Don't Miss Mo-Jam's for Home Cooking and BBQ While camping near Columbus, MS, we went into town one day and had lunch at this local favorite. We arrived just before noon, and stepped inside to place our order. Orders are taken at the counter. While they have a printed menu, they do have a chalk board with the daily favorites and specials. Our orders were taken by a friendly young man and we found a nearby booth to await our meal. My wife ordered the daily fried chicken special, four crispy home-style fried pieces of tasty chicken, including two sides - mac-n-cheese and fried okra - along with some homemade cornbread. I had the fried catfish with fried okra and cooked cabbage, served with a homemade roll. Shortly after we were seated, the young man came out to offer an apology. They only had one piece of catfish left, but he let me choose another meat to add to the order. I chose the bbq ribs. All items were brought out piping hot, fresh and delicious. The serving size was quite large. Overall, everything was excellent, including the friendly and helpful service. While there was just one other person in the small restaurant when we arrived, it quickly filled up with locals. Don't miss this place if you are in the area. Very good, down-home cooking. read more

Found this while driving thru on Sunday and based on the reviews, just had to try. Apparently the plate lunches are only served on Soul Food Sunday. Many great offerings but I opted for fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, and collard greens. Had a short wait to get the food, but totally worth it because it was freshly cooked - had to let the chicken cook off! - and delicious. All wings but I love wings. Potatoes were creamy with gravy and greens were right Southern touch. Definitely stopping again when I'm in town. read more

Man this was a blessing to come across this restaurant. I travel all over the country to work and stopped by this restaurant in search of some good quality food and i found my match. Customer Service was Excellent. The food tasted so good. you could taste the seasoning in every bite. I will definitely be back and if you have a chance you should definitely go try out their food. Oh yeah , let me tell ya, i came to order tenders about 45 before closing and they were sold out, i was just going to get fries and macaroni instead until ... wait for it ... they went and got some chicken breast for my order ANDDDDDDD gave me a sample of there oxtails to try which were chef's kiss DELICIOUS. My entire order was fresh and seasoned with so much flavor. Fries, chicken, oxtails, macaroni and fried okra were all amazing, now them fries i did not expect them to taste like that or be that good lol, i ain't never had to say hold on na about fries but i did today! The way me and my partner sat in the car eating we ended up ordering the oxtail plate , i mean ‍ might as well anyway sat out eating so long until they closed lol. My first visit was yesterday in search of rib tips later in the afternoon. Got the regular order. Delicious! Just enough for "me"! The Arnold Palmer had a refreshing taste ( drank too much). Went back today for Sunday dinner after church had the fried pork chop with candied yams, cabbage, and greens for sides. (Absolutely Delicious)! The menu spans much more than barbecue there are shrimp and grits, wings, and so much more. JJ is very polite and the freshness of the food makes it worth the wait! When you only have a handful of things on the menu, you better do them right, and MoJams did. Pig snoots, pigtails, pulled pork, catfish, and spare ribs are what we got. Incredibly delicious with a perfect smoked flavor. Pretty sure they're using a wood fired smoker out back. The food is authentic, the ambiance no frills. We discovered this little gem by accident while running errands. The young man who helped us was as nice as can be and very welcoming. We enjoyed chatting with him about the area although we failed to get his name he was one of the reasons we enjoyed our experience at this local bbq restaurant. Also, since I didn't have my phone so I have no pictures post of the generous portions or the nice presentation. Both my husband and I ordered the pulled pork sandwich which came on a hamburger bun. The pork was very tender and not at all fatty. The sauce was added afterwards, so for those who are picky about such things you can ask for light sauce, extra sauce, or even or no sauce. Two sides come with the sandwich. My husband had the outstanding coleslaw which was a little sweet and did not have mayonnaise. His other side were freshly prepared waffle fries with just the right amount of seasoned salt. My sides were the baked beans which had some kind of meat added for flavoring and the potato salad. Let me tell you, the potato salad is unique. It is made with eggs and is not chunky at all. Definitely get the potato salad. read more

Mothers Day. We decided to stop in because we wanted ribs. We like to go to local eateries to support the community. We order half slab of ribs and rib tips. Healthy sides of broccoli and asparagus. The owner explained that the asparagus were really skinny so he gave us an additional order of collard greens. The food was delicious. Definitely worth the trip. read more

Preface: I grew up in the food industry. I have a culinary arts degree with many years experience from fine dining to Fast casual. The pork was very good. Tender, moist, and good flavors without bbq. The broccoli had a strange aftertaste but I will try them again just to make sure it wasn't a strange batch. The rib tips were unfortunately not very good. The reason for the "meh" score is from the rib tips. They were very dry and difficult to chew. They had some smoky flavors but not much else. The only thing that made them edible was the bbq sauce. The sauce is pretty tasty but it's reminiscent of other sauces I've tried from the store. It's unclear to me at the time of writing this if the bbq sauce is store bought, doctored, or scratch made. Either way it is tasty. Service was very friendly. Price is competitive. That being said, the pork at Mo Jams easily beats Hank's and Little Dewy's. They hold no candle to mojams pork. I would like to see Mo Jams offer a 16hr sliced brisket. Due to dietary restrictions I'll have to review the more "carbatious" sides at a later date. I will return for more pulled pork. read more
