I had been to this restaurant a couple of times in the past, many years ago, and we had ordered takeout food from this place 2-3 times during the pandemic. The food here is soooo good. It's especially good if you have a group of people dining with you. That way you can share different dishes and enjoy lots of different flavors. The Mixed Plate is especially good for that. I have seen from their menu online that they also offer something called Padisha's Table which requires a minimum of 4 adults ordering it, and costs $36 per person. For this visit we had the following: Beyti Sarma Small Mixed Plate Cheese Lovers Pide Lamb Durum Wrap Veggie Guvech Turkish Coffee Turkish Tea The Small Mixed Plate came with a humungous slab of lavash bread! It was crazy how big this piece of bread was. We were a group of 5 people and this Small Mixed Plate by itself could have been our lunch. It was such a huge piece of bread. Sooo good though. They baked it in the oven until it got all nice and puffy, and it came to our table piping hot. I always enjoy this Mixed Plate starter. It comes with such a nice variety of dips. My absolute favorite dip though is the Baba Ghannush. I think next time I eat at this restaurant, I will add on a separate order of the Baba Ghannush so I enjoy more of it than what comes in the Mixed Plate starter! I loved my Veggie Guvech. The veggies were roasted and baked to perfection. I'm someone who likes my food soft, so I was happy to find that the veggies in this dish were nice and soft. The menu description says that this dish comes with Lavash. I didn't see any more Lavash bread come other than the huge slab that came with our Small Mixed Plate. Perhaps they did this on purpose though. The one huge piece of bread is equivalent to several smaller pieces that you might get in other restaurants. I certainly didn't need anything more than the huge piece of bread we'd already been served, so was very glad not to see anything else come with my Veggie Guvech. If you're a cheese love, you can't go wrong with the Cheese Lovers Pide. It's our daughter's "go to" dish when we order from this restaurant. She really loves her cheese! The people who ordered Lamb Durum Wrap said the lamb inside their wraps was very moist and tender. I do recall also hearing good things about lamb dishes from this restaurant in the past, when we ordered takeout from them. The Turkish Coffee and Tea come in some beautifully designed cups. I have travelled to Turkey in the past and enjoyed a hot apple tea in a Turkish Tea cup. The cup that was used here was very much like the cup I drank from in Turkey. I never had coffee when I was in Turkey, but judging from how unique the design of the cup here was, it's probably a very traditional design for a Turkish coffee cup since the Turkish Tea cup was just like the ones I saw in Turkey. There are only a handful of Turkish restaurants in the Lower Mainland so it is great Anatolia's introduces us to the cuisine. We ordered the lamb guvech - roasted big chunks of tender lamb with mushrooms. It was tasty but just a bit too oily. It comes with the flat bread lavash and dipping yogurt. We also ordered the Turkish tea. It was disappointing as it just tasted like regular tea but it was a small cup and no refills and expensive for the small size and nothing special. read more

My friend took me to a lovely homey Turkish restaurant in Burnaby this weekend. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Didn't make a reservation but walked in around 5:30pm and no problem getting a table for two. In reviewing their menu: lots of nice appetizers, complete dishes (some include the lavash bread and others do not so read carefully), pizza and a small selection of no-alcoholic drinks. We ordered the Chicken Iskender and Incik (Lamb Shank) and both meats were cooked well but I enjoyed the lamb the most - flavourful and so tender that the meat just fell off the bone effortlessly. The Lamb Shank included the lavash bread and both dishes served with salad and rice. I found the flavours not as intense as Lebanese or Persian grilled meats but equally enjoyed. The portions were huge and absolutely loved the freshly baked lavash bread with yogurt dip - just heavenly and the best I've eaten around town. We were stuff and couldn't finish everything on our table and we came hungry. To finish off our wonderful meal, we ordered 2 Turkish teas. Upon leaving my friend bought 2 pieces of the baklavas for take-away. OMG, perfect in sweetness and so flakey compared to the Greek style. Totally coming back for this on my next visit. Price, portion size, service and the lavash bread won me over so, yes, I'll be back as soon as possible. I have been here a couple of times. This is the first time having thr Iskebder beef kabob. The beef was a little dry for me so a sauce on top would have been alleviating. The side Salads like the pickled beads and carrot Salads were nice and refreshing. The lavash bread, because of the size was nice and entertaining. It was by far my favorite item. It was hot, freshly made and the texture was chewy with a little crunch in the edges and served with a creamy garlic sauce. I could have eaten this huge serving to myself and been satisfied as my meal. I like to end with dessert so I had ordered the kunafah in hopes with would bring back my nostalgia from when I had it in Israel. Unfortately fell short for me, as I feel it should have been crisper and more syrup. But I could be wrong since I've only had it once before. Came here to break fast last night. They close at 9 but we called ahead of time and they advised they could accommodate as long as we come in a certain time, so that was an awesome option. We received exceptional service by the staff and it was great appreciated. We were hungry but started with the Lavash bread with some hummus and babaghanoush and everything was delicious!!! Best Lam chops ever for an even better price. I've been coming to this restaurant for the last 10 years and although it changed owners, it has kept true to its recipes. They have a great lentil soup, cheese pizza, cheesy mushroom dish, and pita style wraps, but I come for their Lamb Chops dish which hits the culinary spot!. One of the most wonderful dish is their Lavash bread. It's a hand made pita-type bread that is baked in their stone oven and brought to your table warm. They pair that with a great Tzatziki garlic sauce that elevates the taste. I dare you to come in to try that and not want to come back again. Just that alone is enough to keep my friends coming back. It's also what they use for their Pizza and pita wraps which is why they taste so good. As for my favorite Lamb Dish. It's usually cooked well, with a slight crisp on the fattier sides which gives it a great crunch to the bite and still juicy. This is also cooked in their stone oven as all their food is. They flavour it perfectly with their own mixture of salts and herbs. The Lamb Chops is served with Rice, salad, pickled cabbage which helps cut the fatty tastes and a creamy carrot salad. All great components of the meal. I'll add that they have an in-house made hot sauce that is very tasty with a good amount spice. Not too hot that I can't taste my food, just right. Came across Anatolia's while browsing lunch options on SkipTheDishes and glad that I ordered food from here. While many restaurants (apart from fast food joints) are closed during lunch time due to the times we are living in, Anatolia's was open and doing delivery! I ordered the Chicken Iskender and Meat Lovers Pide. To my surprise, it came with complimentary Lavash bread. The chicken was tender, not at all dry and cooked to perfection. It paired well with the side salads. I have not tried the Pide before and this was so tasty! Overall, I was absolutely satisfied with the quality and portion of the food. Chill restaurant with a few seats so no need to make a reservation but you could if you want to. Clean and simple decor but homey. Pretty quiet place and the volume doesn't go to loud. The customers are a mix of different ethnic groups so it's not just their own people. Street parkings around the area (paid and non-paid). I'm usually very happy to find Turkish restaurants that serve more than street food, but this one was rather underwhelming and a disappointment in general. The baked lavash bread was great, but the chicken kabob left a lot to be desired. It tasted very off like the meat was spoiled and not properly marinated and cooked either. The steamed white rice with it was very boring, as were the side salads. They seemed to use canned pitted green olives to top a dip appetizer. That's a huge miss compared to typical delicious Turkish olives. Service was ok, but they didn't refill the tea I ordered even once. The ambiance was simple but fine, but without great food, the entire experience was lackluster and not worth coming back to. A good bang for your buck! Not sure if this is the case with every order, but the two times I've been here we have ordered two iskender plates which came with a freshly baked lavash bread. The bread is amazing, it's very difficult to stop yourself from eating it all in one sitting, but remember to save some space for your mains! We ended up with plenty leftover to take home for another meal. The restaurant ambience could be better (it's a bit dingy inside and no music, place is quiet), but this place has been open forever so they must be doing something right. I've only ever gotten pizzas from here as my partner has particular dietary restrictions, but it's very good and not too badly priced. Fresh out their big fancy oven, the crust is fluffy and chewy (in a good way) and the cheese is a simple but delicious melty mix. Dips are good too. The Wood oven is beautiful and the Turkish lavash bread is so delicious and fun to share. I prefer the dishes that are cooked in the oven. The sides are colourful and delicious. Hands down and consistently equivalent to travelling to Turkey without leaving home, this restaurant really never disappoints. Starting with just walking in, one is immediately welcomed by the staff, which along with appearing very professional, appear to be authentic. One is also graced with seeing the wood fire oven in use, with which all of the delicious food is made. The service is prompt, the food tastes fresh and is made directly in front of the guests. May I recommend for a starter, to try the fresh baked Lavash (in your choice of white or whole wheat) with fresh hummus or Tzatziki as you will be sold on this Eastern European cuisine. While there, one must also try their Turkish coffee, preferably with dessert as the bitterness of the coffee pairs well with the sweetness of the desserts. The coffee is strong but authentic and won't burn a hole through your stomach as it is quality coffee. One caution I will give is not to go for that last sip as you will be greeted with the finely ground coffee grounds. Just a pro tip from having done it a few times :) The prices appears high but the dishes are meant to be shared so when though of it that way, it makes sense and is not excessive. The restaurant is clean and COVID friendly. The ambiance, music and decor lets one imagine they are actually in Turkey. Really I have no complaints and will return every chance I get. read more

Oh, I wish I saw Marc D.'s review before going because I wouldn't have ordered the lamb. I too, thought it was pieces of lamb, but it was grilled liver chunks. Not a fan. The Meat Lover's pide was tasty, but I don't think it was $11 tasty. To be honest, I expected a bit more meat. This may be how pieds are made, but when I hear meat lovers, I expected Meat Galore! We went to eat Lahmacun today Wednesday July 5th and the lahmacun was burnt and barely had any meat and tasted like cardboard. When I spoke to the guy he said nothing no apology and did not offer to adjust the bill we paid $40 for 3 bites of it. It was so bad we could not eat it. We will not be going back save your money as they did not care about the quality of their food. We would go there often before but it has gone downhill in 2023? On my latest meal I ordered the chicken shish platter. We waited for a table for a bit and were seated at one by the window near the front. Minutes later I look closely at the window sill and I see ANTS hard at work. Umm.. ANTS issue aside (hint: I won't be returning), I will give the following positive feedback: 1st star - fresh lavash bread. Turkish version of naan kind-of. Turkish food is pretty rare in this city and this place is a real gem. Found Anatolia's Gate randomly a few years ago and have been back several times with friends, family and coworkers. The service is very good and the food is consistently flavourful. This is a great place for groups of at least 4, as you can share the lavish bread and a appie or two (Meat Pied is delicious). My favourite dish is the chicken iskender. It's the most tender and flavourful chicken. The spices are very unique. The portions are quite large and you will definitely not go home hungry. Really anything you order is made fresh, right in the kitchen in front of you. It's an affordable, filling meal. If I lived closer, I would come here more often. Take out review. I'll start with the good. The bread. Even though it wasn't hot out of the oven given it was take out, it was still fresh and enjoyable. The rest wasn't great. Had the beef curry, lamb shank, and sausage appetizer. Sausage appetizer: thin slices of cured sausage baked on slices of tomato and lemon, not terrible. Beef curry: dry, small pieces of beef with a bland curry sauce thrown over it. Plain rice, plain greens, and pickled cabbage with not much more then vinegar and salt. There was another bland grated carrot side salad as well, that couldn't distinguish itself from being a proper side salad, or an Indian style carrot halwa, which doesn't do it any justice. Lots of components made the meal as a whole okay, but individually all done without much effort. Lamb shank: same side components so nothing to add there. Lamb shank in itself... I have never seen or tasted a more bland looking and tasting shank. It was tender, that was about it. It was honestly sad to see the negligence put into such a nice piece of meat. Again, the different components combined together save the meal, barely. Also came with a side of yogurt sauce, okay in flavour, but as runny as half and half. Considering I had been there a year before with a much different (positive) opinion of the food, this was disappointing. read more

The ambience of Anatolia's is okay but can definitely use improvements. The food is impressive. The fresh bread tasted really good. The price for what we got wasn't really what I was expecting. Definitely on the expensive side for what they're serving. The restaurant is fairly dirty and definitely needs a good mop. Their sides are impeccable - the rice, the salads, the dips, the lavash and even the simplest yogurt dip is the best I have had in town. However their meat is a different story- either they are cooking it till it dies twice ( because it's that dry) or they have cooked it, froze it and microwaved it to order. The marinades are old too because you can taste it when you eat it. The weekends are slighter better I would say but still they are just literally killing those meats, which btw should be star on the plate. It's a shame because with that wood burning oven they can pretty much do anything they want other than just heating sauces and precooked food. read more

Sadly, we should have listened to that one comment that said the reviews of this place are overrated. I'm not gonna go into detail about the interior, there's nothing much to expect. Its plain, simple, dated. The service was mediocre at best, but I'd like to give the guy the benefit of the doubt. He looked exhausted and must have been there since opening. The place was empty when we walked in. As soon as we were seated, water was brought to our table. Based on the photo from 2015, it looked like the menu hasn't been updated since then. We were served lavash bread and tzatziki sauce along with the meat hide we ordered as our appetizer, two of which were the only things we liked out of everything served. For our main we had ordered the Lamb Tandur, Lamb chops and Mixed Kabob all of which were greasy and the flavouring was lacklustre. The chops were though and chewy, the kabob was dry and some of the tandur pieces were salty and some of them with no little to no salt at all. The accompaniments were strange, more of an acquired taste I'd presume. The meal was definitely not worth the buck. read more
