill Withers. While it was jarring to find the Nazi Germany album, I shook my head and put it back in the discounted bin. We were very impressed by the selection. This is only my third time purchasing LPs in a store and I had a pleasant experience. The staff was friendly and allowed us to spend well over an hour perusing as many crates as we could stand. We were eager to get home after 90 minutes and 8 great finds. It was an amazing experience and we will return very soon. read more

Top of the heap in Providence right now is this little spot, with reasonably priced new and used LPs of all stripes, and a knowledgable and cordial staff. I found what had to be the only unsold copy in the USA of an African LP reissue that I'd been seeking and that was just the tip of the ice berg. Not to be missed. read more

While waiting to go into dinner at Nick's On Broadway (not worth the hype & overpriced) I unexpectedly came across this wonderful little gem of a record store. Dave, whom I believe was the owner was incredibly charismatic, helpful and full of knowledge. He helped my find an old rap classic and when he played the song for my coworkers and I it turned into a dance party. I had to buy that record since it was a piece of nostalgia for me. GO THERE! I've been working in Prov for 13 years and never stopped in until yesterday. My loss. While I was searching the stacks three separate people stopped in with collections to sell. And what a great record selection they already have! And what an unbelievable amount of quality tuners, turntables, receivers, amps and speakers they have to get back into the vinyl scene again. My purchases? Jacked early Blues Project Live, Nils Lofgren-Grin, Primo John Mayall with serious sidemen like Clapton, Traffic's second album release with Dave Mason and Moondog Madness a Band rerelease.
