Anderson Windows failed in both installation, customer service and communication. We began our project in October with dates to install in November. When installation day came they installed a door with a crack and then failed to order a window. This meant I had a gaping hole in what would be my back door throughout winter. It was covered by plywood meaning I only had my front door for nearly 2 months the. Once the door was properly installed they failed to install a keyed-lock. Now I have access to 2 exits but could not enter through my back door since the only way to lock it was from the inside. The lock took another 3 months and this meant I went without a functioning back door for nearly 6 months. Then once installed they put in the wrong trim meaning another rescheduled date which also meant another day I had to either take off work or beg my boss to work from home. Anderson agreed to compensate me $1500 for the inconvenience which is laughable. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was told I would receive this within 2 weeks on April 23rd. Today, when I didn't receive it I contacted Anderson and they said they hadn't processed it until May 5th and it would be another 2-4 weeks to receive the check.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I regret going with Anderson. They have been difficult from start to finish. For a nearly $60,000 contract, $1500 compensation does not reflect the inconvenience they have caused. Do NOT go with Anderson Windows. read more

Then when we had a rain storm with strong winds the kitchen window leaked across the top of the frame requiring towls to soak up the water. Adding myself to the "I wish I could give them ZERO stars" club. One year ago - YES, one year ago, we ordered Andersen 100 Series windows through our awesome and trusted contractor. Installation was done by his Certified Andersen Window Installer and when we were all looking at the finished, we all gasped that 5 of 11 windows were terribly bowed at the bottom. So bowed that I couldn't close and latch a few of them. We were told we needed to file a warranty claim with Andersen so our contractor got it started with his supplier (supplier needs to file the claim as they were the actual purchaser) L O N G story short, everyone pointed fingers at one another and Andersen would not take responsibility for the inferior windows. Andersen sent representatives out again and again, and they pointed fingers at someone else but wouldn't be accountable for shoddy workmanship. After 11 months, Andersen finally agreed to supply 5 new windows. 3 weeks later we got the new windows and the same installer removed the bad windows, checked, measured, and inspected all frames prior to installing the new windows and everything about our house was perfect and ready for the new windows. Got the windows in and - - - 3 of 5 new windows are bowed at the bottom. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Andersen - 1) you have no customer service. Your telephone agents are rude and will not speak to anyone other than the person that purchased the windows (the wholesale supplier)[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] 2) you are allowing 100 series windows to leave the production plant in Garland, TX without inspecting 3) allowing for shoddy workmanship with an inferior product. We installed Andersen Series 100 Fibrex windows three years ago. 3 of the windows have had extension horizontal cracking in the sashes and the glazing beads have all come off. I would leave zero stars if I could. Wanted to return a part. Had to call the help center! Cannot return online. After 20 minutes they gave me their address to mail back the part. They do not produce labels - even at a cost. They also do not produce RMA numbers OR Return ID's. After you mail it back to them - you need to call them AGAIN and tell them your tracking number! Purchased wood Andersen windows for a large addition on our home this year. I needed these to match the previous Andersen Windows that we installed in our newly built home in 2006. I looked all over and could not find any other window companies that had the matching style as these. The windows that I just bought are NOT even close to what we bought in 2006. The wood is crap. These were ordered for 2x6 construction, (therefore they were ordered with the extensions). Two of the windows had no extensions on them from the factory & I had to pay a trim carpenter to build them out so we could frame them. This might have been the fault of MPC Lumber where I ordered them from, I do not know. These were supposed to be stain grade and they are definitely NOT. You would think Andersen would have questioned why 2 out of 12 windows did not have the extensions on them? The crappy wood that they built the extensions is full of blotches, does not stain properly. The trim carpenter-built extensions on the other 2, and the wood he got looks nice stained. The ones that were installed at the factory look terrible stained. Also, It seems like no matter how much I clean them the glass always has streaks. I got the glass that darkens it from the outside so you cannot see in so not sure if that is part of the problem. We ordered 2 large sliding doors in wood. The wood on them was subpar and the extensions were horrible, and some areas would not even take stain-very blotchy. Also BEWARE Anderson sliding doors come all in pieces and have to be totally assembled. Thankfully the framers put it together and the Trim carpenters installed all the trim and extension pieces for it. The worst part was I ordered the blinds in the glass and in 3 months one door blind was broken and would not go up/down. Now mind you this door has not even been used as we have no steps on the addition yet. I probably opened the blinds a total of 5-6 times and they were broke. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called MPC who called Andersen and they promised to "fix them". My understanding was they were repairing it. They show up and tell me that they are taking 1/2 of my slider and replacing it with a bare wood piece meaning I would have to start all over to stain it to match the other side and polyurethane it multiple times, then get the trim carpenters back out to uninstall and reinstall all the extension jams and trim[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. WHAT!! I kept the half of the door for future problems and told them to hit the road! NO WAY a $5,000 door should have issues in 3 months. I have purchased less expensive sliders from other big box stores and 10 years later they are still working fine. RECOMMENDATION-Look around Andersen today is NOT what it was years ago, and quality has surely went down hill. read more

DON'T BUY WINDOWS FROM THIS COMPANY. THE OWNERS/INSTALLERS WONT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR POOR QUALITY WORK. We had all (21) of our windows installed by this company, at a huge expense, well over $20,000.00. We went with new Anderson 100 series, not replacement, windows because of their excellent reviews and lifetime warranty. At the time Palmdale glass was the only authorized Anderson seller/installer in the Antelope valley, so we called them. When the owner (Hal) came out to measure give estimates he said we use our own installers, great. The problem started shortly after the installations were done. Hal pulled the "you need to talk with the installers" routine. Sad First day of installation, according to the installers our half circle window was not measured properly (Hal had done all the measurements) and needed to be remade. I suspect they forced this same incorrect sized window in (because this window failed shortly after installation) when i say failed i mean the window fogs up between the panes, the joints of the of the window frame have separated, from being forced into the opening. This causes me to think the wrongly measured window was not remade but forced in. Also because the window frame was forced in the joints have separated, causing air/wind to come through the cracks. When we called to have it replaced they said HAL had sold the company and they no longer are authorized Anderson window dealers, but when i checked the Andersen windows website and did a zip code search Palmdale glass still shows up at #2 behind home depot, as of 3-11-2023. We asked what about the lifetime guarantee on the window and installation, they said "we will get back with you". After 3 separate calls regarding our half moon window we are still waiting. We made the 3 calls over a 2 year period starting in 2020, still nothing. Further since installation, the poor quality of work is starting to show up. The massive amounts of caulking to cover up huge gaps between frame and house are starting to show. Most of the windows are installed well but the ones that are bad are really bad. One of our office windows (slider type) was installed bowed, causing it to be hard to open and close, they came out and lubed it as a fix. The lube is a temporary fix as the window, even with the lube is still difficult to open and close. We have photos of all the poor quality work and the failed half circle window for reference. As far as the windows themselves they seem to be excellent except for the locking mechanism. We've had them (Palmdale glass) come out and replace three broken locks already. Their sales presentation was rate one... especially the heat lamp test on their glass insulation test and their state of the art composite frame insulation..not to be beat. I had Anderson Windows put in my new house in 2006. I've always been impressed about their reputation. As warranty expired I've experienced several issues: 1) large casement window cranked failed. 2) the locking mechanism in sliding glass doors failed. 3) had to replace the hinged locking system in 8' French doors. 4) had to replace the upper sash in a 200 series window due to seal failure that caused sash to rot out. I would have expected at least the sash to be covered under 20 year warranty but no - glass is covered but frame around glass it is not. The day of the delivery we were told that one of the windows was not delivered. The company has now told us it will be a full month before this single window is delivered. Every effort to contact the company to try to elicit a better effort on their part to expedite it has failed. My phone call with their customer service was very unpleasant. The woman was condescending and trying to imply the blame was on the part of the distributor, and then told me there was nothing she could do to expedite the window. He has not been back for 3 months, claiming that he doesn't yet have the part to repair the window. I am a 25 year licensed residential architect who recently purchased a 100 series patio door from Home Depot in Reno Nevada . The door was professionally installed by a gen contractor licensed in cal and nevada. Shortly after install the lower sill warped by an inch over a 6 foot span. Home Depot notified Anderson Windows and I was contacted . The poorly informed Anderson representatives informed me it was an install issue and not covered . I asked each representative why it was not installed properly , each provided a contradictory answer . One said i did not use adhesive and it was required the other asked if i did and if so the warranty would be void . 2.5 hours worth of phone calls all giving me the run around. The Home Depot rep confirmed it was a song and dance to avoid warranty coverage . Avoid this product and this manufacture. Our E Series windows are double hung, aluminum exterior, stained wood interior. I wish I could say the windows' quality is what we had hoped for. Issues with the windows include: split and checked wood, outside daylight showing through sash joints, raised and porous wood grain to the point it is very rough to the touch and difficult to clean, inadequate filling of nail and staple joints, and a stain color that is nowhere close to the sample provided. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only thing more disappointing than the quality of the windows is Andersen Corporation's Senior Field Service Manager's response when he came on Aug. 6, 2024, and inspected the windows.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The Service Manager acknowledged the rough finish on the windows and the raised grain. The service manager's suggested fix was replacing the sashes only, with unfinished sashes to be stained the correct color, but leaving the rough finished wrong color frames which won't match the new sashes. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The Service Manager apologized that the solution he is offering is incomplete.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The last communication I received from the Service Manager was on Aug. 7, 2024.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We went to show rooms and talked to previous customers before ordering these windows. I had.my windows and doors installed end of October. Installers left a wire hanging on front of building and door knob would come off in hand when turning. Andersen advertises a 20-year warranty on the glass of its windows. Well, I can tell you they do not stand behind that warranty. My 2010 400 series windows that they claimed are self-washing windows have turned into a nightmare after 12 years. The first 12 years were great, all I had to do is wash the outside of the window with a hose, now I cannot get my windows clean in any normal way of washing them. We tried Windex, ammonia and water, white vinegar and water, nothing worked. Called Andersen and they sent their representative over. This guy was more like a hit man trying to avoid them warrantying their window. He actually cleaned the window with a glass stove top polish, this is a mild abrasive. He then told me to be careful not to put too much pressure on the window or I will ruin the glass. I am also certain that this would void the window warranty. THIS IS INSANE!! House was built 50 years ago with Andersen windows. We moved in almost 30 years ago now. Spent the first 10 years replacing with Andersen conversion kits, narrowline to tilt in 400s. The windows are still better insulated than originals, but I would not buy again. The tilt in feature is the worst design ever. You have to slide wedges down and try to force them in the front sash to allow tilt in. Then remember to move them back up or else the back sash, if you can push the side in enough to allow tilt to work, will snap them. Oh yeah, by the way, wedges are not replaceable... If you are successful in tilting the sash back in place, the mechanism creaks in an ungodly, ear piercing manner and, if you're lucky, will not break. Half of the windows splintered out and one took many tries to get back into place. Luckily it still slides up and down, but I will not attempt to tilt in again. Next owner will need to deal with that. I purchased all of my replacements through Home Depot and at the time felt it was a fair price for what I believed to be a better quality window. When Renewal by Andersen stopped by and I heard their prices, I gagged. Never again. read more

Very disappointed after replacing all our windows and several doors with Anderson products 2-3 years ago. - Twice windows have fallen out when opening them. The first time occurred the first time I opened one of the windows. When this issue occurs it bends the swiveling hardware at the bottom of the window that makes the window open and close, it also often cuts the rubber window seal around the window. When the window falls out of the track at the top, the windows are difficult to get back into place and re-attach at the top, and at best the swiveling hardware attached to the bottom of the window has to get 'bent back' for the window to function. The 'windows falling out' issue is due to a cheap 'doomed to fail' small *plastic* piece that attaches the window at that top to it's track. The entire gravity on the window to hold it horizontal is applied to this plastic piece with a small claw that slides in the track, some of the many flaws with this design: -- The track itself will wear on the plastic making it looser and causing it fall out -- Plastic becomes weak and brittle over time -- The plastic piece is too small and weak to effectively hold the window up --The window tracks themselves create friction on the plastic piece on both sides that will further lead to the plastic piece wearing out and failing. If plastic is so great and is a suitable high quality material why not make the whole frame and everything else about the window out of plastic? Oh because you want the consumer to see wood around the window to think it's high quality. But then the parts the consumer can't easily see, that actually hold the window on are plastic. It's exceptionally disappointing to invest this much in a long term product that has no chance of standing the test of time, or even to function well when brand new or now two years old. I think this Anderson product may be 'ok' at best for smaller windows, but they should not sell it on any medium size or larger window, that said I feel this plastic piece would still fail after a few years on a small window, it is exposed to the elements and is on the external side of the gasket. Next complaint would be the plastic and other seal materials around the windows. In some cases the plastic pre-gasket ship 'crimped' or rolled over on the edge which makes the plastic piece have a gap. Further if the plastic pre-gasket is pushed at all, for example when the window falls out, it will not go back into place and leaves the gasket below exposed. Rubber seals on the expensive high-end Anderson sliding doors come unglued and roll away from the position they are supposed to be in reducing the R factor. The Warranty appears very crappy. According to the warranty, Anderson will not really take ownership of your experience with their product or ensuring you have working windows. It's a warranty such that they will provide replacement parts, or potentially allow returning a window for repair. Sending me a replacement plastic piece to replace the prior plastic piece that failed doesn't really resolve my issue of having windows that will randomly fall off their track, further its very difficult to replace the small plastic track-attachment when it fails, I'm unable to do it myself. If I send a window back for repair then I have no window on our bedroom. Anderson risks a few cents for this cheap plastic part to replace it when it fails but doesn't have to actually do anything toward getting me what I thought I was buying, reliable working windows. In order to have working windows I have to basically bend the metal glides back and replace the cheap plastic piece, if I wanted a window back in the condition it should be I'd have to send the whole window back which is so inconvenient I won't end up doing so. Rich Anderson executives, maybe this will be an analogy you can understand. The BMW 740i and iL had plastic timing chain tensioners, this caused the car to basically become 'totaled' often at only 90-110k miles when that part failed because it was so expensive to open the engine to replace the plastic timing chain guides people would junk the car (the most expensive BMW in the line). We ordered new Anderson windows from Home Depot for our home, which included 9 sliding patio doors. They were bronze-colored Fibrex, but Anderson only makes that color on three sides. The bottom is grey, which looks awful against most of our flooring and our exterior trim. There was no indication that is what we were ordering. Anderson is not willing to do anything about it. We had an Anderson Service person come to our townhome for some repairs that took him 1.0 hrs to repair (basically some shims and one weather striping piece. We paid $830 for one hour of labor. I spent 2 - 3 hours of my own time trying to get an equitable refund. Didn't happen. DO NOT prepay this company. read more
