I've had some tell me it is, and others tell me it's an "affiliate" location, meaning they lack many of the services of actual post office locations. If you want to send something that has already been postmarked and you have absolutely no questions on, it will do. If you need to have them print a shipping label, or answer any questions, I would try a different location. This location is staffed by ACE employees, not postal workers, so they are not able to answer many questions regarding the process of sending things out, even just down to "how many stamps will I need on this?". Went in recently to send out a a package- I do not have a printer at home, so I had a code for them to scan to print the shipping label there, something I have had 0 issues with at other post office locations. When I asked if they could scan it, the employee basically said "I don't know how , so no". If you don't know how, why are you the one working the mail counter? I have also tried to return mail that was addressed to former tenants (which we were instructed by the post office to do, just send it back and only accept our mail) and was told I would need to go to a "real" post office to do so. So then what are you? I would say skip it and just go to an "official" post office location, and save yourself the time and hassle.

The few efforts that you have made to exit your vehicle and take a few steps in, to deliver our mail have been very much appreciated. Unfortunately, the situation has become worse, despite our efforts to call the city several times, and ask for assistance from our condominium association's (so called) management company. Bottom line: Since you cannot (or will not- whatever the case may be) deliver our mail, can you at least STOP driving around with it in your truck, making it impossible for us to pick it up ourselves at our local post office? During these unusual circumstances, any extra effort you can make will be very much appreciated, albeit it apparently difficult for you, especially because of the many who have not been able to retrieve important mail. I had the pleasure of staying her a few days while in Alaska on vacation at the Air Force TLF (Temporary Lodging Facilities) as a home base between stints in Seward and off base Hotels. I'm going to butcher a lot of the specifics because I'm not military. I was a dependent as a youth and this trip was planned for by my sister (Air Force) There is some redundancy on gates due to a combination of bases, but as we were still getting used to the 10:30pm summertime sunsets, most gates close early and without schedule/warning making entry slightly more difficult. There was an airshow when we arrived so the road closures and road blocks to keep public to certain areas of the base made a lot of back tracking. The main roads are well maintained, but parking lots are pretty much at the mercy of the extreme weather with some deep potholes. It's a pretty flat base and you can see planes take off in the distance from almost anywhere. The PX/BX is cool, reminds me of a Fred Meyer, but with a dedicated food court and some outside vendors. Commissary it's pretty basic. Gas is cheap probably due to the oil Alaska produces. The Burger King on base closes early even though we stocked the fridge at our housing. What I did make use of was the recreational facility. You can rent a hot tub there? Coolers, rain gear, bikes, fishing gear, archery gear for hunting, kind of whatever you need. It all was really cheap, if not free. I didn't explore too much because of the 100% security check and it's a big base and I didn't feel like biking around it too much. There was a bowling alley and a bar that's got limited schedule. It's a pretty cool base, but we had some issues with TLF and quality, but rec facility made up for it.

If you've spent any time at all in North Anchorage "tropical paradise" is certainly not the first…read moreterm that comes to mind. This is truly a hidden gem inside Russian Jack Springs Park. You enter through the solarium, a little tropical oasis with two goldfish/koi ponds, an incredible display of tropical plants and trees, and a large birdcage with a tree in it. We enjoyed simply sitting on the bench here and taking it all in. Next is the main greenhouse. There is quite a collection in there, some of the plants and trees have clearly been there a very long time, there are cacti that practically touch the ceiling, trees spreading out overhead, and all manner of other tropical plants that you won't find anywhere outside within a thousand miles of here. And there are starts and seedlings as well, indicating this will continue to be the lovely hidden oasis it is for years to come. I've been to bigger and more grandiose tropical greenhouses, but to have this at all in Alaska is quite an accomplishment. And it's free. A great way to spend an hour or so.
