All this after having to listen to a staff member being rude to a fellow worker. When we were leaving the response was that the cleaner went home early! One staff member followed us out to apologize not like the colleague who was rudely yammering to her colleague. We followed up with a call and email and received a sorry. That too is not appropriate. A refund or something to try to make up for the disgusting state of the non sanitary change room would be an attempt to make things right. Sad situation caution on the change room conditions and less than satisfactory excuses.

Truly…read more We were in Nova Scotia for our honeymoon trip and had only planned the first couple of days and the last couple as well - leaving a bit of room in the middle for spontaneity. An internet search brought us to Oceanstone, which seemed like the perfect place to stay as we also wanted to check out Peggy's Cove too. We were lucky enough to secure one night and totally fell in love with the resort, pretty much at first sight. We had put in our booking comments that we were on our honeymoon, hoping we might get a really nice room. We were so pleasantly surprised to walk up to the kitchen in our super cute private cottage and find a lovely bottle of wine along with handmade, outrageously delicious sea salt caramels and a hand written note. To the resort, perhaps a small gesture but to us, it really make our stay that much more special. We really enjoyed our night's stay in our private cottage, which was just set behind the main lodge. The cottage was quaint, clean, and well appointed. We loved our small balcony just outside the living room area, we enjoyed our coffees out there in the morning. The bed was also super comfy too, like a cloud. We loved it there so much we inquired about staying a second night however sadly the resort happened to be fully booked for a wedding party the days immediately following our stay. We ended up eating at the restaurant on their property, Rhubarb, three times in just 2 days - it was so good. We enjoyed an early dinner when we first arrived, then ordered pizza as a "later" night snack then ordered take out the next day for dinner from the next cottage resort we ended up staying at just down the road. We also took a couple of lovely, calm walks along the ocean front during our stay which was so nice. The property is stunning and it feels like you are in another part of the world completely. Looking forward to someday returning again!

The front desk staff were polite, but they weren't exactly handing out "happy to see you" vibes. Our room was comfortable, but housekeeping could use a little more attention. We found some debris on the carpet, a few spider webs in the corners, and a dead bug in the bathroom towel door. Nothing that ruined our stay, but enough to notice. We had a burgers and a house salad at the restaurant, and it was fresh and tasty. The only surprise was the price--$14 for what felt like a small handful of greens. I guess the lettuce had an ocean view too! Overall, we were happy with our stay because of the fantastic location and would consider coming back. With a friendlier welcome and a bit more attention to room cleaning, this place could easily earn another star.

The gift certificate was already paid for so eventually, she did let us in. We went to the blues show on Saturday night which had a buffet. It was the worst buffet and the worst tasting food I have ever eaten! The bands that played were great but they only played to about 50 people because that was messed up too. The room was ok but they did not have any wine glasses or products that they normally have in rooms. They had this tiny little round coffee machine that I've never seen before and we had to figure out how to use that. All in all for $518.00 we certainly did not get what we paid for. The only other positive thing I have to say is the bed was comfortable and we had a good sleep.

What a great place to stay and brunch!…read more It is a lovely old house on the main street of Lunenburg. It has a fantastic balance of old and new: - lovely antique furniture, floor coverings, exquisite old light fixtures, etc. - exercise room, high speed internet, business centre, flat screen TV + DVD player in the room. We were blown away by the small touches as the modern stemware in the rooms, updated bathrooms and complementary chocolates on the bed. The bed was a dream to sleep on, once the pillows were cleared and stacked in the corner:-) Nice light cozy comforter on the bed. Now for breakfast - simply fantastic! Cold buffet with solomon gundy, smoked salmon, cheeses, etc.. A bread stack that included fresh from the oven croissants. We went with the a la carte eggs benedict - and don't let them give you the back bacon - go for the smoked salmon option - yummmmmm!!! We will definitely be going back. The question is only whether it will be another mid-winter, off season fantastically priced get-away or a full priced mid-summer Lunenburg folk festival week? Not to be missed!

The beds were very comfortable and they even included complementary chocolates which were a nice treat. There were two TVs, one in the bedroom and one in the living area. They also had a fireplace in the bedroom and in the living area as well as a stereo alarm clock. We went to the continental breakfast in the morning which we really enjoyed. There was a nice selection of simple breakfast foods such as smoked salmon, cheese, toast with jams, muffins etc. You should definitely check this place out if you're looking to stay in Lunenburg.

I just saw my first real live bedbug! In room [redacted]. It just crawled across my lap. I killed it, but now everything feels itchy. The Front Desk isn't answering. I guess they're saving money by understaffing, and he was off doing something else. Maybe they should give him a cordless phone. I'm also disappointed that management can only be reached by email, and may or may not get back to the front desk within a day or two. To the front desk man's credit, he did find some diatomaceous earth, and let me bring it back to treat my room! we shall see how the bedbug saga plays out. I'm going to be furious if I end up taking them back with me and investing my own place. When I got here, there was a big stain on the floor. They allow pets, which I appreciate, but apparently they don't clean up after them. Kinda gross. The breakfast are nutritious, and filling. All the staff has been pleasant, and relatively nice, although the housekeeper grilled me repeatedly on what room I was in, just so I could have a couple of bottles of water (the tapwater here taste like it came out of a swim pool) and some more hand cream. Weird. Are they going to charge me for asking for more of the stuff that comes with every room, just because I'm staying here for a week?? I'm actually using LESS per day of everything, and I haven't even asked the housekeepers to come in once since I've been here. And I haven't gotten a single discount for multiple days. I'm paying full price for everyone of my seven days. The AC/heat appears to be some kind of industrial mini split, and there appears to be no way to leave the fan running, so that it just maintains the same noise in the room. Yeah, I could turn the thing completely off, but then it either gets bitterly cold, or swelteringly hot. The constant on off on off on off on off on off on off all night wakes me up repeatedly, although, it's a battle between that, and the loud TVs, fighting lovers, yelling people, and occasional dog barking for who wakes me up the next round. If it weren't for the bedbugs, I'd probably go three stars on this. I don't really know if you can blame a hotel for bedbugs. Anybody could've brought them in. It just kind of freaks me out, despite that I know they're not that big of a deal, particularly just one. It's really the possibility of infecting MY place that gives me the willies.
