The three meats: outstanding ribs, weird pulled brisket (not listed that way on the menu) has a flavoring that was nice for 2-3 bites but then I didn't want anymore, and the dry pulled pork, although not grizzly or fatty, was not great and barely good. In addition, there's only two sauces and one of them was very honey based, and you could taste it the other was hot, but not the kind of hot that hit your tongue right away but sort of last in your throat and lingers. Sometimes we eat for sheer need of caloric intake. Sometimes we eat because of the sheer enjoyment and sometimes to satisfy the soul. Today I got all of the above! I am from out of town and I had a couple hours to spare between work engagements so I thought I would look up a good "local" bbq joint. Not only was the food out of control good, one of the owners came out and spent time visiting with me. Not only did I enjoy an amazing meal but was given amazing hospitality that made me feel truly welcome. Jimmy and his family are the real deal and can't wait to make it back. read more

I got the steak with asparagus and onion rings. The steak and asparagus were seasoned to perfection. My daughter got the rib tips with macaroni & cheese and baked beans, everything was good. Chefs Kiss and many thanks to the cooks. We were greeted with amazing customer service and a big smile. We'll definitely be back. My son had the pulled pork sandwich with Mac n cheese and enjoyed it. My husband had the 2 piece catfish platter and while he enjoyed it, it wasn't the best he has ever had. He said he would probably try something else if we come back. I had the pulled pork grilled cheese with onion rings and I really enjoyed my meal. There was a good amount of pulled pork with some yummy pimento cheese and it was toasted perfectly. The onion rings had a nice light batter, but were served perfectly crisp. I would definitely order my meal again if we come back and the portion was so large that my husband and I thought we could definitely split it. Overall, not the best meal we had in Starkville, but we would come back if others wanted to give it a try.
