A one word review, authentic. Apparently the owners are from the region of the world as the food served. The menu is extremely extensive. However, our outstanding server enthusiastically guided us to a delicious offering. She was an absolute joy. The restaurant's appearance isn't its strongest feature. It's got a small cafeteria sort of vibe where the AC is on its last leg. But you'll hardly notice. All the tables are filled with hungry patrons with exotic dishes of wonderful smelling food in front of them. For starters we had fresh spring rolls with shrimp and basil, and crab rangoons. My husband and I both agree they were the best rangoons we've ever had. For entrees my husband had a roasted red chili fried rice with beef and chili paste sauce. I had drunken noodles with tofu. They had green bell peppers, onions, carrots, cabbage, basil leaves, and basil sauce. For beverages my husband had a Thai iced tea and I had hot jasmine tea with honey. The seating was small and you could seat yourself. It was quiet with soft music piped in and tiny twinkling lights. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Cozy restaurant with a great selection! The food is fresh & delicious! We started out with steamed potstickers. The sauce was very good. We had pad thai, pineapple fried rice, Pho, & sweet & sour chicken. I recommend ordering medium spice as mild had no spice. If you prefer a little kick. Otherwise the flavors were terrific! Everytime I come to Starkville, I have to have a meal at Andaman. Stellar Thai food hidden in plain sight. The owners are extremely friendly and accommodating. I've never had a bad meal or dish here and the portions are generous. I always have to start with a bowl of Tom kha soup. The coconut isnt overwhelming and it's not overly sweet like some can be. The Thai fried rice, chu chee curry (GET THE CRISPY DUCK), the pad Thai, pad see ew, and drunken noodles are all great options. If you think you hate tofu, try their lime or crispy tofu. Both are amazing options but i love the lime tofu because it comes as a lettuce wrap topped with crispy noodles. The spicy edamame is also great. We also order the chicken satay, the chicken wings (perfectly crispy), and the crab Rangoon. I'm telling you, everything is good. My favorite place in Starkville, hands down. read more

One of the great ventures of Asian restaurants is encompassing a more pan-Asian experience for non-experienced consumers. It is a difficult venture because, while sweeping a great diversity in culinary history and culture, you're inevitably going to fall short in the distinctiveness of your different dishes. Andaman Thai falls victim to this (not uniquely, mind you) in a number of respects. Some areas that they do well in are the variety of dishes, appropriate spice/heat ratios for curries and the actual dishes are cooked efficiently (not al dente noodles or anything). Don't be afraid of "Thai hot," because based on the few dishes I've tried it's certainly nowhere near the heat that Thailand is accustomed to bringing. I definitely think you should try this place out and make your own judgements regardless of my critique. Bottom line: Andaman Thai offers a similar but separate experience to another Thai-base restaurant in town - but doesn't do as well a job at the depth in their dish variety. Even foundational Thai dishes like Pad Thai, Tom Yum, Panang and the basil fried rice variety could be more intentional. BONUS HOT TAKE: $4 Thai tea is essentially double the price of the national average for Thai tea and, hilariously, 400% more than in Thailand. Be money-smart, people. read more

This is my favorite place for Thai food and fried rice in Starkville. They place is a little small, but it is just enough. Parking is plentiful so don't worry about it being in a shopping center Their fried rice that you order is a big order. Enough for two people. You don't get that sweet mayo based sauce with it, which is good, because I hate it. Your fried rice should not need to be covered in a pink sauce. The rice is cooked perfectly, and has a really good flavor to it. You can see the egg in it, and the veggies in it seem fresh, not like the frozen stuff some places use Their pad Thai is awesome. One order can feed two people. It comes with plenty of the meat you choose, and is topped with green onion and peanut. It has a great, not too strong flavor. One of the best things about this place is the food is cooked to order, and isn't cooked at a slow place either. I only get take out; and it usually doesn't take them long to make it. Quality Thai food is very hard to find, but Andaman is one of those hidden gems. While the inside looks very western and chic, don't let it fool you: this place serves authentic and stunningly good Thai/general Southeast Asian food. Excellent Thai food ! We moved to Starkville from the West Coast and have enjoyed a lot of good Thai food. We were so pleased to find Andaman. Great local owners that work very hard to provide a clean restaurant with great service and food. We have eaten across there menu and seem to just find new items we enjoy.
