The store had a huge selection of comics and had an awesome time looking through all of them. The only problem was that a bunch of comics were in random boxes lying under the tables in which I actually found a few I liked. I wished the boxes were organized a bit better so I don't miss any comics I want. My personal favorite store to go to (in person OR on ebay) as a collector. They've got new things, are beyond reasonable with their prices, and are extremely helpful and patient. I've been going for years now, and there isn't a week I'm not stopping in there (despite my wife's displeasure) for more collectibles I've purchased. The ebay store is exceptional, but the in person nostalgic feel, along with a massive variety of games, CDs, records, comic books, figures, collectivles, etc it is THE PLACE TO GO. A+ read more

Stopped in one day with my kids to check out some games.. ended up picking a few oldies. Was a really nice place was pleasantly surprised to be greeted upon arrival. They gave three sections of the store the video fame section the vinyl section and lastly the comic section. Had a smaller toy section then I was expecting but it was fine. Bought my things and left. Unfortunately left my debit card behind didn't realize it till the next day. Had a mini heart attack was hoping and praying it was where I last used it. Called but they weren't open yet owner called back saying he had my card. That he'd put it aside for me. I really appreciated the honesty and the fact that he called me back. But overall it was a good experience and the prices I bought the games for were lower than I expected! So if your looking for a place with retro games and comics look no further! read more

Absolutely never going here again. I've frequented this shop for a while now. I walked in. It was 5 min before closing. I just wanted the issues I hadn't gotten for the week. Went right to the shelf. Grabbed what I wanted. No hesitation. Was reminded no less than 4 times "I am closing soon" within about 3 min. I bring my comics up and get told. "These are tomorrows releases I can't sell you these". Then why were they on the shelves? Put them up after you close or first thing when you open. The owner is always gruff and not friendly. He over priced his back issues then posts a discount. Exactly the pricing games Kohl's does for clothes. Never going back. This is the worst kind of shop. read more

Stopped by this place when I was in the area on business, and really liked it. Fantastic place for back issues of comics, and the vinyl section seemed on point. I visited particularly for video games, but unfortunately they didn't have a ton (I was specifically looking for original NES). The employees however, were delightful. The staff of Time Capsule are always a pleasure to deal with. The new comics, back issues & Wall books are always priced fairly and the random assortment of older and vintage collectibles and toys are awesome to browse. The staff is knowledgeable and hands on with what they do. They have a big selection of video games (that I have no clue about) and lots of record. Not usually a lot to choose from in my desired genres but there are lots to dig through. A negative interaction at another store prompted me to write this review so that everyone knows that Time Capsule is a good and friendly place to go!! read more

If you're looking for anything old-school it might be here. Impressive collection of music, video games, comics, movies and more. It's one of those stores you walk into and are a little overwhelmed by the amount of items at first sight. But, staff is knowledgeable and will point you in the right direction. Totally worth going. A wonderfully hidden, musty gem. My fiancee comes for the comics, I come for the old school games. There's a pretty decent collection of LPs as well as new comic releases. While unfortunately they don't happen to carry much of the comics I'm interested in, they have a relatively huge stack of Genesis/Nintendo games. I absolutely cannot help myself from snagging something every time I walk in there (ahem, attempting to buy back the collection my younger brother sold off on me years ago). The prices are actually pretty slammin'- I paid 7 bucks for a Metal Gear game including the box, etc that online sells for 50+ on Ebay. Very cool. So why the 3 stars instead of 4 I was originally intending? To put it bluntly, the customer service is less than stellar. Every time we've walked in, I've been given seriously uncomfortable vibes- the dudes behind the registers would be chattin it up with random guests meanwhile on the occasions Charlie and I were left alone in the room with them, there would be this oddball silence. No greeting, no "may I help you?," nothing. Nada. Not even acknowledgment we exist when we're obviously looking for some assistance. When I literally stand in front of someone and spell it out I'm given curt answers that make me squirm. Giant stores like IKEA and Walmart can totally get away with this sort of vibe, but in such a small store, it doesn't cut it. I'm not sure if I just caught them on a couple bad days (it can happen to anyone and I completely understand that) but it more than a little freaks me out. Every time we head off to the car I'm checkin myself out in the mirror for boogers or something. Not a cool feeling. Overall the store itself is fantastic with fair prices, good selection and lots of used goodies. I just wish the people who worked there were a little more friendly. read more

A fine multiple focus store with comics, games, LP's and toys! You will find walls filled up with recent comic releases including a lot of small publishers that you rarely see in other comic shops which is nice. I picked up a Rocky Point Park comic there once. Older comics get stuffed into a bag and filed away into their hugs selection of back issue boxes. The best part? 50% off most of those comics. And I am talking 50% off of the cover price, not an inflated price, I don't collect a lot of back issues but if I did this place would be like crack. The toys and collectables seem really well priced. I have picked up Star Wars toys here that were priced almost half of what the Toy Vault in the mall was asking. $10 for classic 12" Star Wars figures mint in the box? I am in. Huge, huge selection of graphic novels and they have a scaling discount for the more you buy but I find them to still be cheaper on amazon. They have a smaller room of LP's, CD's and cassettes. Some of the rarer LP's are expensive but the vast majority of them are $3, that is what I paid for my Empire Strikes Back LP in mint condition with all the inserts. Through the music room there is ANOTHER small room filled with video games. NES, SMS, Genesis, SNES, Jaguar, 2600, 7800, 5200, Intellivision, PS, PS2, PS3, XBox... you name it they have something for it. In addition to all that they have classic music posters, DVD movies, cards, magazines and more. In short, it is old school cluttered and packed with cool stuff. read more

Like most comic shops, this place suffers from the sin of elitism. The HILARIOUS thing is, the staff is so clueless about what they sell (from comics to vinyl) their elitist, "you don't really belong here attitude" comes off as ridiculously pathetic. Having been a comic book enthusiast all my life, and even having managed a comic shop for years, I know what the "crowd" is like. I can accept it...and usually that initial reception and "cold, I'm cooler than thou" attitude towards a new customer dissipates...NOT HERE! The only one WORTH chatting it up with is Rob, who does know the ropes and what he is talking about and doing...even if he is a little on the cheapskate, screw you over for a quarter side. If you've been into comics for years in the state of RI the best way I can describe it to you is: Rob is now the NEW Wayne, but Rob actually has a passion for comic books. Some others here have complained of damaged and poorly kept merchandise- I have noticed this as well too. The staff is clueless, unhelpful and actually WORST of all, UNWILLING TO HELP. They'll avoid ALL eye contact with you by any means necessary so you can't grab their attention unless you walk up to them with a huge stack of stuff to buy in your hand- or a baseball bat. I suggest the bat. I can't complain about the prices really except for the rare stuff which is way overpriced with both comics and vinyl...oh and what he offers to pay or trade if he's interested in something you have. The TPB/Graphic novel section is laid out poorly and confusing. I don't go on a regular basis anymore, and only when I am looking for something specific. It's been 50-50 so far whether they have it or not. Seriously, I switched my subscription list over to Newbury Comics and have yet to miss a book, and have even gotten a VARIANT here or there for COVER PRICE. The discount you get at Newbury is also much better. I believe Rob started offering a discount for the subscription books you pick up...but for nothing else. I WANT to LOVE this place, but I can't. Do you feel that? You know, the strong sudden urge to nerd-out... don't hold back, let your freak flag fly! The Time Capsule is everything you expect from a good comic shop. It's dark and kind of cluttered with a slightly stale smell. The rows are packed with bins of back issues while the newer comics are displayed on the outer walls. There are toys, collectables, LPs and old school video games. Got a hankering to save Sandy from the evil mad scientist? They've probably got a copy of Maniac Mansion lying around. The prices here are pretty great, I can go in with my "allowance" and have plenty of material for a perfect nerd night. The employees are super knowledgable and friendly, but give you space so you look around at your leisure. The space is pretty small so it can get a little cramped early Wednesday afternoons when the new releases are out. Brightly lit, well-stocked, and easily accessible. A great stop for the comics fan, as well as anyone interested in memorabilia and vintage records and games. My fiance and I stopped here to get acquainted and hopefully find a Birds of Prey trade paperback that was eluding us. The man behind the checkout (I'm pretty sure it was the owner) gladly offered to check for the book in their sister store in Seekonk, and when he came up with nothing he checked with the publisher and reported that the book was out of print. Very very helpful! They also have a pretty good discount, I believe it was 15% off a purchase of 3 or more paperbacks. Old single issues are 50% off! read more

Time Capsule Comics is a cornucopia of geek culture fun. When it comes to comics they cater to the reader, with a stellar collection of graphic novels/trade paperbacks (whatever you prefer to call them) and even discounts on them... The back issue bins for the collector,are always well stocked with a nice range of back issues all at 1/2 guide (even silver and bronze age books). His higher end stock has always been great, with at least one new assortment of nice silver and/or golden age books being put on the wall every week. For the record collector he has bins and bins of music from every genre imaginable and video game enthusiasts will surely find a game or 2 in the video game section. The customer service has always been top notch from where I'm standing and how I've seen them treat others. Always a friendly greeting from Bob and his staff members.The hours spent in there talking about comics, artists, and storylines have even gotten this Silver Age to 80s collector and reader, to read some newer titles.. I've been buying comics and toys from Bob since his old store in Warwick, and from him at conventions before that.... and will continue to do so. I may visit other comic shops from time to time, but neither myself or my girlfriend(who also collects comics and toys) have never been treated as fairly by a shop when it comes to purchases, large or small. read more

I like to go here at least once a week. I go for the old school games. This place has a way better selection than the toy vault. I always see new games that I have been trying to collect. Some people here are saying that the customer service is terrible. Do they walk up to you and say "hey can i help you find anything?" no, but you dont need someone to be in your face like that. I love how they let you look without bugging you. Most of the people who go in there are looking for something specific and know where it is. If you're an old school gamer, go here. read more

Out of the two Time Capsule locations this one is by far my favorite. I think they're selection of vinyl records are a lot better and they update their stock more often. The dollar record selections are pretty solid and their prices average between 3-8 bucks per record, unless it's the stuff up on the walls then it's a little more. The condition of their records, even the dollar ones, is really good. They have a huge selection of comic books and video games as well. Definitely a nice hidden gem in Rhode Island! read more

This is a good size store with something for every one . The prices are fair and new issue comic books (which i do not collect or buy ) are actually discounted for regular customers . Seems like nice thing to do for your customers . The employees tend to back off when you come in and let you search around without being hovered over . Unless you need help finding something then you'll get friendly help when requested . 2 employees / workers there are exemplary to mention . The first is the older gentlemen who sorts /prices books , this guy is very nice to talk and has great knowledge in collectibles . The second is the owner who goes out of his way to talk to little kids on there level and be friendly to them . Overall a great experience , you may find some stuff from your childhood that you want back . read more

Create selections and love having the records and video games as well. To be fair I'm only a book girl due to Joss Whedon and Buffy (I know- super limited) but I'm cool with that. Well organized, which I appreciate. And I've never had an issue with service, always helped when I needed it, including some pop items I was able to sell to them. I was not happy with my experience with the people at The Time Capsule. I am a writer of a small market comic book who was/is trying to promote the comics I have written. For this purpose, I contacted The Time Capsule, first to see if they would be interested in purchasing a copy of the book, and then later that year if they would be interested in setting up a signing with me at their store. Now I do want to state that I am not angry that they rejected either the signing or purchasing a copy. Business is business and times are hard. It is the way in which they rejected them that was insulting and rude. Both conversations were done over the phone. The conversations were each quick. Their reply was a quick "nope, not interested" followed by a bye and a hang up. We are all in the comic business, that is no way to treat a fellow enthusiast, especially a local one. read more

My sons are big you collectors, the staff accommodates them every time they come in by offering to check downstairs for new arrivals.
