Unpopular, unsightly, and rather boring, it's a job that had to be done nonetheless. Jim from Duct Works did a great job on my air ducts in my rental home, making the entire process stress free. My initial call to Jim was just for a quote and to answer a few questions and although I called a few more places for quotes, it's Jim's honesty and straight-forwardness that made me want to use him for the job. He's the owner/operator of DuctWorks and I liked knowing that the person I was talking with on the phone would be the person who would show up for the job. Lucky for me, Jim had an opening the following day and we were able to knock the job out before the weekend. Although I wasn't present for the actual cleaning, my tenant said that Jim was friendly and did the job efficiently and quickly. I followed up with a phone call to Jim to see if there was any issues and thankfully there weren't any (whew! No dead animals in the ducts. Always a relief) A few things I learned from calling around about duct cleaning is that some of the national chains won't do an older home where they suspect or are unsure of asepsis around the ducts. DuctWorks took every precaution in working with my older home that the other, larger chains passed on. Also, DuctWorks uses a truck instead of the handheld vacs ensuring that the dust and particles are removed safely and quickly without re-emitting anything into the air. The prices are reasonable for duct work cleaning and given that it was a long time coming for my house, it was well worth it. I've already recommended him to home owners for their home maintenance.

Our ductwork was loaded with drywall debris and other stuff from the construction. Jared and Tony did a remarkable job cleaning them and showing us the before and after pictures. SCAMMER ALERT!!! BUYER BEWARE!!!…read more UPDATE!! SCAMMERS AND THREATS!!! After I posted this Andy called and threatened me. He told me I swore at his customer service person. I did not. He also told me he was going to turn me in to the housing commission. He also lied and said it was against the law to work on the furnace when the heat exchanger is how it was. My 2nd opinion confirmed that was also a lie and that he'd just need to turn off the gas to the furnace to inspect it. They just keep digging themselves deeper and deeper. Today Russ tried to scam me into a new furnace. He claimed that he couldn't do any further evaluation on the furnace because the secondary heat exchanger was too dangerous and that most people just replace the whole furnace at that point. My antenna went up when he didn't make sense about why he couldn't evaluate the furnace further because of the heat exchanger needing replacing even though it was still functional. He didn't have any pricing on the heat exchanger or a new furnace and he never followed up with the pricing on either of them. I had a 2nd opinion and it was just the filter had been sucked into the fan. An easy, low cost fix. My 2nd opinion confirmed they were trying to scam me and that nothing else was wrong with the furnace or the secondary heat exchanger.

The team was pleasant, quick, and everything looked great when they were done. The next morning, I noticed a strong unpleasant odor coming from the LR carpet. I contacted customer service on Thursday, 8/8, and was immediately scheduled for a follow-up cleaning on 8/9. This was perfect since the plan had been to have the carpet cleaned while my family was up north for the week so we didn't have to deal with toddlers on damp carpet. The second team arrived on time Friday morning and were pleasant, quickly recleaned the LR carpet, and were gone before I knew it. I made sure air was circulating before heading up north to pick up my family. Upon returning home on Sunday afternoon (8/11), both my wife and I noticed the unpleasant odor was clearly still present. She suggested that the carpet may not be fully dry yet, so we waited to see if the smell would dissipate. It did not. I became extremely frustrated on Saturday 8/17 while sitting on the carpet with my kids, smelling a stink that did not exist prior to our initial steam cleaning on 8/6. I decided to use our own residential carpet cleaner to see if I could eliminate the smell with a few more passes. Here is the most frustrating and disgusting part of this experience: My residential carpet cleaner picked up a truly massive amount of dirt and grime from my TWICE professionally steam cleaned living room carpet. I did not take a picture of the first waste water tank that was filled with black/gray water, but I did take a picture of the next TEN full tanks with similar results. As you can imagine, I am pretty upset with this whole experience and would like to speak with someone about what can be done. Thank you -------------------- My carpet still smells worse now than it did before it was cleaned. Absolutely frustrating that I paid for this service.
