I normally don't leave reviews, but after years of trying to resolve this privately, I feel this needs to be documented. I started a multi session tattoo with Cole in 2018. This was not a one time appointment. It was an ongoing piece that required multiple sessions to complete. The shop's public response claimed there were repeated issues with cancellations and deposits over "5 years," but after recovering the full timestamped message history, that claim simply does not match the record. The messages show: * Multiple confirmed appointments and continued sessions * Only two cancellations on my end, both with notice and accepted at the time * A cancellation by Cole in 2020 one week before a scheduled appointment * Repeated attempts from me between 2018 and 2021 to finish the tattoo At no point did I abandon the project. I repeatedly reached out to continue and complete the work, including coordinating while living in St. George and willing to drive 4 hours for appointments. The tattoo remains unfinished, and I've now been told no resolution or compensation will be offered. I have since consulted another artist and will have to pay approximately $1200 to complete and correct the work. This review is not about being denied future service. It's about being left with an unfinished multi session tattoo after years of documented attempts to complete it. All of this is supported by timestamped messages and direct communication with the shop owner. read more

They took my ideas, pushed them further, and created work that exceeded what I imagined. I'm grateful for their skill and the whole team's welcoming atmosphere. read more

Charles Bogus gave my sister and I sister tattoos and he was a gem! I am a big whiner and sissy when I get tattooed and whines, cursed and swore for an hour straight while he tattooed me. He was so cool and patient with my sorry self. He was grateful I wasn't moving my leg while I was complaining. LOL!! I'm in love with the work he did! I was pointed to Ironclad after Anchor didn't have any slots for walkins and was directed to Krystal. To start, the location and facility are top notch and very welcoming. The atmosphere was incredibly comfortable and all the artists and clientele were also very approachable. For my first tattoo, Krystal worked with me to solidify my design and I'm glad I listened. She was incredibly kind and very detail oriented, as well as fair on pricing. She also squeezed in my girlfriend before her next app and helped designed her tattoo as well! Overall I had a great experience and would highly recommend Krystal for any work, and based off the conversations with other artists and seeing their work I bet you can't really go wrong with anyone here. read more

Charles Bogus did my tattoo. It was also my first tattoo. He made the whole process very easy and he was very helpful in making my first tattoo experience go smoothly and comfortably. He was great in answering my questions and concerns. The shop was very nice and clean. All of the other artists were very friendly. Everyone seemed very interested in what the other artists were doing and working together to make the best tattoos. He was able to turn my reference material into a really badass tattoo as well. Came here with two other friends as a thing to do to kill time before dinner and I'm so glad we did. Me and another friend were the ones getting tattooed. Since it was on the spot we didn't have appointments, but they take walk ins. All the other artists were with customers already so we had the pleasure of getting tatted by the boss himself and couldn't have asked for a better person to kill time with. Steve tippetts is the owner of the shop and he took us right on the spot. Me and my friend were getting two small things done in honor of her battle with cancer. Steve was so awesome with the whole situation and made us feel comfortable from the very beginning (friend was nervous). Not only did he do a great job on the tats (there's a reason he has 20+ years in the business and is a "go to") his customer interaction is the highlight of the experience. During the whole time we laughed and swapped stories and he made us feel at home. We def will come back next time we come to SLC. Thanks Steve for making our trip from California to Utah amazing. Also the girl at the desk is great too. She welcomes you right when you get in and makes you feel at ease. Also has jokes for days! read more

Let me tell you what a big sigh of relief I let out when I saw the tattoo I got today. I suffered a really hard miscarriage in late August of 2013, and I knew that I had to get some sort of memorial tattoo that I would have with me forever. I thought about the design nonstop while I was recovering, when I noticed that my lower body had started to resemble a Kewpie doll. I knew instantly that I wanted a Kewpie doll, and I just needed someone to do it. I am an INCREDIBLY impatient person, so I was willing to take the first appointment available. I called into Ironclad on a Saturday, and the receptionist was super nice and recommended Nate D. for my tattoo. I set my appointment for that Tuesday, then asked where I could see his portfolio. He didn't have one ready, as he had just moved here from California. This REALLY worried me due to the importance of this tattoo, but I decided to put my faith in Nate. Let me tell you, that was 100% the right decision to make. Nate was super professional and made sure that everything was perfectly placed and drawn before he would even tattoo me. He listened to everything that I wanted, and did not try to force his ideas on me like other tattoo artists have. I confirmed I wanted what he had drawn up, and we got started. I won't lie, getting a tattoo on the back of your leg hurts like a mofo, but what else do you expect from a tattoo? Nate was super nice and checked on me regularly. If I needed any breaks, he was more than willing to give me moments of peace. It was a really pleasant experience for me. On top of his kindness and professionalism, he was super personable and funny. If you end up going to Nate D. ask him to do his southern belle accent for you. You won't regret it. He had to stop tattooing me, that is how hard I was laughing. I was expecting to be in the chair for at least 90 minutes (was not excited for that), but Nate had me out in 45. I don't know how much longer I could have laid there, so that was appreciated. Now onto the finished result. I am MORE than happy with Nate D's work. My tattoo is absolutely adorable, and I cannot think of a better way to remember the child I never got to meet. The shop itself is super cool, and seemed really clean. All of the other artists that checked out my fresh tattoo were super nice as well, so I'm sure they'd provide a good experience as well. I was Nate's second tattoo after moving to Utah, and I hope he gets many more clients. I know I'll be back for sure! read more

Long overdue in this review but I had to create an account months after my visit just to brag on these guys for a minute! I gave Cory Harris (@poisonedwizard) a general idea of what I wanted for a tattoo and let him take total creative control from there. As a result I got an incredible sugar skull piece that absolutely exceeded my expectations and gets compliments on the reg. It has healed well and I'm stoked to see it every day. The entire staff was exceptionally kind-hearted, the shop was very clean, and I've never felt more relaxed and welcomed in a tattoo studio. I highly recommend this place for anyone seeking a tattoo in Salt Lake City. If I'm ever back in the area this will be the place I return to! Cheers guys! read more

Paid a lot for a tattoo that faded with in a week. Called about it and was told I would have to pay the full price for them to touch it up. Bull shit because almost no tattoo shops charge for a touch up! Don't go here especially with a million other shops that takes better care of their clients. read more

We went to this place on a referral. We kept up our end of the deal, Nate did not. We took time to go for a consult. We paid our deposit. We showed up 10 minutes early for our appointment time, and at that point we were told that someone else was in Nate's chair. We were told there would not be enough time to do my boyfrined's tat, even if we waited. I got my deposit back and walked out. Poor, poor business. We were very inconvenienced and no one cared. Charles Bogus is freaking amazing! I don't know who this Ryan D. Is but he is completely false and probably just whining because he has nothing better to do. Charles is outstanding. He has done several of my tattoos and each of them were superbly done. So so beautiful. Charles is kind, charges fairly and is brilliant at what he does. I am very impressed with Ironclad.
