What an excellent experience; I had an emergency when the pump on my 125 gallon freshwater aquarium died and no doubt the stars were aligned in my favor when I contacted Noel who assured me he'd do the best he could under the circumstances and that I'd be hearing from him or his partner Hal shortly. Lo and behold within a very short period of time Hal rushed over to my Brooklyn residence and immediately assessed the problem and resolved it in a most courteous and professional manner. Not only that, he corrected several technical concerns regarding hose/clamp replacements; one of which was quite necessary and he also resolved some other issues in another smaller aquarium I have that needed to be addressed; they were successfully remedied. I was also instructed on how better to maintain my aquariums. I have a small 50 gallon saltwater aquarium that had an algae problem. After multiple attempts at trying to remedy my problem from advice on message boards, I decided I needed some professional help. A friend recommended Anchor Aquarium. Noel was great! He recommended I change my substrate and swap out my nitrate sponge. BOOM! 1 month later and the tank is clearing out nicely! Can I give six stars please?? When I moved in, I inherited a small backyard pond, as well as five inches of muck at the bottom of it. The pump finally gave out during the "polar vortex", and by the time I found anchor aquarium service, my fish were gasping at the surface. I felt like an abusive fish mother. I'd searched for months for a pond expert, but instead all I found were landscapers that happened to also service ponds. With Noel you not only get pond construction and maintenance knowledge, but a marine biology background, and an aesthetic sensibility. Noel replied within a few minutes of my sending a "cry for help" email. And that kind of responsiveness and service has continued to the present day. He truly is the "Pond Doctor." He not only cleaned out the pond, he designed and built a filter customized for my pond. He also cleverly rearranged a few rocks so the mechanicals are hidden, and gave the fish more hiding places from the notorious neighborhood raccoon. In essence, he made the pond better than it ever was before, both aesthetically and functionally. The water is crystal clear, the fish are happy, and I am thrilled! read more

I had a 92 gallon corner tank that had been collecting dust for a year and I seriously wanted to begin building a saltwater reef aquarium. I found Noel's flyer in a local neighborhood deli about 9 months ago. I proceeded to contact him and we had a lengthy conversation from which I left confident that he was the man for the job. 9 months later he's built me a marvelous reef tank and is constantly coming by our office for maintenance and upkeep. What I learned most is that the guys in local pet stores are somewhat misguided and unseasoned in their knowledge of what it takes to set up a reef tank. The store from which I purchased the tank nearly 2 years ago did not give me any of the necessary equipment (and some incorrect parts) to run and maintain a healthy reef tank. Not only will he build you a pristine aquarium, he'll fill your head with tons of scientific knowledge about the oceanic environment. I've since referred him to one of my friends.
