Crypto exchanges are not required to send the classic IRS Form 1099-B summarizing Gross Proceeds and Total Costs. This has spawned a large cottage industry of 3rd party software that fills this void by retrieving all your crypto trades and rendering a 1099-B equivalent. Muirfield Accounting was amongst the first and only to recognize that until the IRS requires crypto exchanges to produce Form 1099-B summaries, software such as CoinLedger, CoinTracker and TokenTax are the only realistic alternative. When I first sought crypto help, established firms would not even return my calls or emails. Store front tax preparation franchises threw their hands in the air and showed me the door. Steven Fradin was the only person who had his feet anchored in reality instead of his head buried in the sand. Steve accepted that crypto was just another challenge in his ever changing accounting world. Steven Fradin of Muirfield accounting was the only one to respond. Steven Fradin and Katie Tyrrell answered all my inquiries swiftly. They have an easy- to-use input portal for entering information and produce timely results at a reasonable fee. Although I can whip out my sons' tax returns on the laptop in less than an hour, until the IRS fully embraces the realities stated above and requires the crypto exchanges to produce 1099-B's, I sleep a lot better at night knowing my sons' successfully submitted returns have the words Muirfield Accounting & Advisory SVC printed across the top.

The most unprofessional CPA I've worked with. He charges $550 to do a simple W2 on top of $1500 or…read moremore for small business taxes that are Under 100K. When I politely said "Hey thanks for the reminder, this year I plan to do my personal taxes (W2) myself, but mentioned no change about my wife's business taxes, that they would still be done as planned. He cut her off and stated, "never have your husband contact me again". Literally text her that. He is unhinged. So my wife being the innocent person is really the person who ended up losing out on using the same CPA each year, but the good news is we will pay much less to have our taxes done in the future. He's always been very short. As if it's a bother to answer simple tax questions. I get part of that especially during tax time but being rude is unnecessary and unprofessional. Oh, And you do all the work for him. You have to input every detail of your life into a software system EVERY YEAR and none of those details are saved. Yes, you do the work. He signs it. Also mind you he cost us an extra $5000 the year before with a mistake. There is no guarantee or insurance. He ended up paying for the $150 late fees on the mistake and we paid the $5000 tax Mistake. Weve since found out he made an additional mistake typing in our EIN number wrong which he never told us about. He just asked for POA to fix it. When we brought him some additional fines we were sent. Then he never gave us the final taxes for our records. My wife asked him nicely for a copy and he went off on her saying if your CPA doesn't know what to do, not my problem. Although it was our new CPA who found all these mistakes on last years taxes. She has been nothing but nice to Steve. If he has an issue with me, he can be rude to me, i could care less. But not my Wife who has been loyal. I am going to the AICPA with some of these issues. We still don't have totally accurate information on everything he did in 2022. Lastly, He also instantly shut down our account so we couldn't pull our 2022 taxes to use for 2023. Luckily I had a copy in email albeit it was wrong. I should have listened to the warning I was given originally about him by someone who knows him. All this, because i planned to do my W2 myself. It's free. I guess if he doesn't get the low hanging fruit he doesn't want any of it. I will never recommend Muirfield to anyone and I will warn everyone of how unprofessional his demeanor is. You've been warned. Good luck

Logan Thomas & Johnson, and especially Calvin Logan, should be avoided at all costs. Our experience…read morehas been nothing short of a nightmare: Lies & Broken Promises: In 2021, Calvin Logan told us he had filed our taxes, only to call at nearly midnight on April 15th to say he actually hadn't--but that he filed an extension. We spent four months begging for proof of that extension. None ever came. Ignored Calls & Emails: We left dozens of voicemails and sent repeated emails. No replies. One day out of the blue, we received a tax filing by email--no explanation of how it was done, no answers to our questions. When we asked again, silence. Huge Penalty: Desperate and out of options, we signed and paid the huge amount Calvin calculated. In February 2024, the IRS notified us of a $7,222 penalty for late filing--because there was no extension ever filed. Pattern of Deceit: Since then, I've called and emailed Calvin Logan, as well as his partners Jan Thomas and Pauline Davis, over and over. The pattern is always the same: Calvin ignores the first ten attempts to reach him, then lies--claiming he has "written to the IRS" or "taken care of it." Every time I ask for proof or even a simple copy of his correspondence, I get nothing. No proof, no action, no accountability. This firm should be shut down. Calvin Logan should lose his license. No one should ever have to spend years begging their CPA to return a phone call or email. Maybe $7,222 isn't much to them, but it is to us. The financial stress and sleepless nights this has caused are immeasurable. Do not trust Logan Thomas & Johnson with your taxes. They are incompetent at best, dishonest at worst.

I was told our taxes would be done one time. only reason I found out they weren't was a letter from the government about filing for the extension, nothing from the accountant. I also didn't receive my quarterly tax payment vouchers/estimate, which I need as a small business. On 4/24 I asked for an update, no reply. On 5/15 asked for an update, no reply. 5/22 asked for an update, was told they were ready for review. By the second week of June, still hadn't heard anything so I sent them a message that was finding someone else and I got no reply, apology, nothing to say that they were ready, just silence per usual. Found someone else that got everything done in 2 weeks.
