In a hotel that is objectively massive, they treated us like we were the only people there even though they had hundreds of guests. There were many amenities in this hotel that we did not have time to try, but we saw a lot of guests heading to the bar, restaurant or fitness center. The rooms and bathrooms were clean, quiet and comfortable, but a little bit tight and I'm average size. The location is outstanding. We walked down to the boardwalk one day and took advantage of the boat tours. Many coffee locations and restaurants are within a few blocks as well. Parking is pricy, but we used the Indigo Neo lot that is adjacent to the Westin lot and paid $54 CAD for a week.

He said he would send someone around 9am to fix it. There was a wedding at the hotel and our room was on the 3rd floor over the ballroom. Called down to front desk and they said would ask them to lower the volume of the music. The loud booming from the base kept us up for hours. Got back from our tour around 130pm thinking we would take a quick nap to catch up on some needed sleep, but there was a maintenance man in our room and he said he needed to go get a different safe and replace the one in our room. No nap! Would have given this hotel 1 star, but the employees are nice and the hotel is clean. Our experience was just a bad one.

The kind desk person got me a lakefront room even though the reservation didn't technically say so. They went out of their way to be accommodating and I appreciated it. The lake is beautiful and worth the stay on that side. Beds were comfy with lots of pillows. Body wash, shampoo, and conditioner are provided in the shower in pump bottles. Breakfast is included for hotel guests and offered a variety of hot and cold food options. The breakfast seating area is large, and there is an outdoor deck with tables if the weather cooperates. Everything was clean and the coffee was good. The pool area was clean and I had it to myself for most of the time I used it. There was an arcade on the same floor which I wanted to use (air hockey!) but I ran out of time. There is free parking and it was a short drive into Halifax. It's close enough to the city but far enough out to be quiet and relaxing. I would definitely return.

Service was nice and the hotel had an old world elegance that was very charming. It did show its age and the elevators were easily overwhelmed. I might try a newer hotel if we returned to Halifax but all in all we were very happy with our choice.

On our most recent trip to Halifax, we stayed at the Lord Nelson for 3 nights. We paid $199 a night. It's an older hotel with some retro charm. Like they have postal service to mail out letters. On each floor by the elevator there's a mail slot. You stick your letter in the mail slot and it travels down a chute into the main mailbox that I'm assuming the mailman empties periodically. I don't really know who would send snail mail these days from a hotel room, like maybe a postcard to your grandma, but I thought it was cool. The lobby also looks like it's from older times and they have doormen dressed in old fashioned doormen outfits greeting people at the door. The standard rooms are very small. We only had a Queen bed, a desk with chair, another chair, 2 side tables, a mini fridge and a TV. No microwave. We had a kettle and a Nespresso machine though. The bathroom is extra tiny. There's hardly any counter space. It's functional, but you definitely don't want to hang out there too much. We were out and about and just used the room for sleeping and showering so it suited us fine for this trip. There's no breakfast included. But they do have a restaurant attached called The Arms. We did not eat there but perused the menu and it looked rather frou-frou and pricey to me. The guest toiletries at this hotel are from Lather, a company in Pasadena California. I liked the shampoo and conditioner. The scent was bamboo and lemongrass. The location is very convenient. It's on South Park St very close to Spring Garden Rd. It's by the Public Gardens and not far from The Citadel. It's close to many restaurants and shops. I would stay there again. (147)

Part 1- I was an hour late (2pm) showing up to the baby shower due to my job. I approached the counter with my ID and Vax papers, showed it to a woman at the counter and asked where the party is. She informed me it was on level C when you go in the elevator. Part 2- Around 3:30 (party ends at 4) this woman with the rudest tone says "where's your bracelet?!, how did you get in?!" I, very politely said Part 1. She goes on about how that is not possible because herself and another lady were the ONLY two people working. While both of them are standing at the baby shower (I'm guessing customers were checking themselves in alone) I walk over to my table to grab my information to show her again. As I'm walking I said "you know, you could of approached me in several ways and asked nicely because your tone is very rude". She didn't care. Then, she started pointing her finger in my face saying "IF YOU'RE NOT HOLDING A DRINK YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO TAKE YOUR MASK OFF, PUT YOUR MASK ON IF YOU'RE NOT DRINKING!" I said "nobody in here is wearing a mask right now, and they're not holding drinks". After all this happened, I walk back over to her and asked if there's someone above her I can speak with, with a grin she said "nope". I called her some names in a low tone voice so the kids at the party didn't hear. And she asked me to leave. I gladly left. Apologized to my family and left. As a person with previous experience as a manager, there's no shape or form I would of spoken to a customer/client that way. There was 25 people at this party and every single person said she was very unpleasant to deal with.

They stand right at the bottom of the ramp and stairs so you cannot avoid them. It stinks, makes you gag, and just looks tacky. If staff, then go out back. If guests, go do it in your car. If others, get rid of them. There is a sign that says no vaping or smoking near the entry, but you still have to get through the crap to get to the entry. Our other main complaint is the air conditioning. The first room had lousy air conditioning. Add to that the huge, sharp, crack in the window (running from top to bottom), a couple other problems, and we were not comfortable. They moved us to another room on another floor, and the a/c wasn't much better. At full blast, the fan didn't circulate well, and you could only feel the cold if you put your hand on the worn metal of the a/c unit. There was a thermometer in the room, and it never went below 75F. We ended up having to buy a portable fan to blow on me while sleeping. Moving around in the room made us too hot, so we rarely spent any time there. My husband, who gardens in 100F weather, even had a cold damp facecloth on his head to keep from sweating. Decorations in the hall and room were broken. The brown towels had bleach stains on them. The microwave was antiquated, and we unplugged it. The little fridge froze our water (although, I guess that could be a plus). If they were to put some love and money into this place it could really shine. We prefer supporting small businesses over major hotel chains, and we like the charm of classic decor, but between the over-heated rooms and smokey entry, we would not recommend this to many of our friends. Truly a shame because, for our needs, the location was terrific and, as previously mentioned, the staff was very nice. SO much potential.
