The small signage and minimal advertising is a perfect juxtaposition to the sensational quality you'll find inside. As a frequent donair customer i take pride in exploring and being well versed in the best of the best around. This is the best I've come across so far! I went for a large chicken lamb, meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Sauces were fresh and flavourful and not too heavy or light. Veggies were all very fresh and real, none of that subway tomato bullsh!t I was also very pleasantly surprised to see their onions had some kind of peppering or seasoning as well. I like the chicken platter and that you can choose the size. The regular is filling for me. I like that you can choose your sauce and I recommend the tzatziki over the hummus. The baklava is also decent though I will like it better if they use crushed pistachios instead of walnut. The place is not very big, with a bar counter and 2 tables for dining in. This is the best falafel I have ever tasted - and I tend to order falafel quite often. I have even had falafel in Israel and this falafel is still the best I have ever had. The flavour is perfect and the texture is as well: fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. I always order the large falafel platter which is excellent value for your money. The rice is so good too. I have introduced 3 friends to this place and two are in agreement that this is the best falafel. The 3rd friend is more of a shwarma guy. Highly recommend! read more

Delicious food at a very competitive price! I usually have the small size chicken shawarma platter, and it's always plenty of food for dinner. The large size would probably be dinner and lunch for me. The shawarma wrap is also a full meal, and makes a nice, big snack for two people if you cut it in half. I really love that this place has garlic sauce as a condiment. (I believe it's called toum?) It really makes the meal for me. Now if only they would start having cilantro available, I would be in heaven. They had it ONCE when I went in, but only the one time, and now I pine for cilantro with my shawarma platter every time. The one thing I could potentially dock this place points for is how slooow the line moves when you're waiting to place your order. But I don't think it's their fault, I think it's just the nature of the cuisine. However, do be warned: if there's a lineup of even four or five people ahead of you, you'll probably be waiting a good while. read more

It has pickled turnips, basmati rice, Greek salad, probably 2 chicken breasts worth of slow roasted chicken and Greek salad with hot sauce and tzatziki. It's about $13.99 and will feed you for a day ! Portions are huge. The only thing I don't like is the pita but it's not needed. It's family run and fast . You will have to stand in a line but reminds me of the best delis in New York that move quickly and are so loved that they are never not busy. Try this place even if what you feel like is Greek. This is an amazing donair place. It's a family-owned business right across the street from Royal City Centre. The donair here is AMAZING. To start, the owners are very nice and very efficient. The store is small, which means there is only a row of seats with a small table. In the summer, the shop gets very hot inside (not sure how the owners cope with this), so I would actually prefer to eat outside. I tried the regular size beef and lamb donair, and because the veggies and condiments are displayed right before your eyes, you can choose to customize what you get (while also seeing how much veggies they actually put in the donair... a lot). The meat was full of flavor and very tender. The prices are very reasonable for the large portion size given (a full meal for under $10). The platters are slightly more expensive but I imagine those to be extremely filling. read more

One of the best donairs I have ever had. It was Fresh fresh fresh!!!! The beef/lamb was juicy and fresh with a nice char on all the pieces, unlike Donair Star, Zaaki's meat was actual juicy slices with flavour. Every single component of the donair was fresh, hummus, tazikii, tabbouleh, tomatoes lettuce, onions and the best part for me was the hot peppers all toasted in a panini press that when you bite into it there is a slight crunch. While we were there was a constant never ending flow of people coming in and out at 3:00 pm. Go out of your way to come here as your standards for donair will change for the better. read more

This has become a new regular for me and my husband and a place i always take my family for lunch when they come to visit. Recently i got the small falaffel plate to share with my mom along with the lentil soup. Let me tell you, this plate was far from "small" great tp share. Comes with tabbouli salad, hummus, veggies, (the most delicious) rice and 4 crispy melt in your mouth falaffels. The lentil soup is a little different than what im used to. Definitely a meal in itself as it comes with little noodles in it and pita chips to the side. Still a comfy soup for a cold winters day. Though the place is small and hard to squeeze into during lunch hour definitely would say its a great "Bang For Your Buck" hole in the wall. read more

While I waited for my falafel platter to be fried, yes fried, not microwaved, actually fried to order. I was chatted with the Owners, they decided they had to open a restaurant because his wife's cooking was way better than anything they'd had in BC. While I was waiting for my food we had a lengthy conversation about breakfast food, he told me they eat falafel for breakfast, I told him that I was too Canadian to consider any food without a side of eggs breakfast. Then I tried the falafel and I reconsidered my stance on breakfast foods. I would totally eat this falafel for 3 meals a day. I'm not sure that I can go back to 3am street corner donair after eating here. I had the tabouli, baba ganoush and hummus on my plater, they were all amazing. Everything on the platter from the onions to the rice was perfectly seasoned and made with love. The major stand out for me(besides the falafel) was the pickles(I'm assuming they were homemade) they were so salty and juicy I could have easily eaten the entire container. Also, it was really, really clean. Amazing food, super nice people, clean kitchen. Definitely will eat here again, maybe tomorrow. read more

I have been twice, the first time just before christmas I had a mixed platter (beef and chicken) today I had the chicken platter. I had the yogurt cucumber sauce and tabbouleh and added onions, tomatoes and lettuce along with the garlic sauce, hot sauce and another white sauce I am not quite sure what it's made of. The platter comes with rice and a pita. The portion is really good value, I split mine in half so I get two meals out of it. Everything is fresh and the chicken is rich and tender. The food is delicious and the couple who run the place are always delightful, friendly and polite and they remembered us from our first visit. That kind of customer service is what makes or breaks places like this. The onions have sumac on them, it's a deep red coloured spice, it gives them a lemony flavour and helps to take away the raw taste. I also got a side of hummus to go, homemade and smooth with a tangy lemon on top, much higher quality than anything I can get at a super market. I haven't tried the baking yet but there was a cake today that looked really moist and sweet. Next time. The place is small with two tables if you want to eat there, you can see how clean the place is. All around a great place. read more

I probably hit the jackpot for Mediterranean food while lingering around New West for the first time. It was by far the best chicken platter I've had since living in Vancouver, BC. Now granted, I am only comparing it to UBC but I highly doubt that it gets any better than this. The chicken was juicy, rice was light, and the hummus was creamy and smooth.
