A few years later the starter in it did burn out and their 24 hour emergency service person was prompt and had the part needed. The other day we thought we smelled gas in a small wall heater that is in our porch so we called them; they came right out to check. Turns out there was no leak (they did a thorough check) so we were happy about that. They also replaced our heating/ac unit's filter. Very professional, helpful, answered questions/concerns. We haven't used anyone else, nor quoted anyone else since then. This past weekend I noticed an odd smell and soot buildup on the exhaust vent for our furnace. Since it was a Sunday in February, I called WE Energies first. The WE rep measured the CO2 at the exhaust and told me that he would need to shut our furnace down before he left, and recommended that I call my HVAC contractor. Modern Sheet Metal had someone at our house within a half an hour. He told me which furnace he would recommend and measured for the new unit. Since it was a Sunday, we scheduled the install for Tuesday. He then left three space heaters with us to keep the house warm. Monday morning's temp was 15 degrees outside, 64 inside. As I was preparing to leave for work at 7am, my phone rang. It was Modern asking if it would be okay to install the new unit that morning. The guys arrived before 7:30 and had the new furnace installed by 10:00. They also left the work area cleaner than when they arrived. Absolutely recommend them for your heating and A/C needs.

Afterwards, I had concerns about how to properly clean the grate, as there was no accessible panel. A representative from Bob's confirmed that the grates are not removable and advised using a product called Nu-Calgon Evap Foam No Rinse to clean the condensing coil. Earlier this year, Matthew's Heating & Cooling inspected and cleaned my furnace. They determined that the condensate drain had not been installed in a workmanlike manner and strongly advised against using the cleaning product mentioned above (see attached report). To date, we have identified at least two furnaces that experienced this same issue. I scheduled a meeting with the condo board president and a representative from Bob's Heating. No one from Bob's showed up for the meeting. I would urge any resident living at Richmond Terrace to use another vendor when replacing their furnace.

Only 60 degrees and it was chilly inside. I called and the owner "Don" told me they were buried with calls and couldn't get to me for a few days. I called another company that runs lots of advertising "Big Name" and what a mistake that was. They came out repaired something and charged me over $400. The next day the furnance started acting up again. I called them back and they decided it had an expensive part that needed to be ordered +$1200. I decided to call "Don" at Abby's back and told him what was going on. Here it was Christmas Eve and he dropped everything and came to our rescue. He too said the part the other guys mentioned needed to be replaced. He just happened to have one in his truck. Plus he told us it was under warranty and sent it in for us. End of the story he had it fixed and running quickly and only charged us $200. Called the other "Big Name" guys asking to be reimbursed the $400 that didn't fix my problem. It's a classic case of bait and switch got a post card addressed with my name on it in the…read moremail for $15 off air conditioning safety inspection & precision maintenance so I called by phone to schedule a appointment I talked to Wendy she asked if I was a existing client I said yes I'm a existing client in which she verified- she said it would be $84.95. I thought great I'd use the $15 coupon on postcard too that they offered me. Then after work was done told it was $84.95 plus tax and the coupon for $15 off I couldn't use. Juston said service was regularly $94.95 and that was the $15 off I said no $15 off would be $80.00 not $84.95. Juston said to call Wendy I did she said service was $99.95 the $15 coupon was for new clients only. Wendy said the coupon was sent out to me as a reminder to call in for service. Juston the technician was a great guy very personable and gave me tip to keep unit clean. Juston said yes he ran into this problem all the time that he would talk to Wendy when he got back to his business. I signed it begrudgingly but I thought this is a bait and switch I called my credit card company I'm disputing it. I've loved having them out and they do great work and are reliable business. The last visit they matched the coupon price of a competitor. The coupon says not valid with other offers but not saying what that is? Definitely not transparent in their business practices.
