We used Modernistic to clean our home's ductwork. We recently did some major renovations and I knew the ductwork would be dirty but it was much worse than I imagined. Our ductwork was loaded with drywall debris and other stuff from the construction. Jared and Tony did a remarkable job cleaning them and showing us the before and after pictures. We were so pleased with their work! They let me know in advance what the price would be. They went over everything in detail and were careful with the equipment as not to mark up our walls. I worked there a long time ago. One of the worst jobs I ever had. Had roommates tell me I should try this job, but being told you suck, working with someone who is ungodly slow. The owners daughter was micro-managing everything and everyone. Didn't have a car so I would like to get dropped off in kalamazoo but would purposely drive back to Plainwell so I had to make calls. You show up to work and get sent back home if you are an extra. You try out a new job and don't get really taught. Did an absolutely horrible job cleaning dog hair off a couch and charged us $219 for it. Moved into our new home and had these guys clean sofas etc because previous owner had a lab and I am very allergic to dogs. It does not even look like they tried to get the dog hair off but they charged us $219. We would have done it by itself but my wife was hoping to have one less thing for us to do during move out/move in day. Will never use them again. read more

Simple and quick: yes and yes! I made an appointment online for air duct cleaning, got email confirmation that the service window was 8am to 1pm. I never actually talked to anyone to confirm the appointment so I was hoping they were really going to show up. They did! A large service window, but they called around 10am that they were on their way. They asked if I had any pets that could escape while they brought their stuff in ! I appreciate that because I do have a curious cat that would've loved to sneak out! Josh and Dustin were friendly and professional. They put on their shoe booties, used care to move a few small pieces of furniture to access vents, put plastic protectors around corners of walls to protect the home when dragging their hoses. They also worked quickly and efficiently, completing my 11 vent job in about an hour. They did take before and after pictures to show me the end result. I asked that they text me the pics so they are posted here as well for proof of cleanliness! From the phone call to when Mike and Ryan arrived the experience was GREAT! It was a pleasure talking to the "front desk" who answered the phone (didn't have to go through a series of 'for service press 1") and when they crew of two showed up, giving ample time to prepare for carpet cleaning. The price was fair and accurate, as well as the exceptional care they gave to our furnishings. An added bonus was the "instructions" on when to walk on carpet and how long it actually takes to thoroughly dry, as well as a few tips on getting the carpets dried. They refused to do the service when I refused to pay a ridicules price and left leaving me with to needing to call another company. I had a last minute water damage issue last night so I called Modernistic in Holland, Michigan. They said the emergency quote cost would be $300 on the weekend after hours so I asked if they were open on Saturdays. They said yes and that the cost would be $150. So I said I'm sure it could wait until the morning. So I called this morning and the dispatcher calls me back and said the quote has now changed to $400 for them to show up, claiming the other person was incorrect. Incorrect or not, they should honor the quoted price and not last minute try to gauge people out of their money. Extremely unprofessional. Buyer BEWARE with this company, apparently they practice Bait and Switch practices with their quotes. Spare yourself the hassle and don't use them. read more

3 years ago the roof on our apartment building collapsed. They took over two years to complete the job. It took one year and my ceiling started leaking again. I wouldn't use this company to clean the dog crap out of the yard. Their sub contractors are terrible. The job they did here is the worst thing I've ever seen. I spoke to a very knowledgeable person on the phone to schedule, and they were able to schedule me the next day for that service. They called before arriving as I was told they would, and they arrived about 20 min later as expected. The technicians were courteous and professional and explained the process to me before they began work, and afterward showed me pictures of just how bad it really was and what it looked like now. The most irresponsible and care less carpet cleaners I have ever seen. On their first attempt their cleaner machine was broken and their extension cords where wet and useless, and they arrived 1 hour late!!! At their second attempt they brought a very old cleaning machine back from world war II, unbelievable noisy and useless and they left my carpets totally dirty and wet. It was like you are stepping in a mud. And at their 3rd attempt they brought me 3 old and nasty fans to dry my carpets, after 48 hours still my carpets were wet and they didn't paid my money back!!! I don't talk about the bill of electricity consumption of the 3 fans working for 2 whole days. Take a look to the photos. Terrible company, staffs and manager. Had them clean entire house. 4 bedrooms, 2 hallways, family room, living room, 2 sets of stairs. We just had moved in and wanted to know it was clean. We had to check each room and ask them to go back and move furniture in the bedroom to get under bad (full size bed) and dresser. Living room never had the sectional moved at all! (We both thought the other one checked so it was missed by us) Up stairs smells very funky now. We have placed 3 calls to them asking to talk with someone other than the operator/appointment maker. NO response. You don't treat customers this way.I will not recommend them. Think twice!! Go with anyone else!!! read more

10 months ago we got our air ducts cleaned by Modernistic. Now, our air conditioner has stopped working due to a tiny fracture in a coil leaking refrigerant. We have had three companies come out to diagnose the problem. Upon opening the furnace, each has been surprised at the extensive amount of debris left throughout the furnace. One worker asked, "Did you just get your ducts cleaned?" When we said yes, 10 months ago, he shook his head and said they did a terrible job, didn´t put the guards up correctly, and that this is likely what damaged our coil. We contacted Modernistic, sent in photos of our furnace filled with disgusting dust, insulation, screws, and other objects. They said too bad. Now we are left with a $1500.00 bill because of their mistake. Modernistic has not offered to fix their terrible job or help us with the coil. Modernistic´s website states that: "A proper cleaning of your HVAC system leaves the entire system, including the furnace and air conditioner, in better condition than before." Our furnace is filled with debris just 10 months later? Also, they forgot to include that your furnace will be ruined and you will have a high bill that they won´t own up to or offer to fix. They aren´t even coming to fix the nasty furnace they left. We are a young couple in our 20s and have many friends who will need home care services in the future. We will NEVER recommend Modernistic or their services and will continue to share this horrible story. Please do not trust this company. read more

Made an on line appointment, cleaners were available earlier than expected and called to see if they could come earlier. That worked for me and the arrived at the agreed on time. Tom and Jaylen did a fantastic job, all my spots are gone. The chair they cleaned (that was really disgusting) looks like new. They were personable, entertaining, and very pleasant to work with. I purchased a house in which the previous owners had two dogs. The house had a general odor of "dog smell," but the carpets weren't overly stained and there wasn't an overpowering smell of urine or anything of the sort. I had Modernistic come in and clean the air ducts and carpets on May 30. The duct cleaning was fine (although I'm essentially taking Modernistic's word for it), but despite being told the carpets would dry in 12 to 24 hours, it took over 48 hours for the carpet to dry. Worse, the smell was not gone. I called Modernistic, and they sent a crew back out and re-cleaned the carpets. Again, the smell was very apparent on the carpeting in places. As a last-ditch effort before pulling up the carpeting in my house, I tried a simple Bissell stain lifter with the pet stain and odor solution. The dirty liquid tank on the Bissell had the darkest, brown-est, most vile liquid imaginable and the machine did a better job of removing the odor in 20 minutes than Modernistic did after two full cleanings. I'm seriously questioning Modernistic's claims of "quality," and I'm regretting the $780 I spent. read more

Modernistic was recommended to me so I went online to schedule the appointment. So easy!! I made 8 service appointments on the same day so I could knock them all out. The crew called 30mins before arrival and arrived on time. They were super friendly, professional and knowledgable. They explained the entire process and what they would be doing to accomplish clean air ducts and vents. They stopped midway to show me before and after! I wish I would have taken a picture!! I have been remodeling my apartment during the pandemic I painted got some new things it really looks great in here until you look down at my dated soiled ugly carpeting stay around brown you know the apartment color. So yesterday Monday I call Modernistic and spoke to a wonderful lady she was so nice she scheduled my cleaning the next morning which I was blown away how quickly. Fast forward today I get a call from Scott and he says I'll be there in 5-10 minutes a heads up when he's arriving wow that never happens. He arrives says a few pleasantry's and gets right to work he moved the furniture and even puts it on little Styrofoam pieces so not to leave marks. I am absolutely blown away by how good the cleaning looks it looks like brand new carpet. I highly recommend the job this company did on my place. I have used Modernistic before and always had a positive experience, but this time was totally different. I simply needed a couch cleaned - easy enough right? They missed the promised arrival window, and when I called to see where the technician was the receptionist promised to check and get right back to me. 45 minutes later I had to call again because I did not receive the call back, and was told the technician had mechanical issues with the van and that's why he was late. When I asked why she didn't call back I was told that the technician was supposed to call me. When the technician finally arrived (over an hour from when I called the first time), he did a good job and was very apologetic (thank you JOHN), but the total lack of customer service is unacceptable. Their motto is simple and quick - it should be rude and late instead. While I was on hold during the 3 different calls I had to make the advertisement that was playing said if I wasn't happy then they weren't happy - but I am not happy and they didn't care.
